Lydia
Ann Hennersdorf
Lydia Ann Hennersdorf was born Lydia Ann Buettner in Mil- waukce, Wisconsin on Feb. 27, 1901. She passed away Nov. 12 at San Joaquin Care Center in Bakersfield.
Early in her life, she met and married William Hennersdorf and moved to San Diego for a number of years. Her husband preceded her in death in 1966.
After his passing, she moved to Kernville and made her home with her brother George Buettner. Six years later her brother died and she made her home with Willard and Eileen Van Fossen. Relatives include her three cous- ins, Norma Schaffer of Milwau- kec, Esther Phieffer, of Milwau- kee and Ray Buettner also of Milwaukee.
In 1991, Lydia became a member of the Eastern Star Electa Order 75 in Milwaukee. After moving to San Diego, she became a member of the Southern Star Chapter of OES San Diego and also a member of the Mecca Temple, Daughters of the Nile.
She also was a charter member of the OES Kern River Valley No. 643.
Interment at Greenwood Me- morial Park in San Diego. Offi- ciation was Rev. Willard Vanfossen of Lake Isabella.

James Barton of Lake Isabella passed away Nov. 26 at the Kern Valley Hospital in Mt. Mesa. He is survived by his wife of 26 years Lillian of Lake Isabella; sons Tom of Florida. John of Kansas. Bob of Oregon, David of California; daughters Connie Turner of Cali- fornia, Pamela Riley of Oregon: 12 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; his mother Mrs. Margaret Croce of Bakersfield. In addition, he is survived by sisters Mary Darrah of Bakers- field, Eva Lawson of California; brother Jack Barton of Visalia.
James Barton was a WW II veteran of the U. S. Navy who served in the Asiatic-Pacific re- gion.

Ralph Carter

A funeral service was con- ducted graveside at the Kern River Valley Cemetery for Ralph Wayne Carter of Bodfish. Offi- ciating was Rev. James Lec. Pastor of the Valley Community Church in Lake Isabella.
Mr. Carter passed away at home Dec. 3 following illness. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Margaret Carter of Bodfish; sons Donald Carter and wife Lec of Coberg, Oregon, James Carter and wife Pat of Bakersfield; five grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Ralph Carter was a charter member of the Moose KRV Lodge 498 and the Single Side Band Club where was known by his CB handle of "Pop C". Mr. Carter had served or many years as president of the Oak Knoll Mutual Water Co of Bodfish.
A resident of Kern County for the past 48 years, Ralph Carter was retired from oilfield work where he served as manager of Pacific Perforating Co. in Bakersfield.
Born July 21. 191 1 in Mendon, Mercer County. Ohio, Ralph Wayne Carter was 80 years of agc.

Douglas Marcel Wick passed away on Nov. 29 at his home in Brookings, Oregon. He was born April 9, 1920 in Edinburg, North Dakota. He served in the United States Marines from 1939 to 1945. He was married to his wife Shirley on Dec. 4, 1951 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of the Elks for 30 years. He moved to the area from Kernville three years ago.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Wick of Brookings,-Or- cgon; also surviving are his son Douglas Wick of Santa Barbara; two daughters, Carol Bertone of Sunland, CA and Marylin Chasc of Phoenix, Arizona. Also sur- viving arc four sisters: DePhac Crain, Phylis Meldahl, Phylis Meldahl, Arlene Nabseth and Sharon Stone all of Seattle, Washington; four grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 4 in Brookings, Oregon.

Born March 28, 1908 in Texas, Raymond Albert Bell was 83 years of age.

William Kay
William H. Kay of Lakc Isabella passed away Dec. 3 at Pacific Regency Nursing Home in Bakersfield, where his wife Harriet Kay passed away Nov. 21. Both of them are survived by their only son Robert W. Kay and wife Marian of Southlake; grandson, Robert W. Kay Jr. of Tucson. Arizona; granddaughters Shelley Omaleve and husband Steve of Chino Hills and one great granddaughter Stephani Omalev.
William and Harriet retired to Lake Isabella over 20 years ago after William retired from the Los Angeles County Flood control with 35 years of service. He was born in Los Angeles on Dec. 29. 1905 and Harriet was born Dec. 22. 1905. Both would have been 86 years this month.
Their. cremated remains will be scattered at the Kem Valley Cemetery. Cremation is by Val- ley Mortuary.
Leona Buckallew

Samuel Dean Edge
A funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 13 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for Samuel Dcan Edge. the infant son of Erik and Kirsten Edge. Officiating was Ronald Pavey of the Lake Isabella congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Interment was at Kern River Valley Cen)- etery in Wofford Heights.
Samuel was born Nov. 24 in Weldon and died Dec. 8 at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield. He was 15 days old. Heis survived by his parents Erik and Kirsten Edge. brother Joseph and sister Katie Edge all of Weldon. grandparents Vic and Judy Edge of Santa Anna. grandparents Dwight and Eva Winenger of Desert Hot Springs.
We look forward to seeing him again when Jesus Christ resurrects all those in the me- morial tombs to a life everlasting on a cleansed, paradise carth. We are thankful to all those who have helped us during our need.

Douglas M. Wick
Douglas Marcel Wick. 71. died Nov. 29 at his honic in Brookings, Oregon.
He was born April 9. 1920 in Edinburg. ND and raised in North Dakota and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1939 to 1945 in World War II.
He owned his own commer- cial heating in Los Angeles for many years and was married 10 his wife, Shirley Dec. 4, 1951 in Las Vegas. Mr. Wick was a member of the Elks for 30 years. He moved to Brookings five years ago from Kernville.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. His son founded "Friends Fisherman and Fellowship" in honor of the difference he made in their lives 15 years ago. A trophy was given to the man who has been the most inspirationat to the youth in his community each year. The trophy changes hands each year.
Mr. Wick is survived by his wife. Shirley of Brookings: son Douglas N. Wick of Santa Bar- bara: daughters Carol Bertone of Sunland and Marilyn Chase of Phoenix: sisters Dephae Caain. Phyllis Meldahl. Arlene Nabseth and Sharon Stone of Seattle. four grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 4 in Brookings. Oregon. Dec. 4 marked the 40th wedding anni- versary of the Wicks.
Leona Alice Denney-Buckallew
A funeral service was held Tuesday. Dec. 3 at 1 p.m at the Valley Mortuary chapel in Lake Isabella for Leona Alice Buckallew of Bodfish. Official- ing was Reverend Terry Speer of the Crown Valley Community Church of Acton. Interment fol- lowed at the Kern Valley Cen- etery in Wofford Heights.
Mrs. Buckallew was born April 6, 1914 in Hollywood and died Nov. 26 in Van Nuys. She was 77 years old. She is preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by her son Walter and daughter-in-law Carolyn Buckallew of Acton: grandchildren Melinda, Monty and Shanc: sisters Evelyn Petty, Wilma Syler and brother Tom Rankin.
Mrs. Buckallew was active in the local Grandmothers club, the Eastern Star and the Bodfish Homeowners Association. She was a nine year resident of the Kern Valley.

Arthur Dale Smart of Southlake passed away Dec. 16 at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa.
He is preceded in death by his son, Arthur, Jr. deceased in 1985 and survived by his wife Marian J. Smart of Southlake; daughters Donetta, Jean, Kathryn and Sally all of Indianapolis, Indiana,;' daughter Valene Dahm of Lake Isabella, sons Duane of Pearlblossom and Wayne of Pierce City, Missouri; brother Robert Smart of Wagner, Okla- homa; sisters Sarah Buchanan of Hemet, Barbara Ann Whitaker of Peris and grandchildren.
Arthur Smart was a member of the Eagles and Moose and had been a resident of the Kern Val- Icy for the past eight years.

John Edward Wallace of Kelso Valley passed away at home Dec. 18 following illness. A memorial service was con- ducted at the KRV Elks Lodge Wofford Heights on Wednesday Dec. 18 for William H. "Bill" Moore of Wofford Heights. Of- ficiating were officers of KRV Ellks Lodge No. 2358 BPOE. Mr. Moore passed away at home Dec. 14.

Robert T. Merriam
Robert Trieb Merriam passed away Dec. 22 at Kern Valley Hospital. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona on April 23, 1908 and was 83 years of age. He was a resident of Squirrel Valley and had lived in the Kern River Val- ley for the past 23 years.
A memorial mass was held Friday, Dec. 27 at 9 a.m. at the St. Jude's Catholic Church in Wofford Heights. Monsignor Anthony Herdegen officiated.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years. Rose of Squirrel Valley; a daughter Audrey Hamilton of Alexandria, Virginia; threc grandchildren, Nadja Morales of El Paso, Texas, Alondra Hamilton of Berkley. California and Ed- ward Hamilton of Sunnyvale, California. and one great grand- daughter.
Bob Merriam was a prisoner of war at Santa Thomas in the Phillipines for 3 and one-half years during World War II. Upon release he was sent by John Hopkins University to the Naval Ordinance Test Station at China Lake, where he remained until retirement in 1968 as an electronic engineer.
Bob Merriam was involved in the formulation of the Kern Val- ley Historical Society Museum, served as curator for 15 years and was later named Curator Emeri- tus. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, South Fork Property Owners Association, Kern River Valley Historical Society and several other local organizations. He was a member of St. Jude's Catholic church.

Herbert L.Kent
A memorial service was held at the First Presbyterian Church for Herbert Kent, O.D.
Dr. Kent graduated from U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry in 1932 began his practice in Sebastopol and had practiced in Fresno since 1935. Dr. Kent was a life member of the American Optometric Association and California Optometric Associa- tion, past president of the Central California Optometric Society and first president of the Flying Optometrists of America.
He was past director and president of the American Optometric Foundation and a founding member of the Optom- etrists Professional Associates and Investment Club. He was a member of the Quiet Birdsmien and Silver Wings, life member of the Elks Club, a member of the California Historical Society, volunteer worker and contributor to the Cornerstone Church. He was also a member of the Fresno County Sheriff's Air Squadron and past General Chairman of the Interprofessional Forum on Reading.
Surviving are his daughter Patricia Smayda; son in law Robert Smayda and two grand- sons Anthony and Alex Smayda all of Walnut Creek and a brother. Paul Kent, O.D., and sister-in- law Marie Kent, both of Santa Rosa.
Dr. Herbert Lucas Kent was born March 26, 1910.

Mrs. Stover was born Dec. 13, 1928 in Hannibal, Missouri and dicd Dec. 24 in Mt. Mesa. She was 63 years old. She is survived by her husband of 46 years Delmon Stover of Lake Isabella; daughters Dorothy Werno of Lake Isabella, Darla Sink of Costa Mesa; sons Delmon Stover Jr. of Hawaii, Donald Stover of Sheldon, Connecticut; 14 grand- children and 7 great grandchil- dren. Lillian Kinseth
Lillian G. Kinseth of Lake Isabella died Dec .: 15 at Kern Valley Hospital at the age of 58. Mrs. Kinseth was born Jan. 3, 1933 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She was a housewife and lived in Wofford Heights for three years.
She is survived by her son Raymond Kinseth of Wofford Heights; sons Ronald Zurck, of Wofford Heights, Steven Zurck, of Chippewa Falls, WI, stepsons, David Looscmore, Danny Loosemore of Michigan; daugh- ters Carla Myer of Wofford Heights. Edna was born Oct. 8, 1903 in Dunning, Nebraska and died Dec. 6 in Ridgecrest. She was 88 years old. She was prc- ceded in death by her husband Eugene Hanna in 1971 and her son Kenneth Dale Hanna Dec. 7, 1991.
She is survived by her sons Leonard Eugene Hanna of Kan- sas, Richard Hanna of North Dakota, Ralph Hanna of Califor- nia, Herbert Hanna of California; daughters Donna Smith of Tenn, Phyllis Stuckey of Ridgecrest and 35 grandchildren. Edna was a 21 year resident of the Kern River Valley.

Elliott N. Lathrop
Elliott Norton Lathrop, re- cently of Bakersfield. passed away Saturday, Dec. 28. He was 85 years old.
He is surivived by his daugh- ters, Virginia Gafken of Denton, Texas; Barbara Trexle of Littleton. Colorado; Susan Kirn of Palo Alto, and Marjorie Clack of Kernville and by five grand- children.
Born Oct. 25. 1906. in East Orange, New Jersey. Elliott was the son of John Kasson Lathrop and Abbie Elliott (Smiley). He attended Mohonk School for Boys in New York and Amherst Col- lege. in Massachusetts.
For 35 years. he was employed at Sterling Drugs. in New York City as a cashier in payrolls. During WW 11. he served his country as a staff sergeant with the 893rd Signal Corps Aviation Depot. stationed in Calcutta. In- dia.
He was a member of the Elks. Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and the Flabush Tompkins Congre- gational church, Brooklyn, New York.
A memorial service was held Dec. 29 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary in Bakers- field. Tom Mckinney officiated.
Roland Prielipp
Services were held at graveside on Saturday. Jan. 4 at Kern Val- ley District Cemetery for long time prominent Kern Valley resident Roland (Bud) Prielipp who passed away suddenly at the age of 62. Pastor Jerry Ruff of Wofford Heights officiated.
Mr. Prielipp was past owner of the North Fork trailer Park in Kernville. He owned and operated Bud's Mobilehome Repair and resided in Onyx. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 498 of Lake Isabella.
Bud leaves his wife. Nat: son Cap and his wife Stephanie and their children Chase and Colbie: a daughter Shirley Strong and husband Tom and children Tommy II and Sue; a brother Ken and his wife Lois and sister Letha and husband Phil Drier of Tustin and many other family members and loved ones.
He will be missed in the valley for his professional work and services he performed with pride to each client who came his way.

A memorial service was con- ducted Monday. Jan. 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, for Mary Burdick of Lake Isabella. Officiating was Carmen Pinkston. Mrs. Burdick passed away Dec. 31 at home following illness.

Born Nov. 19, 1930 in Hawaii. Mary Elna Burdick was 61 years of age. Interment at the Kern River Valley Cemetery. Arrangements: Valley Mortuary.

Ethel R. Kerr
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist church of Lake Isabella at 3781 Suhre Street in Lake Isabella on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. for Ethel R. Kerr, Dr. David Snow and her grandson, Rev. R.L. Perrin of Leona Valley will officiate. Ethel was the oldest charter member of this church.
Ethel R. Kerr was born on Jan. 1. 1896 in Los Angeles and died on Dec. 29. 1991 in the Kern Valley Hospital. She would have been 96 years on Jan. 1. She had lived in the Kern Valley since 1964. She and her late husband Walter Kerr. had lived here pre- viously and returned to make it their home. She was a member of the Good Sams and also leaves many friends as she lived here her last 27 years.
Her survivors include her son Walter Perrin of Granada Hills. her grandsons Rev. R.L. Perrin of Leona Valley and Dr. Robert G. Perrin of Knoxville, Tennessee; her great granddaughter Tammi Perrin and great grandsons Bear, Christopher Lee, John Robert and Michael George Perrin.

Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 31 in Ridgecrest for Susic Annabelle Jarrett. 76 years of Lake Isabella who died Dec. 27 at the Beverly Manor Convalescent Hospital in Ridgecrest.
Mrs. Jarrett was born Sept. 2. 1915 in Dundee, Texas. She was a homemaker and lived in Lake Isabella from 1965 to 1990.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law. Jerry and Cathy Seglar, of Ridgecrest; son Selba Seglar of Lake Isabella: sister Valerie Scruggs of Burbernett. Texas and Mary Seglar of Electra. Texas; granddaughter and hus- band Tammy and Mike Thonis of Ridgecrest; granddaughter and husband Deborah and David Harper of Ridgecrest and great grandson Michael Wayne Harper of Ridgecrest.
Mrs. Jarrett was buried at Kern Valley Cemetery.

A memorial service was con- ducted Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel for Virginia Walter of Wofford Heights. Prayers and eulogy were delivered by family and friends. Mrs. Walter passed away Jan. 4 at the San Joaquin -Community Hospital, Bakersfield.
