Kearney passed away Sept. 29 at home following illness, He is preceeded in death by wife, Isabel C. Kearney, deceased Aug. 22, 1987 and survived by his daughters Margaret Wood and Husband Gordon of Meridian, Idaho, Patricia Radis and hus- band John of Ventura, sister-in- law Patricia Thompson of Los Osos, 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.


Kearney was a member of the Elks, Moose and American


Legion where he had held the post of chaplain for several years. During WWII Kearney served with the Coast Guard Reserve. Born Aug. 7, 1901 in Chicago, Il- linois, William Michael Kearney was 88 years of age. Interment at the Mission San Fernando Cemetery, Mission Hills. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

A funeral service was con- ducted Friday, Sept. 29 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, for Marcella Ludiker of Kernville.


Officiating were officers of the Kern River Valley Ladies of the Elks; with eulogy by Carl Snlder. Graveside committal prayers were delivered by the Reverend Mick Templeton, associate pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church of Wofford Heights.


Marcella Ludiker passed away Sept. 27 at the Kern Valley Hospital In Mt. Mesa. She is sur- vived by her husband of 15 years Billie J. Ludiker of Kernville, son Michael of Kernville, daughters Marsha Wackeen of Montebello, Michelle Ludiker of South Lake Tahoe, Melinda Ludiker of Bellflower, Marilyn Stoller of Bakersfield and grandchildren.

Born Oct. 11, 1922 in Missouri, Marcella Eugenia Ludiker was 66 years of age.

William Ward


A funeral service was con- ducted Friday, Oct. 6 at the Grace Chapel of the Inglewood Park Cemetery In Inglewood for William "Bill" Ward, 78, of Wof- ford Heights. Officiating was Bishop James Jensen of the L.D.S. Ministry of Huntington Park. Mr. Ward passed away Oct. 3 at Kern Valley Hospital.


He is survived by his wife of 56 years Lula of Wofford Heights; daughters Sharon Marshall of Capistrano Beach, Paula Wetzel of Lake Elsinore; son William Ward of Carlsbad; 13 grand- children and five great grand- children; one sister Iva Miles of Downey.


Bill was a member of the Eagles, Friends of the Buffalo and a pilgrim member of the Moose. He had held officer posi- tions in these lodges.


Born Dec. 17, 1910 at Polk City, Iowa, Bill resided in California for 61 years, He lived in Hun- tington before moving to the Kern Valley.

A funeral service was con- ducted Oct. 11 at the Committal Chapel of the Arvin Cemetery for Nora Gale of Onyx. Officiating was Mr. Alvin Gale of the L.D.S. Ministry of Yucca Valley. Mrs. Gale passed away Oct. 5 at Kern Valley Hospital.


She is survived by her husband of 25 years Norman of Onyx; son Norman Jr. of Arizona; son Guy of Arizona; daughter Tina of Ar- vin and five grandchildren.


Born Jan. 13, 1927 in Mesa, Arizona, Nora El Gale was 62.

Josephine Harnage


A funeral service was con- ducted Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel for Josephine "Jo" Harnage of Lake Isabella. Officiating was Rev. James Lee, pastor of the Valley Community Church. Mr. Har- nage passed away Oct. 6 at Kern Valley Hospital.


She Is preceded In death by her husband James H. Harnage deceased Sept. 15, 1982 and sur- vived by her brothers Joseph and Anton Waletzko both of Min- nesota and friend Edward Wut- zke of Lake Isabella,


Jo Harnage has resided in the Kern Valley for more than 38 years. For much of that time she worked as bookkeeper and billing clerk of the Erskine Creek Water Co.


Harnage Street in Lake Isabella is named for her family. Born May 5, 1917 in Minnesota, Josephine Ann Harnage was 72.

Nathan William Beck


Nathan William Beck passed away Oct. 5 at Kern Valley Hospital. Cremation was Oct. 9 at Mish Funeral Home, Ouldale. No services were held.


Mr. Beck was a retired LCDR of the USCG and Navy and World War II veteran. He attended Pasadena High School and Oregon State University. He was a member of the Forestry Club and a member of the Antique Football Club of Pasadena, a charter member aud twice presi- dent of the local Retired Officers Association.


He is survived by his wife, Joy Alleen Beck of Kernville.


Loretta Gunnarson


A funeral service was con- ducted Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the Committal Chapel of the Kern River Valley Cemetery for Loret- ta Julia Gunnmarson of Wofford Heights. Eulogy and prayers were delivered by family and friends. Mrs. Gunnarson passed away Oct. 12 at a Bakersfield hospital.


She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Elmer of Wofford Heights; daughter and son in law Patricia Ellen and Herb Sapp of Ft. Meyers, Florida; son and daughter in law Elmer J. and Lona Gunnarson of Gardena; daughter Mary Louise Nickles of Whitter; 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.


Loretta had been a resident of the valley for 20 years.


Born Dec. 9, 1907 in Ellwood Ci- ty, Pennsylvania, Loretta Julia Gunnarson was 81.

A memorial service was con- ducted Sunday, Oct. 8 at the United Methodist Church Weldon for Anne Oliver, 87 of Lake Isabella. Officiating wsas Rev. Charles Smith, Pastor. Mrs. Oliver passed away Oct. 5 at home.


She Is survived by her husband James Oliver of Lake Isabella; daughter Norma Presnell Dunham of Lake Isabella and Beth Ann Neil of Indio; 10 grand- children, 15 great and two great- great grandchildren.


Born June 12, 1902 in Onyx, Kern County, the daughter of Pioneer ranchers Walter and Jennie Henderson Hanning, Anne lived most of her life in the valley. she attended South Fork


Elementary School and


Bakersfield High School.

ELLEN T. MORRIS


Ellen T. Morris, a former. Cor- ona resident most recently of Riverside, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 1989, at Corona Meadows Con- valescent Home. She was 67. Born May 30, 1922, in Utah, Mrs. Morris moved to Corona a year ago from Wofford Heights. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Foothill Ward.


Survivors include two daughters, Caroline Weber of Riverside and Eileen Brody of Torrance; a son, Earl Morris of Bakersfield, a brother, Don Moss of Palos Verdes; four grandchildren and a great- grandchild.


Visitation will be after 11 a.m. tomorrow at Thomas Miller Mortuary.


A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the mor- tuary. Private burial will be Wednesday at Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights.


Leora Keyhill


A funeral service was con- ducted Tuesay Oct. 17 at the Committal Chapel of the Kern River Valley Cemetery for Leora "Lee" Reyhill of Wofford Heights. Officiating was Rev. Willard Van Fossen, United Methodist Church.


Mrs. Reyhill passed away Oct. 12 at San Joaquin Hospital in Bakersfield. She is preceded In death by her husband Sverre William Reyhill deceased Nov. 17, 1985 and survived by her dear friend Joseph Yarick of Wofford Heights.


Born March 8, 1808 in Meridian, Mississippi, Leora Reyhill was 81.

John Clevinger


A funeral service was con- ducted Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Committal Chapel of the Kern Valley Cemetery for John Clev- inger of Squirrel Valley. Of- ficlating was Rev. David Snow, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lake Isabella. Mr. Clevinger passed away Oct. 8 at the Kern Valley Hospital.


He is survived by his wife of 83 years Opal of Squirrel Valley; daughter and son in law Evelyn and James Fowler of Squirrel Valley; granddaughter and grandson in law Leslie and Joseph Wilson of Los Angeles, great granddaughter Lyndsey Wilson; sisters Connie Adkinson and Judy Murphree both of Ven- tura and neices and nephews.


John Clevinger was a retired electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He had serv- ed 33 years with Douglas Aircraft and later with McDonnell Douglas Corp as Electrical Maintenance Foreman. Mr. Clev- Inger had resided in the Kern Valley for 19 years and was a member of the Moose .


Born Oct. 2, 1904 in Rockville, Missouri, John Arnold Clevinger was 85. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.


David Handel


Services were held Oct. 13 at the Eternal Valley Memorlal Park in Newhall for Davld Handel, of Lake Isabella. Chaplain Charles Pickens officiated.


Mr. Handel was born April 30, 1919 In Byrnedale, Pennsylvania. He died Oct. 10.


Mr. Handel had lived In Lake Isabella for eight years and was a member of the VFW, Granada Hills, Kern Valley Moose Lodge, World War II Veterans.


Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Handel; daughter Linda Cole of Simi Valley; son Timothy Handel; two grandchildren and a brother George Handel.

She is survived by her husband Frank of Wofford lleights; 3 daughters, Sharon, Deborah and Cin- dy ; sons Michael and James, all of Southern Calif. and 9 grandchildren; step sister Marilyn Fanelli of Westminster.


Maxine Ronich was a member of the Ladies of the Elks and a resident of the Kern Valley for 10 years.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday, Oct. 21 al the St. Jude parish Catholic Church in Wof- ford Helghts for Louls F. Cissell of Wofford Heights. Celebrant of the Mass was Rev. Monsignor Anthony G. Herdegen, pastor of the St. Jude Church. Mr. Cissell passed away Oct. 19 at Kern Valley Hospital.


He is survived by his wife of 49 years Lottie of Wofford Heights; son Louis Jr. and daughter in law Val of Inglewood; daughters Mary Lorraine Feldman of San Francisco, Dolores I. Kruse of Phoenix; brothers Glen and Howard of Missouri; brother Lee of Colorado; grandson Aaron Anthony Cissell of Inglewood; sister in law and brother in law Mr. and Mrs. C.O. A funeral service was conducted graveside at the Kern Valley Cemetery for Elvin Hl. "Al" Strong of Bodfish on Saturday, Oct. 21. Of- ficlating and rendering veteran honors were representives of VFW Post 7665 and KRV Chapter 54 Disabl- ed American Veterans. Mr. Strong passed away Oct. 18 at home.


He is survived by his wife of 47 years Wanda of Bodfish; daughter Sharon Robinson of Wofford Heights; daughter Maurita Wall of Redondo Beach; daughter Maureena Duffy of Garden Grove; brother Elmer of Bod- fish and six grandchildren.

Alfred Clayton "Buck" Willson of Wofford Heights passed away Oct. 15 at Kem Valley Hospital.


He is survived by his wife Beatrice of Wofford Heights; daughter and son in law Patricia and Ed Beck of Palm Springs; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Buck Willson was born April 24, 1903. He was 86 years of age and a resident of Kern River Valley for the past 26 years.

James W. McGaughey


James McGaughey of Lake Isabella passed away Oct. 16 at Mer- cy Hospital in Bakersfield.


Hle is survived by his wife of 43 years, Felice of Lake Isabella; sons Scott of Northern California, Dan and wife Vicki of Lake Isabella, Kirk and wife Penny of Palmdale; daughter Debra of Northern California and 10 grandchildren.


James McGaughey served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW U. He was a nose gunner aboard B-24 bombers on 30 combat nussions. Shot down over Hungary in 1944 he was intemed as a German POW for more than one year.


Before moving to the Kern Valley five years ago, Mr. McGaughey resid- ed in Redondo Beach where he work- ed as a maintenance supervising engineer for the Gardena and Horse Shoe Clubss.


Born Oct. 23, 1922 in St. Paul, Hen- nepin County, Minnesota, James Wallace McGaughey was 66.

Frank Lovelace


A funeral service was con- ducted Tuesday, Oct 31 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel in Lake Isabella for Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Lovelace of Bodfish. Of- ficlating was Hugh Jeffrey minister of the Church of Christ in Lake Isabella. Mr. Lovelace passed away Oct. 28 at Kern Valley Hospital.


He is survived by his wife of 47 years Doris of Bodfish; daughter and son in law Patricia and David Burn of Garden Grove; daughter Carol and son In law Bob Dunn of Cypress; brothers Earl and Ben- nett both of Alabama and five grandchildren.


Frank Lovelace was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired after nearly 20 years with the Long Beach Naval Shipyard and moved to the Kern Valley 18 years ago from Long Beach. Mr. Lovelace became a founding member of the Lake Isabella Church of Christ.


Born Dec. 27, 1915 in Florence, Lauderdale County, Alabama, Benjamin Franklin Lovelace was 73.


Interment at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Cypress where graveside ser- vices were conduced by Larry Houchen, Church of Christ of Long Beach.

Mrs. Sunderland had been a resident of the Kern Valley for the past six years.

Don Lee Walker passed away Oct. 8 at the Ridgecrest Com- munity Hospital. He was 56.


Born Feb. 24, 1933 in Los Angeles, he lived in Ridgecrest for 14 years after moving from Wofford Helghts. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 and was employed as an electronics technician with Texas


Instruments.


Mr. Walker is survived by his wife Delores Jean of Ridgecrest; a son Lyle of Kernville; daughter Dawn Walker of Kernville; 3 step daughters and 8 grandchildren.


He was buried at Desert Memorial Park.

Ernestine Moore of Weldon passed away Nov. 15 at Kern Valley Hospital. She is survived by her husand Arlon of Weldon; children Betty Bene of Carson, Robert Moore of Modesto and grandchildren; one sister Peg Oliver of Arizona.


Mrs. Moore was a resident of the valley for 16 years, having moved here from Bisbee, Arizona.

Mr. Graybeal passed away Nov. 14 at a Bakersfield hospital. He is preceded in death by his wife Vivian deceased Oct. 23, 1982 and survived by his mother in law Cora Cooke of Lake Isbella.


Mr. Graybeal was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Asiatic-Pacific region.

Bernard Folstad was a U.S. Ar- my veteran of WW II who served in demolition and motor pool in the Asiatic-Pacific region.

Robert Coward


Graveside services were held for Robert Leslie Coward at the Veterans National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Oregon with the Bishop James Cox officiating. Mr. Coward, 89, of White City died Nov. 16.


Mr. Coward was born Aug. 22, 1920 in Bingham Canyon, Utah, on Feb. 25, 1948, he married the former Nelline Edra Patterson Moore who survives him. He had worked as a grocery clerk and for Lofland Drilling Co. both in Bakersfield. He had also worked for Douglas and Hughes Aircraft for over 28 years and retired in 1976.


He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1168 in Oregon, the Good Sams Club in Lake Isabella and the Elks Camper Club In Oregon. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.


Survivors in addition to his wife include, one daughter, Sondra Joy Baldwin of Torrance; four sons, Billy Eugene Moore of Quinlan, Texas, Stephen Coward of, Salt Lake City, Utahr Willer Moore of Bodfish, Robert Allen Coward of Tehachapi, 16 grand- children and 2 great grand- children. Two brothers and three sisters precede him in death.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Oregon Sight and Hearing Center, 228 No. Holly, Medford or the Handicap- ped program of the Elks Lodge 1168, 202 No. Central, Medford, OR.

Waltraud "Vie" Glassman


Mrs. Waltraud "Vie" Glassman passed away Nov. 21 at age 84. She is survived by her husband Paul Glassman, children Paul Glassman, Jr., Riesiele Flavin, Opal Mata and Barbara and Michael Downing, seven grandchildren.


Mrs. Glassman was a member of the Moose Lodge of Lake Isabella.


Memorial services were held Saturday, Nov. 25 at the Chapel of the Valley Mortuary in Palmdale with Rev. Clifford Schultz of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment was private. Chapel of the Valley Mortuary directors.

Myrtle R. Doremus


A funeral service was con- ducted Monday, Nov. 27 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel in Lake Isabella for Myrtle R. Doremus of Lake Issabella. Officiating was Rev. Matthew James Wilson of the Free Will Baptist Church of Bakersfield. Mrs. Doremus pass- ed away Nov. 21 at a Bakersfield hospital.


She was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow "Woodie" Doremus, deceased 1982. She is survived by her sons Bill Mead of Lake Isabella, Sam Mead of Taft and Mike Mead of Bakersfield. Mrs. Doremus is also survived by sister Winifred Rosenbach of Vallejo; brother Perry Thatcher of Oroville; stepsons Jack Doremus of Bakersfield and Charles Doremus also of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.


Born May 22, 1919 in Taft, Myr- tle Ruth Doremus was 70.


Interment at the Kern River Valley Cemetery. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.


Marie S. Albin


Marie Albin passed away Nov. 24 in Bakersfield at the San Joa- quin Hospital.


She is survived by her husband of 39 years, John Albin of Onyx, three sisters, Margarite Judd of Sacramento, Mary Hixon of Gower, MO, and Rose Ray of Sacramento; one brother, James Russel of Pioneer.

Former Kernville resident An- na Hutchison died Nov. 25 in Ar- vin. She was 87.


She had lived in Kernville from 1859 until 1985, when she entered a rest home in Arvin.
