A funeral service was coli- ducted March 23 at the Valley Mortuary for Georgie Williams of Weldon. Officiating was Dr. Jerry Corbaley, pastor of the Mountain View Southern Baptist Church of Lake Isabella. Mrs. Williams passed away March 19 at the California Care Center, Bakersfield.
She is survived by her husband Loy Samuel Williams of Weldon, children and grandchildren.
Born Aug. 16, 1907 in Auburn, Arkansas, Georgie Ama Williams was 81.

CHESLAY "CHET" JULIAN
A memorial service was held for Cheslay "Chet" Julian who passed away March 8 in a Bakersfield hospital. The service was held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles lodge in Mt. Mesa on March 13, conducted by president Dick Agnew. Julian was born in Kansas on June 23, 1912 and was 76. He had worked most of his life on heavy equipment with the highway department and was employed with CalTrans for many years in the Tehachapi area transferring to the Kern Valley South Fork District in 1969. He retired from CalTrans in 1974 and resided in Onyx. He enjoyed his retirement years with his favorite past time of camp- ing and fishing. he was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and past trustee of that order and a charter member of the Eagles on Wheels camping club. He is survived by one son Ernie Julian; two daughters, Joy Bannister and Jerry Rooney, 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Jack Meyers and companion Verda Jenkins and her daughter Toni Snyder and Tammy Palmer and families.

Nellie Johnson Williams
Nellie Johnson Williams of Bodfish died March 22 at Kern Valley Hospital at the age of 80.
She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on Feb. 19, 1909.
She came to California in 1927 and worked as a "Harvey Girl" at Mojave train station. In 1928, she married Martin Leandres and they moved to Los Angeles. They were married 36 years and had four children. After the death of Landres, she married Tap Johnson and moved to Bodfish in 1962. Tap was a mining man and the two experienced many mining
adventures.
Nellie sold real estate and painted, through these activities, she made many friends. In 1976, Tap died and five years later, Nellie married Paul Williams.
Nellie Williams is survived by her husband Paul; four chidlren, Marie Devereaux of Quartzhill, Margaret Gordon of Lancaster, Richard Lean- dres of Saratoga, and Carl Leandres of Carson, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren

Gene C. Johnson
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday, April 1 at the St. Jude Parish Catholic Chruch for Gene Johnson of Lake Isabella. Celebrant of the mass was Monsignor Anthony G. Herdegen, Pastor of St. Jude parish. Mr. Johnson passed away at home March 28.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife Mary Theresa of Lake Isabella; daughters Cathy Horneman of Hawaii, Nancy Webster of Canyon Country, Patty Johnson of Tarzana, Carolyn Zeman of Fairfield, Iowa; sons Carl Johnson of Mt. Mesa, Roy Johnson of Sunnyvale, Steven Johnson of Canoga Park and 10 grandchildren.
Gene Johnson was a WW II vet of the U.S. Navy who taught aircraft maintenance. In civilian life, he pur- sued a career in the aero-sapce in- dustry working for Photo-Sonics Corp. as a photo instrumentation engineer. His career carried him throughout the world. As a reult he became a well known figure in the in- ternational business world.
Born Aug. 6, 1921 in Kansas, Gene Charles Johnson was 67.

Alice Marie Anderson
Services were held at the Hillside Church Chapel for Alice Marie Ander- son, of Bodfish, who passed away Feb. 2 in Santa Ana. Rev. John Alred officiated. Interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier.
She is survived by her husband, Albin Anderson of Bodfish; daughters Rosella Moore of Bodfish, Roberta DiPalma of Downey: six grand- children, Vince Dil'alma, Andrew DIPalma, Joyía Emard, Michelle and Michael Moore of Bodfish, Angela Kurtz; one great grandson; sisters Clara Maude Breyer, Grandview, MO, Emma Meredith, Grandview, MO, Wiletta Brown, Florida, Dorothy Turner, Smithville, MO, Louise Schaf- fer, Kansas City, MO; brothers, William Harris, and Louis Harris, of Kansas City, MO.
Mrs. Anderson had been a resident of the Kern Valley for 13 years. She was a retired practical nurse at Ran- cho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey.
Alice Marie Anderson was born May 9, 1918 and a native of Missouri. She was 70 years old.
Gordon A. Green
Gordon A. Green, 75, died at his home in Downey on March 20. He had a summer home in Lake Isabella for 25 years, which he visited often. He was known and loved by many in the Kern Valley.
Gordon was born in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada on Nov. 24, 1913. His family brought Grodon to the United States when he was a child. He had been with Texaco Refinery for 33 years and retired as a machinist foreman in 1978.
Gordon has also been a member of Downcy Moose Lodge.
Gordon Green is survived by his wife of 49 years, Myra Green; two grandsons, Art and Todd Green; two nieces and their families, Kathy and Dell McCollough of Lake Isabella and Mary Lou and Jeff Runyan of Nor- walk; and a brother Ernie Green. He was preceded In death by a son, Art Green who died in 1987.
Services were held at Westminster Memorial Park Chapel in Westminster on March 24 with the Rev. Paul Estebo officiating.

Marshall Bannister of Lake Isabella passed away March 29 at the San Joa- quin Community Hospital in Bakersfield.
He is survived by his wife Vera of Lake Isabella; sons Donald Bannister of California, Jon Bannister of California; daughter Waldyne Ban- nister of California; sister Bettie Easter; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Marshal Bannister was a member of the Moose, Elks and Eagles. He had been a resident of the Kern Valley for 10 years.

Mesa. Mrs. Day passed away March 26, the vic- tim of a tragic residential fire that claimed the life of her husband, George.

Jerry Craig
A funeral service was con- ducted Thursday, April 6 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel for Gar- rett Andrew "Jerry" Craig of Ar- vin, formerly of Reeder Tract in Lake Isabella. Officiating were officers of KRV Chapter 54 of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Craig passed away April 1 at Mercy Hospital.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Millie, deceased Feb. 16, 1988 and survived by his daughter Sherry Ann Dickson, of Arvin; daughter Sheridan De Leon of Brea; son Gary Robert Craig of La Verne; brother Brad Craig of Quincy , Washington; sister D.F. Harty of Yuma, AZ; nine grand- children and four great- grandchidren.
Jerry Craig was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and a pilot officer with the 8th Air Force in England. On April 18, 1944, Ist Lt. Garrett Craig In command of B-17 bomber 42-31407 callsign "Vic- tor" was shot down by enemy fighters during a raid over Berlin. Jerry parachuted to safe- ty with his entire crew.Jerry spent more than a year as a POW mostly at Stalag Luft 3. He was Liberated by elements of the 14th armored Division on Aprü 29, 1945. Following his military ser- vice, Jerry worked for North American-Rockwell Corp for 30 years. Finishing his career with them as an engineer-operator of the "Snap-8" nuclear reactors.
Jerry Craig was a Master Mason and member of the Woodland Hills Canoga Park Masonic Lodge. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and of the Ex-American prisoners of war.
Born July 19, 1918 in Richmond, California, and raised in Ceres, California,Garrett Andrew "Jerry" Craig was 72.

Hesley Martin
Hesley A. Martin of Southlake, passed away April 1 at Kern Valley Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, George of Southlake; a daughter Dolores Zarzana of Bakersfield; brother Vester Atkins of Pacoima; four grand- daughters; two grandsons and three great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by a son, Aurthur.
Services and Interment were held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bakersfield on April 7 with the Reverand Charlie Smith of Weldon Methodist Church officiating.
Hesley was born Sept. 5, 1807 at Ruston, Louisiana. She was 81.
There will be a memorial ser- vice at the Weldon Methodist Church on April 12 at noon.

GEORGE BLAKE
A funeral service was conducted Wednesday, April 26 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel Lake Isabella for George Blake of Mt. Mesa. Officiating was Melvin Hetrick, Jehovah's Witness. Mr. Blake passed away April 21 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Angeles.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Betty of Mt. Mesa; sons Brad of Mt. Mesa daughters Lori Hayes of Mt. Mesa, Hollie Bennett of Weldon, Amber Lucas of bakersfield and five grandchildren.
During the Korean War, Mr. Blake served with the U.S. Air Force in the Far East. Following his military ser- vice he served with the city of Orange as a Police officer, retiring after 20 years with the rank of sergeant. George moved to the Kern Valley 13 years ago.
George Blake was a Master Mason and a member of the .. KRV Masonic Lodge No. 827.

Andy was born in New Pine Creek, Oregon on July 21, 1900. He left home at the age of 13 to Ulve the life of a cowboy. Over the years, he worked for many of the big ranches in the Western United State including the ZX Ranch in Oregon and the Onyx Range in Kern County.
In 1941, he went to work for Leroy Rankin at the Rankin Ranch in Walker Basin. He stayed at this ranch until he retired in 1963, working both for the Rankin family and for Ken- neth Melbane who leased the ranch for a short period of time.
Andy was one of the last of the old time cowboys in the area. Over the years, he helped and taught many of the kids growing up on ranches In the Walker Basin country.
He is preceded In death by his wife of 43 years, Rita Charlton.
Survivors include his son, "Biff" Charlton of Bakersfield; daughter and son in law, Ann and Detlev Lange of Lake Isabella and grandsons Phillip Charlton and John Lange.
Graveside services were held at Rankin Cemetery in Waker Basin on Saturday, May 13. Pall bearers were John Lange, Phillip Charlton, Bill Douglas, Richard Stoots, John BVeard and Arnold Petit.

James Mac Ewing
James H. Mac Ewing passed away in Lake Isabella on April 30. He is survived by his son James of Ontario.
Mac Ewing, Sr .. was a Veteran of WW I. He had resided in the Kern Valley for the past 13 years.
Born Sept. 6, 1904 in Connec- ticut, James Harold Mac Ewing was 84.

Mable B. McDermott
Mable McDermott passed away Saturday, May 13 at Kern Valley Hospital.
Born July 12, 1907 in Paola, Kansas, Mable was 82.
She is survived by her husband Matthew McDermott; two
daughters, Kathy Mittan of Fillmore, CA and Patricia Buffin of Las Vegas, NV ; sisters Myrtle Sawyer and Nadine Conner of Sylmar; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a son, Robert Kim.
Services were held at Conrad and Comer Mortuary in Oxnard.
Wallie Hunnington
Wallie Hunnington of Lake Isabella passed away at home May 20 following illness. He is survived by his wife Margaret of Lake Isabella; daughters Virginia Harley of Glendora. Wallie Hunnington was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army and had been a resident of the Kern Valley for 10 years.

Ronald Colgate
A funeral service was con- ducted graveside at the Kern Valley Cemetery for Ronald Col- gate of Port Hueneme formerly of Onyx. Officiating was Don Raines, minister of the Church of Christ, Mt. Mesa. Mr. Colgate passed away May 12 at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Dyer and survived by his father Howard Colgate of Houston, Texas; brother Danny Dyer of Upland; sisters Phyllis Smith of Vista, Carole Bhattacharyya of Bryan, Texas; Cindy Colgate of Belleveu, WA; aunts Lucille Laughter, Gladys llilbert, and Helen Stafford all of Onyx; three nephews, two nieces, three great- nephews and two great nieces and his beloved dog Lily.
