PURCHASE KO"TELY MEETING. (H) Established 4th Mo. 9, 1725 being the first l'onthly Meeting on "the rain", and the third in the province. It was generally called the "Monthly Meeting for Westchester" at first and was a part of what is now Westbury Quarterly Meeting until the establishment of Purchase Quarterly Meeting 6th Y'o. 3, 1745.

By the wording of the minutes it would seem to have been generally held at the meeting house at Westchester till 7th No. 12, 1728, then "at the house of Josiah Quinby" at Mamaroneck till 9th No. 11, 1731, then "at Mamaroneck" till 10th No. 11, 1739, when the meeting house was built, then "at the meeting house in Mamaroneck" till 3rd No. 13, 1742, when for the first time it was held at Purchase, and thereafter for some years twice at l'amaroneck and once at Purchase, preceding each Quarterly l'eeting. Held alternately at Chappaqua from till that was set off as a separate M.M., 1785. Held alternately at
