Graveside funeral service was conducted Tuesday, July 2, at the Kern River Valley Cemetery for Ruth Carnathan of Bodfish. Officiating was Rev. Francis Edge Pastor of the Bodfish Pentecostal Church of God. Mrs. Carnathan passed away June 27 at the Kern Valley Hospital in Mtn. Mesa after a long illiness. She is preceeded in death by her son Thomas, deceased in 1973 and survived by her husband of 43 years, John W. Carnathan, Jr. of Bodfish. sons John W. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday, July 2, at the St. Jude Parish Catholic Church in Wofford heights for Larrayne "Larrie" Graus of Kernville.
Celebrant at the mass was Rev. Monsignor Anthony G. Herdegen, Pastor of St. Jude Parish. Monsignor Herdegen also conducted an evening rosary for Mrs. Graus on Monday at the Valley Mortuary Chapel.
Larrie Graus is preceeded in death by husbands Frank Graus, Sr. deceased in 1966, and Eugene Wheat, deceased in 1975.
She is survived by her son Frank Graus, Jr., of Kernville; sisters, Delilah Doskas of Santa Cruz, Helen Dedberg of Clear Lake, Leona Rusnaco of Minnesota; seven grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
Born Feb. 18, 1916, in St. Paul, Minn., Larrayne Evelyn "Larrie" Graus was 69 years of age.

A graveside funeral service was conducted Wednesday, July 3, at the Kern River Valley Cemetery, Wofford Heights, for Vera R. Smith of Havilah.
Officiating was Rev. Jerry Minck, Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church, Lake Isabella.
Mrs. Smith passed away July 1 at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa.
She is survived by her son, William of Bethesda, Md .; sisters Hazel Erdle of Havilah, Gladys Losey of Tulsa, Okla .; grandson Shawn B. Smith of San Luis Obispo and niece Eudora Benson of Tulsa.
Vera Smith had worked for more than 25 years for Bing Crosby Enterprises in Beverly Hills before retiring to Havilah.

Funeral services were held July 3 at Glen Haven Cemetery in San Fernando for Leonard Curtis Flamank who pased away on June 29 in Mt. Mesa.
Flamank is survived by his wife, Argen, of Kernville; daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and John Roberts of Orange; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He Is also survived by his step- daughters and families: Beverly and Joe Sorce of Oak Run; Jack and Carol Hebb of Acworth, Ga .; eleven grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren.
Flamank was a retired automobile mechanic and spent much of his life in the Los Angeles area.
He was widowed and retired in 1965. Argen and Leonard married in 1966 and resided In San Fernando Valley and Palmdale before permanently locating in Kernville in 1974.
Flamank was active in the Kern River Valley Art Association and in 1980 was awarded an honorary Life Membership in the association. Besides his art, he worte poetry and enjoyed gardening.

A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, July 9, at Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, for Allen A. Lelm of Kernville. Officiating was Rev. Tim Anderson, Pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
Lelm passed away July 5 at the San Joaquin Community Hospital, Bakersfield.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, Albert and Hattie Lelm and two brothers, Lee and Gordon.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita, of Kernville; sons David, Wayne and Mark Lelm of Washburn, No. Dak .; stepsons Bob and Ray Meltzian of Eagle Point, Ore .; brother Reuben Lelm of Venturia, No. Dak .; sisters Lila Boecker and Lois Batesole of Minnesota, Vee Roberts of Indiana, Orlean Hambalek of Georgia, Julie Barrus of Oregon and aix grandchildren.
Lelm was a U.S. Army Veteran of Korea and a member of the Kern Valley Exchange Club and Moose Lodge.

Margie Marline Zambella, 46, Southlake, passed away July 12 at Kern Valley Hospital, Mtn. Mesa. She is survived by her husband, Theodore, Southlake.

BETTY SHARR
A graveside funeral service for Betty A. Sharr of Havilah was conducted Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Kern River Valley Cemetery, Wofford Heights.
Officiating was Fr. David Graham of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Kernville. Mrs. Sharr passed away Aug. 2 at her residence after Illness.
She is survived by her husband Weldon Sharr of Havilah and son, Weldon T. Sharr of Bodfish.
Sharr was a pilot and a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force where she served as a test pilot.
She taught aviation ground school in Bakersfield and served as one of the first air traffic controllers at Meadows Field in Bakersfield.
She was a member of the American Legion Post 711 of the Kern River Valley and of the daughters of the American Revolution.
Born July 3, 1917, in New Jersey, Betty Allsop Sharr was 68.

Margaret E. Walters of Kernville passed away July 30 at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mountain Mesa, She is survived by her husband, Robert. Born Nov. 13, 1918, in Ohio, Margaret Elizabeth Walters was 66. Cremation arrangements by Valley Mortuary of Lake Isabella.
LEO JOSEPH LOEFFLER
Rosary services were held July 25 at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Wofford Heights, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection for Leo Joseph Loeffler, 60, of Bodfish who died of injuries recieved in a non-collision auto accident in the Kern County on June 19.
Msgr. Anthony Herdegen served as celebrant and burial was held in the Kern River Cemetery.
Loeffler was a native of North St. Paul, Minn., and had lived in the Bodfish area for the past nine years. He was a foreman for more than 32 years and was affiliated with Northrup Aircraft Co. in El Segundo before his retirement. He was a member of St. Jude's
Catholic Parish, Wofford Heights, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Forresters.
Loeffler was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Magne, of Bodfish; a daughter, Joyce Marie Machuszek of Manhattan Beach; his god-children Jodie Oscarson of Wisconsin, Liz Loeffler of San Francisco and Steven Arnt of Minnesota; his brothers, Herbert, Al, Gilmore and Wenzel A. She is survived by her husband, Edward A. Frazer, of Wofford Heights; two daughters, Sally A. Giroud, Van Nuys and Carole Neilsen of Pasadena; brother, Merton Howe of Hawaii; sisters, Nira Flader, Garden Grove, Enid Lester. Wyoming and Clair Bergenis; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren
Her ashes will be scattered near Greenhorn mountain by family at a later date

MARTHA MICHEL
A memorial service will be conducted Monday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. at the Foursquare Church, Wofford Heights, for Martha Michel of Lake Isabella. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Ruff, Pastor.
Mrs. Michel passed away Aug. 18 at Memorial Hospital, Bakersfield.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Sylvia Michel of Lake Isabella; son, Howard Michel of New Jersey; grandchildren, Karen Lownes, Don Michel and Eddy Michel of Lake Isabella; Marian Van Sickle and Pauline Plasencia of Pomona and seven great- grandchildren.
Born Oct. 30, 1888, in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, Martha Josephine Michel was 96.
Interment of ashes In Jersey City, New Jersey. Cremation arrangements by Valley Mortuary.
PEARL E. CORDT
A gravealde service was conducted Monday, Aug. 19, at the Kern River Valley cemetery for Pearl E. Cordt of Lake Isabella. Officiating was Joel Astor of the Valley Mortuary staff.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Gerald Cordt, and mother, Etta May Brown.
She is survived by a cousin, Betty Green of Bakersfield.
Born Sept. 14, 1903, in Blue Earth, Minn., Pearl Etta Cordt was 81.

ELEANOR SNAPE
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at a date to be arranged for Eleanor Snape of Lake Isabella. Officiating will be Father David Graham, paator of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Kernville.
Mrs. Snape passed away Aug. 15 at the Bakersfield Convalescent Hospital, Bakersfield.
She waa preceeded in death by her husband, Herbert, and survived by her sister, Margaret Avery of Everett, Wash.
Born Jan. 12, 1906, in New Jersey, Eleanor Snape was 79.
Interment of ashes at the Kern River Valley Cemetery. Arrangements for cramation by Valley Mortuary.
DONNA BENNETT
Services will be held Friday, Aug. 23, at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cypress for Donna Bennett who passed away August 18 at Kern Medical Center, Bakersfield.
She is survived by her husband, Elgin, of Weldon; son, Lee, Bakersfield; parents Loice and Sylva Brown of Lake Isabella and brother Clyde Brown of Long Beach.
Born April 13, 1937, in Long Beach, Donna marie Bennett was 48.
JOSEPH STITH
A graveside service was conducted Saturday, Aug. 17, at Kern River Valley cemetery for Joseph Stith of Lake Isabella. Officiating was Rev. Linda Inlow, pastor of Highland Chapel United Methodist Church, Lake Isabella.
Stith passed away Aug. 14 at the San Joaquin Community Hospital, Bakersfield.
He is survived by his brother, Jim, of Lake Isabella; sister, Ruth Colberg, of Illinois and sister Esther Cox of California; four nephewa and three nieces.
Joseph Stith had been a realdent of the Kern Valley for the past two years.
