THE BOARD HEREBY CERTIFIES that the location granted to the Lowell & Fitchburg Street Railway Company for the tracks of its railway in the Town of Westford, under the order of the Board of Selectmen of said Town dated May 9, 1903, a copy of which order is on file with this petition, and described upon a plan on file in this office, is consistent with the public interests.

Gentlemen :- We, a majority of the Board of Directors of the Lowell & Fitchburg Street Railway Company, hereby accept the order of your Board, dated May 9th, 1903, whereby a location in accordance with law has been granted to the Lowell & Fitch- burg Street Railway Company in the Town of Westford, said location being accompanied with plans duly filed and agreed to by your Board, which plans were and are a part of said location. Said order of May 9th, 1903, and the plans, which are a part thereof, having been duly approved by the Board of Railroad Commissioners of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under certificate of said Board, dated May 28th, 1903.

GUIDE POSTS AND GUIDE BOARDS.
The following report on guide posts and guide boards is submitted.
During the past year we have placed new guide boards at the following places, with the name of the street or road as adopted by the town: one near West Graniteville Station; one at the corner of the Concord and Beaver Brook Road; two at the corner of the Graniteville and Coldspring Road, near the house of Quincy W. Day; two at the corner of Depot Street and the Coldspring Road, near the Fletcher farm; two at the corner of Depot Street and Cummings Road, with new post; two at the junction of Depot Street and Main Street, at Drew's Corner;

one at the corner of Leland Street and Providence Road, near the house of O. A. Davis; one at the corner of Plain Road and Stony Brook Road. When guide boards need renewing each year the name of the street or road should be put on.

The yearly loss and expense of forest fires is getting to be an item of considerable amount. During the past 10 years, 1,582 acres have been burned over, at an estimated damage of $12,503, and a cost to the town for labor fighting fires of $1,331.37. Here are the plain facts which every tax payer and property holder should think of and endeavor to do all they can to pre- vent this yearly loss and expense.
