Born May 15, 1869, at Toledo, Ohio; son of Henry Selden and Jane (Brown) Waite. Educated in Toledo High School and Massachusetts Institute of Technol- ogy. After being graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology began work immediately with the C. C. C. & St. L. R. R. as transitman and in 1891 became engineer of maintenance of way of the Big Four on the St. Louis division. In 1893 he went with the C. N. O. & T. P. at Lexington as division engineer, later was roadmaster on the same division and in 1899 was made superintendent. From 1905 to 1907 he was superintendent of the Chattanooga division of the same road, during which time a great deal of double tracking was done on the division. In 1907 was made superintendent of the Sea Board Air Line. 1909 vice-president and chief engineer of the Clinchfield Coal Cor- poration at Dante, Va. In 1912 was made chief engineer of the Department of Public Works in Cincinnati, which posi- tion he occupied until he was made the first City Manager of Dayton, Ohio, which duties he assumed January 1st, 1914.

Went with the Island Creek Coal Sales Company as Western Manager at Cincinnati in 1905, and has been with that company in same position since that time. Mr. Mcveigh has large mining interests in Logan County, W. Va., on the C. & O. Railway and in Pike County. Ky., on the N. & W. Railway. He is a member of the Queen City Club, Business Men's Club and Hamilton County Golf Club. Was married in Louisville, Ky., June, 1911, to Bonnie Foree Gallagher.

Mr. Sumner Cross is a young man of splendid executive ability. He was formerly secretary of the "Detroit Conference." Was the first solicitor in the field for the Columbia Life Insurance Co., of which he is at present Secretary and General Manager, having charge of the investments in connection with his other duties. Morris, Provision Broker, in 1876; entered Citizens' Nation- al Bank, December 6. 1880, as assistant bookkeeper, advanced to assistant cashier, which position he held for about fourteen years; resigned March 1. 19022, to engage in investment brokerage business with office in Masonic Temple. Third Street: removed to 309 and 310 Mercantile Li- brary Building, in 1904. Secretary and Treasurer Cincinnati Stock Exchange for the past five years. Member Chamber of Commerce, Business Men's Club and Automobile Club, Cincinnati; Hamilton Club, Hamilton, Ohio. Married Decem- ber 10, 1884, to Emma T. Casey; two sons, George H. and Robert C. Beazell.

Started in business for himself April 17, 1900, with fifty dol- lars, renting desk room at 438 Madison avenue. He is today agent for the Hart- ford Fire Insurance Company, of Hart- ford. Conn., and several other large com- panies, and a Director of the Commercial National Bank. Belongs to Industrial Club of Covington, Episcopal Church Club of Cincinnati, F. & A. M. and Royal Arch Masons.
