ANTHONY BOEDEKER.

Wholesale Wines and Whiskies. Offices at 508-10 Main Street.

Anthony Boedeker was born May 7, 1880, in Cincinnati, where he received his education, and at the age of nineteen en- tered the employ of his father, Henry Boedeker, one of the class of substantial and German pioneers of whom Cincinnati is justly proud. He was born in Holland and when quite a young man came to this country. He accepted a position with a large distillery in Baltimore, where he learned the liquor business.

After leaving Baltimore he came to Cincinnati and took employment with the firm of B. G. Stall & Co., wholesale groc- ers and liquor dealers, having full control of the liquor department.

In 1876 he left the employ of B. G. Stall & Co. to engage in the wine and liquor business for himself, at 508 and 510 Main street, opposite the postoffice, where the firm is still located. The pol- icy adopted by the founder of this firm, was to handle only the highest and best quality of goods.

During his entire business career he adhered strictly to the motto adopted when he founded the business, thereby gaining the confidence of the trade which remained loyal to him and still continue to do business with the old establishment, now conducted by his two sons, Frederick and Anthony, whose education in the business was taught them by their father, which began immediately after they left school. That their lesson was well learned is shown by the reputation that "Boedeker" has not only maintained, but by the spreading of the business, both local and throughout Ohio and other states, showing a constant growth.
