Report of Water Commissioners
The Water Department completed the 300-foot tran- sit pipe extension to Vardic Golash's house on Kingsley Avenue, and moved the hydrant located at the junction of Maple Street and Kingsley Avenue to the north side of Kingsley Avenue. Two broken hydrants were repaired, four curb boxes replaced, seven new installations made, and five old connections renewed with copper tubing.
Work on the water shed included: cutting brush in the fire lane and along the highway at the top of the hill, two new bridges built which provide access to the water shed from two directions, and all springs cleaned.
The test work, authorized at the last annual town meeting, was completed. Test holes were drilled at the old ball field, Raymond Sylvester's farm and on Robert Hodgkin's property in Searsville. A sufficient supply of water was located on the Sylvester farm. During the 144-hour pump test, samples of water, checked by the State Department of Public Health, showed the water to be of excellent quality. The test work was done by the Lane New York Company.
Water restrictions were imposed this summer and fall, again forcibly reminding us that some method of increasing the water supply should be decided upon and a plan to carry it to completion adopted.
All additional outlets to existing plumbing should be reported to the Water Board in writing. Water de- partment regulations prohibit the opening and closing
48
of curb boxes by anyone other than the water department, except in emergency, or by express permission of the Water Board.
Delinquent water rate accounts are increasing which indicate the need for some legal action to be taken in fairness to those who do keep up the accounts.
CHARLES SABO, HOWARD SANDERSON, ELMER NUTTING, Water Commissioners.
