History and Purpose. - Founded in 1854, the Museum specializes in military history; and its collections include ord- nance and ammunition, flags, trophies, and other material collected by graduates stationed at post's all over the world. It is housed in the Stone Administration Building, occupying seven connecting rooms on the second and third floors, affording ample space for its manuscript holdings and exhibits.

The library is housed in the Cutting Memorial Hall, a large, square, frame building, erected in 1888, with adequate space for records.

History and Purpose. - The Elijah Miller House was built about 1738 and was used by General Washington as headquarters after the Battle of White Plains. It was bought by the supervisors of Westchester County and placed in the hands of the White Plains Chapter of the Daughters of the American Recolution for restoration and custody. It was opened to the public in 1917 for the purpose of collecting, preserving, and exhibiting materials relating to the Millers, their house, and Washington and his era. Only outright gifts are accepted. The House is a two-story, nonfireproof, clapboard structure, with ample space for its collections and exhibits.

History and Purpose. ~ Founded Sopt. 16, 1874 and incorporated under the laws of the State of New York. Oct. 10, 1875, its objects are to gather and preserve records relating particularly to Westchester County and to the history of the state and nation in general. Manuscripts are seldom purchased and never sold or ex- changed, but gifts are welcomed. The Society's headquarters and library are located in the County Office Building, a nine-story, fireproof, brick and stone structure, erected in 1911. The prosont space allotted to the Society for its material is inadequate.

History and Purpose. - Founded in 1922 to provide reading material for the general public. It accepts gifts, but will not buy, sell or exchange manuscripts. The library is housed in a one-story, nonfireproof, woodon building, with adequate space for its holdings.

A. Miscellaneous Material on Old Windham, 1785-1824, 1 v., written by Col. George ROBERTSON. Includes a history of the Center Presbyterian Church in Windham, with reminiscences citing Capt. George ST IMPSON and his son Henry as the first settlers in Windham in 1785, a brief history of the life of Capt. George ST IMPSON and his family, and a brief sketch of the commencement of the War of 1812.
B. Record of conveyance by Laban ANDREWS and his wife to the Windham town committee (Isaac MILES, Henry GOSLEE and Munson BUELL) of a tract of land to be used as a burial ground, Sept. 26, 1798.
