ANTILL, JAMES DAVID Son of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Antill, 264 Addison St. Born March 30, 1897. Was inducted into service September 15, 1918. He went to Camp Greenleaf and was attached to the 112th Ambu- lance Corps and later 103rd Sani- tary Train, 28th Division. Octo- ber 24 he sailed for France and returned May 9, 1919. Private Antill was honorably discharged from the service May 21, 1919.


ARENT, FRED, Caldwell Ave .- Born January 5, 1897. Was inducted into service Sep- tember 3, 1918, sent to Camp Forrest and attached to the 72nd Engineers. He was transferred to Camp Hill. Sailed for France October 20, 1918. Returned to the United States May 14, 1919, and was honorably discharged from service on May 20, 1919.

Was gassed and returned to the United States January 10, 1919. Private Armstrong was honor- ably discharged from the service January 24, 1919.


ARMSTRONG, EARL M .- Son of Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Arm- strong, 169 Church St. Born Oc- tober 19, 1892. Enlisted Decem- ber 5, 1917, in the Air Service. Was sent to Kelly Field and at- tached to the 327th Squadron. He was a chauffeur, and was honorably discharged from ser- vice February 14, 1919.


ARNOLD, EDWARD-Son of Alex and Mattie Arnold. En- listed with Co. H. 110th Inf., 28th Div., in May, '17. He went to Camp Hancock, and on Nov. 23 was made Corp. Sailed for France with 28th in May, '18. and, after being through Ar- gonne, Meuse, and many other battles, was gassed and returned to a hospital. Corp. Arnold sailed for home in May, honorably dis- charged that month.


ASBURY, JAMES D., 107 Gibson Ave .- Born December 7, 1894. Was inducted into service August 3, 1918. Sent to Camp Custer and placed with Company E, 812th Infantry. He was trans- ferred to Camps Grant, Merritt, and Sherman, and was honorably discharged from service Decem- ber 24, 1918.


ASBURY, SAMUEL J .- Son of William Alex Asbury, 140 Mill St. Born October 23, 1890. Was inducted into service Au- gust 3, 1918, and was sent to Camp Sherman and placed with Company B, 802 Infantry. He sailed for France August 27, 1918.


ATKINSON, BENJAMIN T. -Son of James Atkinson, 1235 Allison Ave. Born August 26, 1892. Enlisted with Company H, IIoth Infantry. He was sent to Camp Hancock and with the rest of the Company was made a part of 28th Div. In May, '18, he sailed for France and went through all the largest battles safely. Returned to U. S. in May, '19, honorably discharged about ten ยท days later.


AULT, LESTER E .- Son of John and Aletha Ault, 272 Locust Ave. Born January 15, 1891. Enlisted March 15, 1918, with the Aviation Department of the United States Army. He was sent to Kelly Field, 144th Squad- ron, and later became a chauffeur there. Private Ault was honor- ably discharged January 22, 1919.


BABBITT, CHARLES N .- Son of Mrs. Emma Babbitt, 78 Addison St. Born October 22, 1886. Enlisted May 8, 1917, with Company H, Ioth Infantry, 28th Division. He was honorably dis- charged from service February 2, 1918, on account of physical disability.


BAKER, GEORGE STACY --- Son of Charles E. Baker, 127 LeMoyne Ave. Born July 30, 1897. Enlisted with Company H, 50th Infantry, 20th Division, April 30, 1918. He was sent to Camp Raridan, Camp Mills, Camp Sevier, Camp Wadsworth, and Camp Sherman. Private Baker was honorably discharged from the United States Army, March 21, 1919.


BAKER, FRANK N .- Son of David E. Baker, 82 E. Prospect Ave. Born November 12, 190I. Enlisted September 19, 1917, and was sent to Camp Sherman. He was attached to the 332nd Infan- try of the 83rd Division and was later sent to Camp Mills. June 13, 1918, he sailed overseas, and was engaged in most of the larger battles. Private Baker re- turned home Apr. 14, '19 ; honor- ably discharged Apr. 25, '19.


BAKER, ELLIS E .- Son of Charles Baker, 127 LeMoyne Ave. Born Feb. 23, 1893. Was inducted into service July 31, 1918. Sent to Camp Forrest, and attached to Company E, 218th Engineers. 4Ist Division. He went overseas. Returned to the United States, and was honor- ably discharged April 7, 1919.


BAMONTE, JOHN, 282 Houston St .- Son of John Ba- monte, Bellosquardo Salerno, Italy. Born April 13, 1897. Was inducted into service May 24, 1918. Private Bamonte was sent to France November 14, 1918.

Banks re- turned from overseas Feb. 27, '19; honorably discharged Mar. 21, 1919.


BARBELLA, NICOLA G .- Son of Joseph Barbella, 352 S. Main St. Born August 21, 1897. Enlisted in the S. A. T. C. at the University of Pittsburgh and as- signed to Company E. Private Barbella was honorably dis- charged December 13, 1918.


BARBOUR, JAMES WIL- LIAM-Son of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Barbour, Arden. Born Sep- tember 24, 1897. Enlisted with Company H, Hoth Infantry, 28th Division. He was sent to Camp Hancock. Sailed for France May 3, '18. Wounded in right hand and right side at Chateau Thierry. Returned to U. S. Jan. 25, '19, and was honorably dis- charged from service Mar. 5, '19.


BARNETT, WALTER O .- Son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bar- nett, 136 E. Walnut St. Born February 27, 1899. Enlisted April 17, 1917, in the Cavalry. He was assigned to Troop H, Ioth Cavalry, at Camp Hauchaua. Was made Corporal and did bor- der patrol.


BARNHOUSE, RALPH AL- BERT-Son of W. M. Barn- house, 45 Fayette St. Born Feb- ruary 10, 1896. Enlisted in the Navy May 8, 1918. He was sent to Cape May. Was assigned to U. S. S. Lake Lascang. Was a 3rd Class Quartermaster. Sailed overseas September 1, 1918.


BARNHOUSE, WILLIAM C .- Son of Mrs. W. May Barn- house, 45 Fayette St. Born Oc- tober 29, 1898. Enlisted Novem- ber 9, 1918, in the Tank Corps. He was sent to Camp Pope, as- signed to Company B, 342nd Bat- talion. Transferred to Camps Greene and Meade, and was hon- orably discharged from service January 3, 1919.


BARROWS, MORRIS E .- Son of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Bar- rows, 231 W. Wheeling St. Born October 13, 1889. Enlisted March 6, 1917, with Machine Gun Company, 28th Regiment, Ist Division. He was given the rank of Sergeant, and on June I, 1917, sailed for France. Ser- geant Barrows was in many of the large battles having his arm broken by shrapnel in one of them.


BARROWS, GEORGE-Son of Mr. and Mrs. H. I. Barrows, 231 W. Wheeling St. Born April 25, 1894. Enlisted with Company H. Ioth Infantry, 28th Division, September 7, 1918. May 12, 1918, he sailed for France. Remained with Com- pany H until the battle of the Marne, when he was gassed and sent back to a hospital. Returned from overseas May 13, '19; hon- orably discharged May 19, '19, with rank of Corporal.


BAUER, GEORGE B .- Son of S. B. and Louisa Bauer, Lo- cust Ave., Extension. Born June 8, 1896. Was inducted into ser- vice September 13, 1918. He was sent to Camp Forrest and at- tached to Company A, 137th En- gineers. Baner was made Ser- geant and sailed for France Oc- tober 20, 1918.


BAUM, GEORGE LOCK- HART-Son of Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Baum, 288 E. Wheeling St. Born April 11, 1897. Enlisted March 18, 1917, in the American Field Service in France. He sailed overseas in April, 1917. Was cited twice by the French Government. Returned to the United States May 30, 1919, and was honorably discharged from service June 4, 1919.


BAUMAN, CHARLES-Son of Mrs. Margaret Bauman, 19 S. Franklin St. Born July 14, 1895. Enlisted with Company H, IIoth Infantry, 28th Division. He was sent to Camp Hancock, then Camp Merritt, and was sta- tioned there until he was honor- ably discharged from service April 23, 1919.


BAUMBERGER, FRED J .- Son of Fred and Emma Baum- berger, 420 E. Maiden St. Born Feb. 17, '96. Inducted into ser- vice Dec. 15, '17, sent to Camp Sherman, and placed with 322nd Art., 83rd Div. He went to Camp Mills. Sailed for France in June, '18. Was in Argonne Forest and Battle of Verdun. Wounded in arm, returned to a hospital, and sent home in March.

BEARD, HOWARD A .- Son of George Beard, Washington R. D. 8. Born September 7, 1897. Was inducted into service Octo- ber 28, 1918. He was placed with Company 413, Battalion 5, of the Marine Corps and sent to Paris Island. Private Beard was hon- orably discharged from the ser- vice of the United States May 31, 1919.


BEATTY, HORACE MIL- TON-Son of W. J. Beatty, 279 Locust Ave. Born December 6, 1898. Enlisted May 20, 1917, with Company H, Ioth Infantry, 28th Division. Returned to the United States May 16, 1919, and was honorably dis- charged from service May 27, I919.


BECK, GEORGE H .- Son of Mrs. Magdalena Beck. Born February 1, 1897. Was inducted into service September 3, 1918. Sent to Camp Forrest and was placed with the Engineer Corps. He was later transferred to Camp Sherman, and honorably discharged from the service of the United States December 20, 1918.


BEIERLEIN, DANIEL PATRICK -- Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Beierlein, 680 Allison Ave. Born January 19, 1892. Went into service May 24, 1918. Bigger was in special service, stationed at Greensburg with Headquar- ters Company and later at Camp Colt. Honorably discharged from service in January, 1919.


BLACK, WILLIAM J .- Son HAM-Son of James D. and . of George. Black, 154 Jefferson Ave. Born August 14, 1885. En- listed June 16, 1916, with Battery A, Ist Field Artillery. He was stationed at Fort McDonald, Cal. Sailed overseas in July, 1916. Returned to the United States in December, 1918, and was honor- ably discharged March 17, 1919.


BLACKA, HARRY-Son of Samuel Blacka, 131 Maple Ave. Born Feb. 20, '90. Enlisted with Co. H, 110th Inf., 28th Div. Went to Camp Hancock and Camp Dix, then sailed for France in May, '18. Priv. Blacka was slightly gassed and was wounded in leg during the St. Mihiel offensive. Returned to U. S. in May, '19; honorably dis- charged later that month.


BLACKHURST, MAR- SHALL H .- Son of T. H. Blackhurst, 210 Park Ave. Born November 20, 1888. Was in- ducted into service September 6, 1918. Prior to that time he was employed in one of the glass fac- tories. He was sent to Camp Dix, then Cape May, and on De- cember 15, 1918, Private Black- hurst was honorably discharged from the service of the United States.


BLACKHURST, JAMES K. -Son of T. H. Blackhurst, 210 Park Ave. Born March 19, 1892. Enlisted October 13, 1917, and was sent to Columbus Barracks. There he was placed with Troop I, Cavalry 5, and was made sad- dler of Troop. Blackhurst was sent to Fort Bliss.


BLAIR, THOMAS MUR- RAY-Son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Blair, 3 E. Beau St. Born October 2, 1893. Enlisted December 9. 1917, in the Marine Corps. He was assigned to Paris Island. Was made Corporal, and was honorably discharged from service February 15, 1919.


BLOND, ARTHUR CLARK -Son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Blond, 113 S. Franklin St. Born March 1, 1897. Enlisted with Company H, Hoth Infantry, 28th Div., July 5. '17. Sent to Camp Hancock. Transferred to Camp Merritt, and sailed for France May 3, '18. Wounded twice and gassed. Returned to U. S. Mar. 13, '19; honorably discharged April 25.

Was awarded a Distinctive Service Cross for ex- ceptional bravery. Returned to U. S. March 31, 1919; honorably discharged April 13, 1919.


BOB, FREDERICK JOHN- Son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bob, 290 Broad St. Born No- vember 27, 1889. Was inducted into service April 3, 1918. Was sent to Camp Lee and attached to Headquarters Company, 319th Infantry, 80th Division. He went overseas May 17, 1918. Returned to the United States June 2, 1919. and was honorably discharged later that month with the rank of Corporal.

BRIDGES, GEORGE K .- Son of W. R. and Dixie M. Bridges. Born June 28, '89. In- ducted into service in July, '18. Sent to Camp Sherman and placed with Motor Transporta- tion Corps. Was made First Sergeant. Sailed for France Aug. 25, '18. Returned to U. S. May 15, 'I9; honorably discharged May 17, 1919.


BRIDGES, EDWARD M .- Son of W. R. and Dixie M. Bridges. Born March 13, 1894. Was inducted into service in May, 1918. Was sent to Camp Greenleaf and attached to Hos- pital Unit No. 22. He sailed for France August 18, 1918.


BRIDGES, RICHARD K .- Son of W. R. and Dixie M. Bridges. Born August 28, 1900. Enlisted June 22, 1918, with Company H, Hoth Infantry, 28th Division. He sailed overseas May 3. 1918.


BRIGHTWELL, WILLIAM N .- Son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Brightwell, 511 W. Chestnut St. Born September 2, 1896. Was inducted into service February 7, 1918. Sent to Camp Meade and placed with the Ordnance. He was transferred to Camp Metu- chen. Was made First Sergeant, and was honorably discharged from service March 27, 1919.


BRITTON, OWEN-Son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Britton, 308 Allison Ave. Born February 27, 1900. Enlisted with Company H, Iroth Infantry, 28th Division, April 27, 1917. He was assigned to Camp Hancock. Sailed for France May 3, 1918. Returned to the United States May 23, 1919, and was discharged from service later that month.


BROCK, WILLIAM V .- Son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Brock, 229 College St. Born February 28, 1895. Enlisted with Company D, 15th Engineers, April 18, 1917. Was sent to Camp Gaylord, and sailed for France July 9, 1917. He was at the front from August I until the armistice was signed. April 28 he returned to the United States. and was honorably discharged May 15 with the rank of Corpo- ral.


BROMELY. J. ARCH-Son of Charles and Elenor Bromely, 162 Addison Ave. Born June 30, 1887. Was inducted into service September 19, 1917. Was sent to Camp Sherman and placed with the 308th Engineers. He was made Corporal. Sailed for France June 4, 1918. Returned to the United States June 26, 1919, and was honorably dis- charged from service July 7, IQI9.


BROOKS, MILES BURTON -Son of Mrs. Elizebeth Brooks, 424 Jefferson Ave. Born April 25, 1898. Enlisted with Company H, Ioth Infantry, 28th Division, July 19, 1917, and was sent to Camp Hancock. He sailed over- seas May 12, 1918. Private Brooks contracted blood poison, and was returned to the United States as a casual, January 31, 1919.


BROOKS, SAMUEL LLOYD -Son of Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Brooks, 226 Burton Ave. Born August 13, 1893. Enlisted March 3, 1918. Was sent to Camp Meade and was placed with Bat- tery E, 351st Field Artillery, 92nd Division. He was made Supply Sergeant. Sailed for France June 19, 1918. Returned to the United States February 22, 1919, and was honorably dis- charged April 23, 1919.


BROWN, RAYMOND EL- MER-Son of James Brown, Bulger St. Born February 23. 1895. Was inducted into service October 26, 1917. Sent to Camp Meade and attached to Company A, 317th Engineers, 92nd Divi- sion. He sailed overseas June IO, 1918. Returned to the United States March 5, 1919, and was honorably discharged from service March 21, 1919.


BROWN, FRED R .- Son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brown, 266 Linn Ave. Born March I, 1892. Was inducted into the service December 8, 1917, and sent to Columbus Barracks, Fort Ogle- thorpe, and later to Kelly Field. Private Brown was with the Medical Service, and was honor- ably discharged from the service of the United States in May. 1919.
