Harold Russell Glazebrook


Cremation services were held for Harold Russell Glazebrook of Southlake. Mr. Glazebrook was born February 24, 1923 in Grandriver, lowa and died November 4, 1992 in Mt. Mesa. He was 69 years old.


He is survived by his wife Lorraine Glazebrook of South- lake; mother Vera Glazebrook of lowa; son Mike G. Glazebrook of Sacramento, CA; son Howard Glazebrook of Chino, CA; daughter Terri Lynn Glazebrook of Chino, CA; sis- ter Cecil Adams of lowa; and two grandchildren.

Eula Mae Armet


Eula Mae Armet was born into this world, February 29, 1912, in the state of Texas. After being raised in Texas, at the age of 23, she married her husband of 57 years, Harold.


Harold and Eula Mae moved to the bay area in 1940 and after spending most of their lives there, where Harold worked as a saddle maker, and Eula Mae spent her time and energies as a home maker. They moved to the L.A. Basin, then up here to the Kern River Valley in 1981. They have been residents of our valley for the last 12 years.


Eula Mae was involved in community services through- out her life. She was honored with a lifetime membership for her involvement in P.T.A. and was very active in the T.O.P.S. organization as well, serving as President of the Wofford Heights Group for a number of years. Most important of all, though, was Eula Mae's com- mitment to the Lord Jesus


Harriett Riggs Lee


Private arrangements were made for Harriett Riggs Lee, 73, of Kernville. She was born August 19, 1919 in Kensington, Maryland. She died November 11, 1992 in Mt. Mesa.


She is survived by her hus- band of. 47 years Darrel of Kernville; sons Darrel of Torrence and Tim and Robert of Pomona; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.


In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Soci- ety would be appreciated.

Christ. She was a faithful mem- ber throughout her life in his church, and at the time of her death was a faithful and active member of the Mt. View Southern Baptist Church in Lake Isabella. She was taken from this life to be at home with the Lord, Friday, November 6, 1992 in Bakersfield.


She is survived by her hus- band Harold; a son Harold, Jr .; and his wife Gloria of Havalia; one daughter Barbara Haffar and her husband Majdi of Hun- tington Park, two grandchildren Wesley and Loura; and many nieces and nephews.


Pall bearers were Wesley Armet, Majdi Haffar, Walter Morton, Walter Rawls, Harvey Whitten and Paul Baily. Ser- vices were held Tuesday, No- vember 10 at the Mt. View Church with Pastor Deryl Lackey officiating. Interment followed at the Kern Valley Cemetery.

Stewart Loree Vaughan


Stewart Loree Vaughan, 69, a California native son born in Van Nuys, died November 7, 1992 at his home in Watsonville, California after a long valiant fight with diabetes and cancer.


He served his country as an Army First Sergeant in the 778th Batallion in Europe from 1943 to 1946. He was a fireman for the Los Angeles City Fire De- partment for 20 years as well as a master mechanic and a member of Operating Engi- neers Local 12. Stew was a member of the Van Nuys Ma- sonic Lodge #450.


Upon retirement, he and his wife of 50 years, Ruth, moved to Kernville where they became actively involved in the Kern River Valley.


In addition to Ruth, he leaves a daughter Carla Vaughan of Capitola, California; a daugh- ter Sandra Carpenter, of Grants Pass, Oregon; a brother Wayne Vaughan of Santa Barbara and two grandchildren.


Private services and intern- ment were held at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, California.


The family prefers remem- brances to Hospice Caring Project of Santa Cruz, 6851 Soquel Drive, Aptos, California 95003.

OBITUARY


Frances (Mac) N. McDonald


Frances (Mac) N. McDonald, died November 12, 1992 at home in Lake Isabella. He was born August 9, 1910 in Marion, Indiana to Marry Orr and James McDonald. He moved to Lake Isabella in 1975 upon retire- ment from Glass Containers Corp. in Vernon, Ca. He served his apprenticeship in glass making in Marion, Ind. contin- ued in that field as a mold maker until he retired.


Mac was active in the Knights of Columbus and the St. Vincent DePaul Society for many years. He was a member of the Moose, 55-plus club and a charter member of the Eagles.


He is survived by his wife Mary (Constant) McDonald of Lake Isabella and one brother Harry McDonald of Long Beach, Ca.


Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Charles and Bill and sisters Mary Fitfimmons and Sarah McDonald.


The family wish to express their thanks to all our friends and family for their support dur- ing Mac's illness and after his passing.


Services were held Satur- day, November 14, 1992 at St. Jude's Catholic Church. Inter- ment Kern River Valley Cem- etery.

Boyd K. Montague, age 65, of Kernville passed away on November 8, 1992 at home. He was born on September 22, 1927 in Long Beach, Califor- nia. He was retired from Pizza Hut. He was a member of Kern County Central Valley Amateur Radio Club #KC6VYW. Also belonged to the Southern Si- erra Flyrodders Club.


Mr. Montague is survived by his wife, Barbara of Kernville; son Stephen of Garden Grove; daughter Robin McWhorter of Fountain Valley; and 2 grand- daughters.

Ritta Owanda Slagle


Ritta Owanda Slagle, aged 76, of Lake Isabella, passed away on November 5 in Lake Isabella. She was a long time resident and a retired waitress.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 1985. She was born in Missouri on October 8, 1916.


Mrs. Slagle is survived by her sisters Lola A. Bales and Doris Hobbs of St. Joseph, MO; brothers Norman Phillips of St. Joseph, MO and Walter Paul Phillips of Grants Pass, OR.


Services were held Monday, November 9 at Valley Mortuary Chapel, Pastor Deryl Lackey was officiating. Interment was at Kern River Valley Cemetery.

A Mass for Christian burial was held Friday, November 6, 1992 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Jude Catholic Church in Wof- ford Heights for Bernard Francis Grabner of Wofford Heights. Officiating were his two broth- ers Father Donald Grabner O.S.B. and Father Eugene Grabner, and Rev. Monsignor A.G. Herdegen of St. Jude. In- terment followed at the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wof- ford Heights.


Mr. Grabner was born Oc- tober 10, 1922 in Queens, New York and died October 31, 1992 at his residence in Wofford Heights. He was 70 years old. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an Elk.


He is survived by his wife of 47 years Frances Grabner of Wofford Heights; son Tom Grabner of Wofford Heights; son Jim Grabner of Encinitas, California; brother Father Donald Grabner O.S.B. of Missouri; and brother Father Eugene Grabner of Kansas.

John Jerome Kammeyer


A funeral service was held Friday, November 27, 1992 at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Bakersfield at 1660 S. St., Bakersfield for John Jerome Kammeyer of Bakers- field. Officiating was Rev. Robert Rohe.


John was born November 27, 1941 in Loma Linda, Cali- fornia, and died November 21, 1992 in Bakersfield. He was 50 years old.


He is survived by his sons John J. Kammeyer Il of Sunnyvale, California; son Scott Kammeyer of Bakersfield; brother Marty Hayes of Corona, California; mother and father- in-law Thelma and Frank Wil- son of Wofford Heights; sister- in-law and brother-in-law Diana and Don King of Bodfish.


John was a 17 year resident of Kern county and a former resident of the Kern River Val- ley where he worked as a bar- ber until moving to Bakersfield. In Bakersfield, he operated his own business Stockdale Styl- ing and Barbering Co. in southwest Bakersfield. John also had a great love for dogs, so much so that he was care- taker for the S.P.C.A. on Gibson St. in Bakersfield.

Alana was born June 27, 1943 in Hermosa Beach, Cali- fornia and died November 21, 1992 in Bakersfield. She was 49 years old.


She is survived by her son John J. Kammeyer Il of Sunnyvale, California; son Scott Kammeyer of Bakersfield; mother and step-father Thelma and Frank Wilson of Wofford Heights; sister and brother-in- law Diana and Don King of Bodfish.


Alana was a 17 year resi- dent of Kern county, and a former resident of the Kern River Valley before moving to Bakersfield. She was employed by the county of Kern in the tax assessor's office at the time of her death.

Rebecca Lyn Russell


A private visitation was held on Saturday, November 28, 1992 at the Valley Mortuary in Lake Isabella for Rebecca Lyn Russell of Lake Isabella.


Rebecca was born October 27, 1971 in Hopkinsville, Ken- tucky, and died November 26, 1992 in Mt. Mesa. She was 21 years old.


Rebecca was a 12 year resident of the Kern River Val- ley. "Becca" as she was known, was a student at Blair School in Bakersfield.


She is survived by her mother Robbie Russell of Lake Isabella; her sister Kathryn Mathis of Coeur D' Alene, Idaho; sister Esther Robbilois Antis of Vacaville, California; nephew Jason Alan Antis of Vacaville.

June Anker Hiatt


Funeral services were held for on November 20 for June Anker Hiatt who was born on June 5, 1928 in Lincoln, Ne- braska to Richard and Matilda Anker.


She had worked in book- keeping for several companies in the Los Angeles area before moving to the Kern Valley about 15 years ago. She continued her bookkeeping work for small businesses here in the valley and also worked for Sprouse and as the manager of Craftmasters. She enjoyed reading and collecting stamps.


June is survived by her brother, Richard Anker of Los Angeles, and her many friends.


Services by Valley Mortuary with Pastor Floyd Castillo of Highland Chapel UMC officiat- ing.


Jim L. Phillips


Jim L. Phillips passed away on November 17, 1992 in Bakersfield. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruby Phillips. Three children, Jimmy Ann Simpson, Richard Phillips and Linda Phillips, all from Lake Isabella. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.


Mr. Phillips served in the CB's in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked for the Caterpillar Dealer in San Diego County for forty years, serving in many positions.


Memorial services will be held on December 5 at 3 p.m. at the Mountain View Southern Baptist Church.

Mary E. Todd


Mary E. Todd passed away November 27, 1992. She was born December 14, 1896 in Sherman, Texas, to L.W. and Mary E. Boss.


She is preceded in death by her husband Jess E. Todd, Sr.


Mrs. Todd is survived by her seven children: Gertrude Emory of Las Vegas, Nevada; Boyd B. Moss, Sr. of Mesquite, Nevada; Edward Moss of Savoy, Texas; Edith Nelson of Sprague River, Oregon; Jess Todd, Jr. of Chatsworth, California; Gene Todd of Weldon, California; Harold Todd of Moorpark, Cali- fornia; and one very special daughter, Tawana Todd Barnett. She also had five stepchildren: Jackie Anderson of Denison, Texas; Marie Dunlap of Jacksboro, Texas; Joe Todd of Allyn, Washington; Rena Armsworthy of Borger, Texas; Bevins Todd of Bells, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 9 great- great grandchildren.


Mrs. Todd had resided in Kern county for five years. She was laid to rest at Eternal Valley, Newhall, California.


Frank Clifford Crafton


Private services were held for Frank Clifford Crafton of Wofford Heights. Mr. Crafton was born July 20, 1912 in Texas and died November 27, 1992 in Bakersfield. He was 80 years old.


He is survived by his wife Emma Crafton of 59 years of Wofford Heights; son Fred Crafton of El Segundo, Califor- nia; daughter Kathryn Johnson of Columbus, Nebraska; sisters Alice Cancella of Ohio and Monnee Payne of Texas; 6 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren.


Mr. Crafton was an 8 year resident of the Kern River Val- ley.

Russell Bradrick Farrar


Memorial services were held for Russell Bradrick (Brad) Farrar at the Weldon United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 1992. Pastors John Carpenter and Floyd Castillo officiated. Ma- sonic services by Kern River Valley Lodge #827.


Brad was born on September 24, 1916, in Los Angeles, Cali- fornia, and died November 26, 1992 in Lancaster, California. He worked at Lockheed Aircraft from 1939 until his retirement in 1979 except for the time he served as a U.S. Marine from 1942 to 1946. He moved to the Kern River Valley in 1979.


He is survived by Anna Lorena, his wife of more than 45 years; a son Russell and his wife Andrea, and daughters Christina and her husband Florenio Fontilara and Sally and her husband Alberto Najera. His grandchildren are Paul and Jamie Najera, Lisa and her husband Matthew Beucherie, Stephanie Fontilara, and Kacie and Connor Farrar; great- grandchildren Makayla and Matthew Beucherie.


Brad was a member of Weldon United Methodist Church, Kern River Valley Ma- sonic Lodge #827, Royal Arch Masons Chapter # 162, Bakersfield Council #28, Knights Templar #39 and O.E.S. #643.

Catherine L. Martin


Private family memorial ser- vices will be held at a later date for Wofford Heights resident Catherine L. Martin.


She passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on Saturday night. She was born June 30, 1907 in East Hollywood, Cali- fornia and has been a resident of Wofford Heights for the past 16 years. She is retired from the Northrop Aviation Company.


Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughter Dodie Posey of Wof- ford Heights; son Robert Bond of Fallon, Nevada; son-in-law Chet Dowell of Wofford Heights; grandson Michael Dowell of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Paul and Cheryl Bond and Terry Sullivan, all of Fallon, Nevada; and 1 great-grandson.


She is preceded in death by her husband George in 1974 and by one daughter Phyllis Bond in 1989.

Interment followed with full military honors by a Marine Honor Guard, and V.F.W. Post 7665 of the Kern River Valley at the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights, CA.


Mr. Flynn was born Septem- ber 6, 1925 in Concord Massa- chusetts and died December 6, 1992 in Bakersfield, CA. He was 67 years old. He is sur- vived by his wife of 43 years Virginia Flynn of Kemville, CA, son and daughter in law Den- nis J. and Sheri Flynn of Ana- heim, daughter and son in law Kathleen and Tony Haworth of Bakersfield, CA, daughter and son in law Denise and Ben Maytubby of Bakersfield, CA, brother Martin C. Flynn of Mas- sachusetts, sister Marion Bilodeau of Massachusetts, and sister in law Dorothy St.Pierre of Lake Isabelta.


Mr. Flynn was Commander of the Kern River Valley V.F.W. Post 7665 and a 30 year resi- dent of Kern County.

She is sur- vived by her husband of 30 years Luther Sanger of Weldon, daughter Roberta Searl of Tujunga, CA, 3 grand children Michael Martin of Tujunga, Michelle Wieczorek of Canyon Country, and David Martin of Azusa, and one great grand child. Yvonne Helen Edwards passed away on December 4 in Riverside. Mrs. Edwards, 68, was born in Belfast N. Ireland . She resided in Wofford Heights for 11 years. Previously she had lived in Cypress, California.


A funeral was held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 8 at the Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Chapel in Olivewood.


Mrs Edwards is survived by her husband Arthur, of River- side; two daughters, Helen E. Edwards, also of Riverside and Elaine C. Jensen, of Claremont; a granddaughter, Brittany H. Jensen, and two sisters, Georgina Hooker of Canyon Lake, Lorna Froelich, of Lake Elsinore, and a brother, Wil- liam McIntosh, of Canyon Lake.

Ralph Arthur Hollands


Memorial graveside services were held Tuesday, December 15, 1992 for Ralph Arthur Hollands, 83, of Medford, Or- egon, formerly of Lake Isabella, California. He died Sunday, December 13, 1992. Inurnment was in Memory Gardens Me- morial Park, Medford, Oregon.


Ralph was born February 5, 1909 in Lancaster, Kansas to Arthur and Margaret Carson Hollands. He married Melissa C. Walker on November 24, 1929 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was a sheet metal millwright for Pillsbury Mills in Atchison, Kansas for 25 years. Ralph also worked 23 years for General Mills and Quaker Oats com- panies in Southern California.


He is survived by his wife, Melissa C. Hollands of Medford, Oregon; son John Hollands of Siletz, Oregon; daughter Lois Amaya of Medford, Oregon; sister Jessie Anderson of Atchison, Kansas; sister Nellie Wood of Atchison, Kansas; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great- grandchildren. He was pre- ceded in death by a daughter, Judith Haworth, in May 1992; one granddaughter, three brothers, six sisters and his parents.

William Edward Banta


A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights for William Edward Banta of Kernville. Of- ficiating will be the Officers of the Elks Kern River Valley Lodge #2358. Mr. Banta was born May 7, 1907 in Delia, Kansas and died December 18. 1992 in Mt. Mesa. He was 85 years old.


He was the founder and 35 year operator of the Westerner clothing store in Kernville from which he has been retired for the past 20 years. He was a member of Elks Kern River Valley Lodge #2358 and Kern River Valley Moose Lodge #498.


Mr. Banta is survived by his wife of 58 years Ruth Banta of Kernville; daughter Patricia Vehlewald of Kernville; brother Earl Banta of Oceanside, Cali- fornia; brother Patrick Banta of Orange, California; sister Vivian Schultz of Alaska; and two grandchildren. Mr. Banta was a 35 year resident of the Kern River Valley.

She was a member of the South Fork Womans Club of Weldon, the Organ Club of Weldon and the Kern River Valley Grandmother's Club of Lake Isabella.


Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. January 9, 1993 at the South Fork Womans Club in Weldon, California. Interment will be private.


A memorial fund has been established in her name at the Nature Conservancy, Kern River Preserve, P.O. Box 1662, Weldon, CA 93283.

OBITUARY


Chester Ottis Belew


A graveside service was held Thursday, December 17, 1992 at 10:00 a.m. at the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights for Chester Ottis Belew. Officiating were the Officers of the Kern River Valley V.F.W. Post #7665.


Mr. Belew was born in Stewart, Texas on September 1, 1918 and died December 12, 1992 at his residence in Wofford Heights. He was 74 years old.


He was a retired fork lift driver for the Blue Chip Stamp Co. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #7665 Kern River Valley and a 14 year resident of Wof- ford Heights.


Mr. Belew is survived by his wife of 44 years Beulah Belew of Wofford Heights; brother Garland Belew of Texas; 3 nephews, 1 niece, 3 great nephews and 2 great nieces.

Frances Wolf


Frances Wolf, better known as Bud Wolf, a long time resi- dent of Riverkern, passed away Saturday, December 5, 1992. He was born May 12, 1904 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.


He is survived by a brother Gerald Wolf of La Cresenta, California; sister Clara Perry of Glendale, California; daughter Mary Frances Mora of Cameron Park, California; daughter Georgett Middleton of Bonita, California; daughter Audrey Storms of Simi, California; 11 grandchildren; 30 great- grandchildren; and 5 great- great grandchildren.


The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the United States Navy Me- morial Foundation, 701 Penn- sylvania Ave N.W., Washington D.C. 20004.


Edmund Earl Swearingen


Private cremation services were held for Edmund Earl Swearingen of Bodfish. Ed was born April 24, 1916 in West Virginia and died December 6, 1992 in Mt. Mesa. He was 76 years old.


He is survived by his wife of 23 years June of Bodfish.


Mr. Swearingen was a member of the Eagles Santa Monica Aerie #2397 and Past President and a member of the American Legion. He was a 13 year resident of Bodfish.
