CONNECTICUT CAVALRY.
FIRST REGIMENT.
(This regiment was first organized at Madison, Conn., November 2, 1861, for three years, (as a battalion of four companies.) Additional com- panies were organized as follows : one (E) of recruits forwarded from the State from August 9, 1862, to July 28, 1863; two (F and G) at Baltimore, Md., October 5, 1863; five at various dates between No- vember, 1863, and February, 1864. Original members were mustered out by detachments in November and December, 1864 ; and the organ- ization, composed of veterans and recruits, remained in service until August 2, 1865, when it was dis- charged, in accordance with orders from the War Department.)
