TOWN OF ROCKLAND
REPORT OF SUPERINTENDENT OF THE JOINT WORKS
Joint Board of Water Commissioners of Abington and Rockland
Gentlemen:
I hereby submit my report as Superintendent for the year ending December 31, 1938.
The usual analysis of water from Big Sandy and Little Sandy Pond has been made by the State Board of Health. Also, samples of water from Big Sandy Pond were mailed each month from March to October, inclusive, to Law- rence Experiment Station for bacterial examinations.
Mr. Bolling of Brockton made analysis twice during the summer.
The residence was partly painted last fall and will be finished this year.
Due to the heavy rain in July and the hurricane in September extra labor was required to repair damage.
The hydrants were painted and tested during the year.
Two services were renewed and one service leak re- paired.
I would recommend during the coming year that some repairs in masonry be done at the Pumping Station.
276
SIXTY-FIFTH ANNUAL REPORT
The cottage owners' property has been inspected three times during the past year and it is in good condition.
The financial report of the Joint Works will be found under the report of the Water Registrar.
Respectfully submitted,
WILLIAM H. BROWN, Joint Superintendent

SIGNALS FOR NO SESSIONS OF SCHOOL
Fire Station Siren
A. M.
7:30 - 2 2 repeated: No session of High School.
8:15 - 22 repeated: No forenoon session for first six grades.
P. M.
12:45 - 22 repeated: No afternoon session for first six grades.
The "No School Signal" is used only in extremely stormy weather. The school bus starts on its first trip in the morning ten minutes after seven o'clock in order to collect the children in time for the opening of high school at 8:30 A. M. and the elementary schools at 9:00 A. M. Unless the signal is used before 7:00 o'clock many of the children are already on their way by bus. It is very dif- ficult to determine weather conditions for the day as early as seven o'clock except in cases of severe storms.
