Mr. Tait was a production engi- neer for Du-Well and a member of the D.A.V. He graduated from South Haven High School. He moved to Kernville in 1971.

He was preceded in death by his father Malcolm Bruce Tait.

Marguerite Alice Haltestad
A funeral service was held July 1, 1992 at 10:00 a.m. at the Valley Mortuary Chapel in Lake Isabella for Marguerite Alice Haltestad of Weldon. Officiat- ing was Pastor David Snow of the First Baptist Church of Lake Isabella. Interment followed at the Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Marguerite was born Octo- ber 2, 1891 in New York City. New York and died June 28, 1992 at her residence in Weldon. She was 100 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband George O. Haltestad of Minneapolis, Min- nesota. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Harold and Evelyn Haltestad of Wofford Heights; daughters Dorothy and husband Jay Best of Weldon, Peggy Altmeyer and husband Ed of Palmdale; grandchildren Lynnae Jamison and husband Bob of Lake Isa- bella, Robin Cornick and hus- band Bill of Canoga Park, Dean Castle and wife Karen of River- side, Georgia Castle of Colo- rado Springs, Colorado, Susan Thomas of Sioux Falls, So. Arrietta "Rita" Allman
Many will remember Rita Allman. She lived in the valley many years. She worked at the old and new Cozy Corner Ca- fes and Lazy River Lodge. She worked and lived at the Old Mark's Trailer Park.
She passed away suddenly at her home in Bakersfield June 26, 1992. She was born 86 years ago in Ayr, Nebraska on November 16, 1905.
She leaves two sons, a daughter and her favorite daughter-in-law Peggy Allman of Bakersfield, the widow of her son Richard Henry Allman who died last October. Sons are Leonard (and Leona) of Riverkern; Jack (and Patty) of Bakersfield. Her daughter is Joy (and Bud) Smith of Coffeyville, Kansas. Mrs. Allman had nine grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
Arrietta was a loving and kind-hearted mother, a friend to all creatures of nature and a sympathetic listener to anyone who came her way. Many will miss her.
Evelyn Hope Mason
Evelyn Hope Mason passed away on June 20, 1992 at home in Houston, Texas. She had been ill for several months. Services are pending.

Marvin W. Lewis
Marvin William Lewis, 26, of South Lake, died Saturday, July 4, 3 p.m., at his home following a lengthy illness. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, July 11, 1:30 p.m., at the South Shore Fellowship on Highway 178 in Mt. Mesa. Pastor James Lee will officiate.
Marvin was a 1983 graduate of Kern Valley High School and student body president in his senior year. He worked here in the valley for Bruce's Type- writer, for Payless as security and for Sierra South as a kayak instructor.

Clyde J. Casper
A memorial service was held Monday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elks Lodge in Wofford Heights for Clyde Jerome Casper of Wofford Heights. Mr. Casper was born January 24,1907 in Montivedio, Minn. and died at Paramount Surburban Hospital in Para- mount July 16, 1992. He was 85 years old.
Funeral services were held July 20, 1992 at St. Dominic Savio Catholic Church in Bell- flower.
He is survived by his daugh- ter, Mary Biggs, of Bellflower; 4 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.

A funeral service was held August 3, 1992 for Nellie Louise Biederman at the Valley Mor- tuary Chapel in Lake Isabella. Officiating was Pastor Daryl Lackey of Mountain View Baptist Church in Lake Isabella.
Nellie Biederman was born November 13, 1920 in Missouri. She died July 30, 1992 at Mountain Mesa, California. She was 71 years old.

He was laid to rest at the Kern Valley Cemetery.

John M. Williams was born April 28, 1918 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma and died July 27, 1992 in Mt. Mesa. He was 74 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Betty Williams of Weldon; son James Williams of Sacramento, CA; daughter Barbara Torres of Clovis; daughter Susan Clark of Mon- tana; brother Elbert Williams of Oklahoma; sisters Willa Mortensen of Utah and Winnie Maurizio of Van Nuys, CA; and 5 grandchildren.

Mr. Hamilton was born Oc- tober 12, 1910 in Poplar Bluff Missouri and died July 21, 1992 at the Kern Valley Hospital in Mt. Mesa. He was 81 years old. Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Minnie Elizabeth, who died in 1989.

Private services were held for Junia Bell Elam of Fresno, CA. She died on July 17, 1992 at the age of 81. Mrs. Elam was the owner of Vest Pocket Mar- ket in Bakersfield for 22 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ray Elam, who died in 1970.

Lonnie Jackson Curtis
Lonnie Jackson Curtis was born in Keo, Arkansas on Feb. 7, 1920 and died in Bakersfield on June 22, 1992 at age 72. He was an 11 year resident of Bodfish.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Daisy Kelley Curtis, of Bodfish; brother and sister- in-law, Clyde and Frances Curtis of Hesperia, California; sister, Helen Curtis Moore of Fontana, California; aunt, Dovie Brand of Carlisle, Arkansas; brother-in-lawand sister-in-law, Clyde and Virginia Kelley of Kernville, California; Roy and Orleena Kelley of Calimesa, California; Alena Farr of Compton, California; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Curtis served five years during World War II and was a member of Kern River Valley D.A.V. #54 and a life member of Kern River Valley VFW Post #7665.
Interment was at Forest Lawn in Cypress, California on July 27, 1992. Officiating was Rev. Larry Jameson with vo- calist Marsha Curtis Santiago.

Keith Archambeau, known by all his friends as "Archie," passed away July 15, 1992 at his home in Wofford Heights after a brief illness.
Archie was born May 8, 1931 in Maywood, California. He was 61 years old. He leaves his wife Nancy; two sons Keith, Jr. of Simi, California and Bart of Reno, Nevada; three daughters Dorita Valencich of Chino, California, Caryn Thompson of Lake Isabella and Cindy Jacobs of Bakersfield; ten grandchil- dren Jason and Ardele Valencich of Chino, Damon and Monica Archambeau of Simi, Nick, Charlotte, Wade and Jared Thompson of Lake Isa- bella, Ryan Jacobs of Bakers- field and Christina Archambeau of Reno, Nevada.
A 15 year resident, Archie owned the Valley Tire & Muffler in Wofford Heights for 7 years. He was a member of the K.V. Search & Rescue, W.H. Im- provement Group, Elks, Moose and Lion's Club. Archie was a member of the Kernville Meth- odist Church.
He will truly be missed by all.

Leonard Cournoyer, Sr.
Leonard Cournoyer, Sr. died August 5, 1992, at the Kenneth Norris Jr. Cancer Hospital in Los Angeles. He was a resident of Weldon for the past 18 years. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Cournoyer was pre- ceded in death by his wife Mary. He is survived by his son Leonard Jr., his daughter Phyllis, his son-in-law Rick, six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Caraway was born September 28, 1921 in Belton, Texas and died August 2, 1992 in Fresno, CA.
"Jack" was a veteran of WWII, serving from 1942 to 1946. He served as an honor guard for many of his fallen comrades in WWII. He retired from Redondo Beach after 33 years as a heavy equipment operator.

Jerry leaves his wife of 58 years, Marge and son Charles and his wife Sherry of Portland, Oregon; also 3 grandchildren Michael, Gregory and Amy Simpson and 2 great-grandchildren, all of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, leav- ing one sister Genevieve Palmer of Attica, New York.
The memorial mass, celebrated by Monsignor Gilbert Meyer on Saturday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Jude's Church in Wofford Heights. In attendance were the Fourth Degree Knights of Colum- bus, Admiral Callaghan Assem- bly of Bakersfield and Lady of the Lake Council 7927 of Lake Isa- bella.
Jerry was a resident of the val- ley for almost twenty years. He was loved by many and will be missed by his golfing buddies and fellow bowlers.

OBITUARY
Linda L. Kirby
Linda L. Kirby passed away August 24, 1992. She was born September 8, 1932.
She is survived by her husband Newton Kirby of South Lake; her three sons Walter Kirby, David Kirby and Richard Kirby; and 12 grandchildren.
She was a former employee of the DMV in Lake Isabella where she was well known by the people of the Kern River Valley.
There were no services. The cremated remains were taken care of by the family. She will be missed by her co-workers and her family.

Al Keegan
Albert Vincent Keegan, born April 9, 1927 in Long Island, New York, passed quietly away at home with his loving family at his side on September 7, 1992.
Since 1970, Al was known to his many friends as Owner/Op- erator of Roads End Resort. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him for his humorous outlook and responses to patrons, his love of family and home, and his dedication to the countless youths, who have continued to return as adults with their own children and the fondest of memories.
Al is survived by Fran, his wife and partner of 46 years; daughter Patti Stucker of Roads End; daughter Barbi Zimmerman of Wofford Heights; brothers David, Paul and Donovan; sister Lois Draper; and five grandchildren James, Kevin, Sandy, Paul and Nathan. He was preceded in death by an infant son, James; brothers Tom and John; and sister Elocile. Al served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Kern River Valley Elks.
To allow travel time for his many distant friends and relatives, a memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 17, at the Four-Square Church, Wofford Heights. An open house and pot luck will immediately fol- low at his beloved Roads End.
The family requests that do- nations to your favorite charity be made, in lieu of flowers.

Jerald M. Walgren
Mr. Jerald (Jerry) M. Walgren passed away suddenly on August 24, 1992 at his home in Weldon at the age of 81.
At his request no services were held locally. Following cremation the remains were taken to Wa- terloo, lowa for burial.
Mr. Walgren was born in lowa on June 10, 1911. He is survived by 3 daughters and their hus- bands: Mrs. Jan Napier and hus- band, John, of Parkersburg, lowa; Mrs. Jackie Newhoff and husband, Rudy of Waterloo, lowa; and Mrs. Ruth Hill and husband, Marty, also of Waterloo, lowa. He is also survived by 14 grand children.
He was employed by McDonnell Douglas Company in Southern California until his re- tirement. He moved to the Kern Valley in 1974.
