History and Purpose. - Founded in 1829, it opened its doors for classes on May 1, 1832. It continued as an educa- tional institution until January 25, 1941, when it became a National Youth Administration Resident Work Center. It accepted gifts and deposits and did not buy, sell, or exchange manuscripts; but it may soon dispose of its collections and equipment. It was housed in a two-story, nonfireproof, brick and stone building, erected in 1850, affording ample space for the storage and consul- tation of manuscripts.

History and Purpose. - Founded in 1903 to provide reading and reference material for the inhabitants of Morrisville and to collect and preserve historical materials of local interest. It does not buy, sell, or exchange manuscripts, but accepts gifts and loans. It is housed in a two-story, nonfireproof, frame build- ing, constructed about 1855, with adequate space for the storage and use of manuscripts.
