Officiating were members and officers of the Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 3158 Fraternal Order of Eagles. Mrs. Ruggles passed away March 24 at Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years Kenneth Ruggles of Lake Isabella; daughter Sandra Moldenhauer of Oregon; sisters Thelma Suits of Kansas; Silvia Butts of Nevada and three grandchildren.
Phillis Ruggles was a charter member of the Eagles Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary Drill team.

Services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, interment at Lake Isabella for Dorothy Sue Corbett, who died March 15 in Lancaster.

Mr. Pace passed away April 9 at his residence after illness.
He is survived by his son warrant officer Robert G. Pace stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps in Hawall.
Harry Pace was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Leonard passed away April 7 at the Kern Valley Hospital Mt. Mesa. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Annie Lou of Lake Isabella; sister Maxine Milligan of Bakersfield; sister Velma Dell 'Sally' Bolin of Oklahoma and 44 loving nieces and nephews.
Earl H. Leonard was retired from the China Lake Elementary School District after 18 years of service and has lived in the Kern River Valley since 1972.

L. D. "DUTCH" SEIBERT
A memorial service was conducted Sunday April 13 at the United Methodist Church, Kernville for L.D. "Dutch" Seibert of Kernville. Officiating was Rev. James S. McGhee, Pastor.
Mr. Seibert passed away at the Kern Valley Hospital April 9 after being stricken at his office in Kernville.
He is survived by his brother Robert Seibert of Cathedral City.
Dutch was well known in the Kern River Valley as a real estate pioneer and the operator of Dutch Selbert Realty in Kernville. During his 30 years as a resident of the Kern Valley, Dutch was former president of the Kern Valley Golf Club and a member of the Kernville Chamber of Commerce.
During WW II Dutch served with the U.S. Navy and an officer (Lt. JG) aboard the USS Dauntless and in diplomatic posts as naval attache in Mexico City.
Born March 4, 1915 in Kansas City, Missouri, Loyd Delmer "Dutch" Seibert was 71.

A graveside funeral service was conducted Thursday, April 17 at the Kern River Valley cemetery for Arthur Jones, 80, of Weldon. Officiating was Pastor Robbie Robinson of the Weldon Southern Baptist Church.
Mr. Jones passed away April 14 at the San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield.
He is survived by his wife Roberta of Welon; daughter Patsy Jo Leibert; sons Addison Jones and Danny C. Jones; grandchildren Karen and Larry Kuster, Frank and Sharon Leibert, Shawn and Anthony Tononi, Shaye Jones, Arron Jones and Allina Jones; four great grandchildren Scott and Kathy Kuster, Chantille Leiberts, Darcy Kuster and Tiffany Tononi.
He is also survived by his brother and sister in law Fred and Clara Jones of Abeline, Texas; sister in law Ruth Jones of Victoria, Texas; brother in law Max Addison and wife Kathleen of Lubbock, Texas.
Arthur V. Jones was born Aug. 16, 1905 in Duster, Texas. He worked as a wildcat driller in the 1930's. During WWII he served as captain of the fire dept. Armarillo Airfield. He moved to Kern County in 1960 and has lived in Weldon since 1977.

JOHN (Jack) LALLY, Sr.
John Lally Sr., passed away April 20 in Long Beach, California.
He is survived by his daughter Nina Blevens; son John Lally, Jr. and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildi en.
Jack Lally was born July 7, 1916 in Omaha, Nebraska.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and retired to the Kernville area 14 years ago to manage Rivernook Trailer Park and later Riverview Trailer Park.
DEAC LEAGENBY
Memorial services were held April 14 at the Hill Haven Cemetery in Santa Ana for Deac Leagenby, who passed away in his sleep on April 13 at the Hill Haven Convalescent Hospital in Santa Ana.
Deac was a long time valley resident and friend to many in the South Fork community.
He came to the valley in 1945 and worked at the old Weldon store. He served as postmaster in Weldon from 1954 to 1970.
The family has requested that any memorials in Deac's honor be made to the United Methodist Church in Weldon.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alma.

BERN G. SMITH
Memorial services were held May 2 at the Atascadero Foursquare Church for Bern Garrity Smith who died after being struck by a tree while logging in the Sierras on April 28. An additional service will be held in Lake Isabella at the Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, May 10 with Pastor James Lee officiating. Mr. Smith will be cremated.
Mr. Smith had been living in Wofford Heights near Greenhorn Mountain for the past eight years. Mr. Smith was born January 31, 1958 in Santa Margarita to Ulah and Doreen Smith of rural Paso Robles and attended Templeton and Paso Robles schools.
He is survived by his parents, sisters, Wenda Michals and Karan Stuart; brothers, Brad Smith, grandmothers Dorothy Smith and Dorothy Deppler and great Aunt Lucile Deppler from Meridian, Idaho and many aunts, uncles and cousins in California, Canada and Switzerland.

Leon Janowak was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and served in Europe.

Rosary services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 6 in St. Jude's Catholic Church for Arthur Alexander Renner, 58 of Wofford Heights who died May 28 from injuries received from a head-on auto collision near Bakersfield.

Arthur was a native of Los Angeles, having been born there October 23, 1927. He was a line test man for over 33 years and retired from Pacific Telephone Co. He was a veteran of World War II, a graduate of Loyola High School, was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Parish, the Valley Knights of Columbus, 3rd, degree Council 7927, the Cardinal Mcintyre Assembly fourth degree, Knights of Columbus, at Van Nuys, the Kern Valley Elks Lodge No. 2385 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Van Nuys Post.
He Is survived by his wife, Caroline Renner, of Wofford Heights; parents Alexander and Helen Renner of Sun City; mother in law, Catherine Mitten of Los Angeles; 9 devoted children, Kenneth of Los Angeles, Steven of Lancaster, John of Anderson, Mark of Canyon Country, Raymond, Arthur and David all of Wofford Heights. Horace E. "Ed" Filson of San Juan Capistrano, formerly of Bodfish passed away the morning of June 3. Nr. Filson was a resident of Bodfish from 1968 to 1984.

BILL BELL
A graveside service was held at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside on Tuesday, June 10 for Bill Bell, 76, of Chico, who died June 3 at his residence. He was born March 21, 1910 in Umatilla, Oregon and raised and educated in Athens, Oregon. He later moved to Los Angeles where he worked for Lockheed Aircraft. Mr. Bell served in the U.S. Army as a Technical Sergeant during WW II from 1943 to 1945. He then returned to Los Angeles where he worked at a restaurant for a short time before going to work for Aero Jet General at Downey. In 1972 he retired and moved to Onyx. In 1983 he moved to Chico.
He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Lake Isabella Eagles. Survivors included his son, David Allen Bell, II of San Diego; two daughters, Mary Stirling of Chico, Nelva Nadine Lane of Riverside; a sister Fern Rahauer of Havasu Palms and three grandchildren. The Family has requested that those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Lung Association in care of Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel, which is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Lilo Schmidle Avram, 67, passed away Friday, June 13.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Speranza Avram and Dave Bloch of Sacramento; brothers Werner and Julius Neumann and their families in West Germany.
Lilo moved to the Kern Valley in 1984 from Downey, where she worked as a licensed Vocational Nurse at Rio Hondo Memorial Hospital. While in Lake Isabella, she was a valued employee of the Deadrich family of Wofford Heights.
A native of Germany, Lilo came to the United States in 1960 with her late husband Jack Avram.
She will be missed by her family and friends in Lake Isabella, Los Angeles, Northern California and Germany.
A private fellowship memorial was held at the Deadrich residence Tuesday, June 17. Cremation was private at Mish Funeral Home.

BRUCE EDWARD OVERCASH
A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, June 10 at Valley Mortuary Chapel for Bruce Edward Overcash of Bodfish. Officiating was Joel Astor.
Overcash died June 7 in Lake Isabella as a result of a traffic accident. He is survived by his father Dale Overcash of Culver City; mother Henrietta Overcash of Bodfish; step- mother Judy Overcash of Culver City; sister Dawn Overcash of Livermore; sister Cathy Overcash of Bodfish; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Earl Schutter of Pleasanton; grandmother Jane Overcash of Culver City; niece Tara Overcash of Livermore.
Born Aug. 2, 1966 in Los Angeles, Bruce Edward Overcash was 19.

Edward L. Hayman of Kernville passed away June 21 at the Colonial Convalescent Hospital, Bakersfield. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nina Campbell Hayman. Interment at the Green Hills Memorial Park, San Pedro. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

Fred Haines of Wofford Heights passed away June 29 at the Kern Valley Hospital in Mt. Mesa.
He is survived by his sons William of La Crescenta and Richard of Montana: one sister Lilly of Ann Arbor, Michigan and four grandchildren
Born March 5, 1903 in Michigan, Fred Ralph Haines was 83.

LARRY LEE MAXEY
A graveside funeral service was
conducted Tuesday, June 24 at the Kern River Valley Cemetery Wofford Heights for Larry Lee Maxey of Lakeland Tract, Lake Isabella. Officiating was Bill Reed, minister Church of Christ, Mt. Mesa. Mr. Maxey passed away June 22 at the Kern Medical Center, Bakersfield. He is preceded in death by his mother Virginia, deceased November 1985 and survived by his father, Lawrence L. Maxey of Lake Isabella, daughters Connie York and Dianne Curtis of Denver, Karen Wilson of Ridgecrest, Susan Maxey of Wofford Heights; sister Judy Coble of Diamond Bar and six grandchildren. Larry Lee served with the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1959. Born July 9, 1938 in Southgate, Larry Lee Maxey was 47.
