They were living at Matinicus, 1860/1872, when he held various town offices. Among their children were the following :

Daniel Wagner, son of George and Margaret (Corkman) Wagner, was born at Liverpool, N. S., in 1843, and died at Matinicus Aug. 10, 1919. He married, Nov. 18, 1877, Ella Hall, daughter of James and Mary A. (Clark) Hall. She was born at St. George Feb. 5, 1858, and died Aug., 1915. The following children were born to them :

WALLACE


Thaddeus A. Wallace, son of Albert and Clarissa Wallace, was one of a family of twelve children, and was born at Rockport, Me., July 30, 1853. He removed to Owl's Head with his parents, and at the age of twenty-one, went to Portland and for several years was a mariner from that port. In 1880, while on a visit to Matinicus, he became acquainted with Ellen A. Tolman, whom he married on Mar. 12, 1882. For several years now, his was the life of a Matinicus fisherman. In 1887 he was appointed 3d assistant keeper at the "Rock Light," rose to 1st assistant, and in 1891, was transferred to Tenant's Harbor, where as principal keeper, his death occurred on Sept. 23, 1898. His wife was the only child of Iddo K. and Sally Susan (Ames) Tolman, and was born Nov. 7, 1860. Their union was blessed with one child-Burton T.


Burton T. Wallace, son of Thaddeus A. and Ellen (Tol- man) Wallace, was born at Tenant's Harbor, Jan. 30, 1895. Came with his widowed mother and lived at Matinicus. He married Beatrice M. Rawley, daughter of Charles W. and Laura (Meservey) Rawley of Tenant's Harbor, who was born Feb. 6, 1898. He served in the navy in the Great War, and was lost with the mail packet, Jan. 29, 1920. One daughter was born to them: Marion E. b. Oct. 28, 1915.


Grover C. Wallace, son of James and Maria (Miller) Wallace, was born in Lubec, Me., Nov. 26, 1884. He mar- ried, Sept. 23, 1908, Maud W. Parker, daughter of Emery W. and Lydia T. (Woodbury) Parker. She was born at North Pownal, Mar. 4, 1880. They went to the "Rock" in 1908, where he served as an assistant keeper for three years; then removed to Matinicus, where they have since resided; no children.


WARDWELL


Alfred H. Wardwell was living here in 1881, and for some years after. He married here, on May 1, 1884, Julia

Dunton, and they afterwards moved away.


WILSON


Robert Wilson was of Scotch descent. He was born Feb. 27, 1812. He came from Nova Scotia and lived at Criehaven and Matinicus. He married, (1) Jan. 24, 1844, Olive Crie, daughter of John and Sallie (Emery) Crie; she was born Jan. 24, 1816, and died May 5, 1875. He married, (2) Feb. 27, 1877, Mrs. Frances Smith, widow of John Smith and daughter of William and Ruth (Condon) Young; she was born Jan. 20, 1831, and died Oct. 6, 1888. He died Oct. 9, 1888.


Adam M. Wilson was born in March, 1855. His wife's name was Mina Carey and she was born Sept., 1865. They came to Matinicus in 1924, from Rockland. They have a daughter :

YOUNG


Rowland1 Young was one of the first settlers at Old York, Me., arriving there before 1640. He died in 1685. His wife's name was Joanne; she died in 1698/9. Among their children was a son named Job2, who in turn had a son named Joseph.


Joseph3 Young (Job2, Rowland1), son of Job Young, married Sarah King, daughter of Richard and Hannah (Preble) King, of Kittery. They had a large family of children, among whom was Joseph.


Joseph+ Young (Joseph3, Job2, Rowland1), son of Joseph and Sarah (King) Young, was born Dec. 1, 1715; he married (pub. Dec. 27, 1740) Susannah Johnson. They had two sons-Abraham and Joseph.


Abraham" Young (Joseph4, Joseph3, Job2, Rowland1), son of Joseph and Susannah (Johnson) Young, was born Jan. 8, 1742. He married, Nov. 11, 1763, Phoebe Young,

daughter of Job and Patience ( King) Young, who was born May 8, 1744. Phoebe was a descendant of Rowland and a cousin to her husband. They removed from York to Matin- icus about 1765, the second family to settle here per- manently. Thirteen children were born to them as follows : SUSANNAH b. Aug. 9, 1764; m. Amos Andrews.

Tolman Young (Ebenezer6, Abraham", Joseph4, Joseph3, Job2, Rowland1), son of Ebenezer and Hannah (Philbrook) Young, was born Nov. 6, 1809; he married Oct. 20, 1833, Almira T. Crie, daughter of Ebenezer and Sallie (Burgess) Crie, who was born Mar. 25, 1814. Tolman was one of the first board of assessors, when Matinicus was incorporated as a plantation. In 1857 he removed with his family to Liberty, where he died in March, 1900. His wife died Jan., 1902. Their children were:

They spent most of their lives at Matinicus where he was a successful trader; was Justice of the Peace for forty-five years, during which time he married sixty-five couples; he was a member of the Maine Legislature in 1851/2; was influential in plantation affairs for many years, having been elected to nearly all of the offices. In their later years he and his wife removed to Rockland, where they died,- he, Apr. 16, 1916,-she, Sept. 15, 1918. The following children were born to them :

(Young) Young, was born Sept. 24, 1894; he married Nettie Fowler, daughter of Edwin and Mary (Goodspeed) Fowler of Albion, Me. She was born Feb. 18, 1892. They have the following children :

According to the census of 1790, Benjamin Young was living here then, the head of a family of six-himself and five females. There is no further record of him, and no information concerning him or his family is available.

Timothy Young, born Dec. 25, 1747, son of Job and Patience, brother to Ebenezer Hall's wife and to Abraham Young's wife, was living here in 1800. Also living here at that time was a Timothy Young, Jr., from Passamaquoddy ; he married, Nov. 29, 1799, Abigail, daughter of Ebenezer and Susannah (Young) Hall, who was born Mar: 6, 1781. Presumably Timothy died, as Abigail married (2) May 11, 1809, Deacon Josiah Ingraham.


Record of the children of Job3 Young, Jr., (Job2, Row- land1) and his wife Patience (King), recorded on town book of Old York. Job and Patience were married Dec. 7, 1727; she died July 26, 1790, aged 89 years.
