Arthur New
A funeral service was con- ducted Friday, March 9 at the Valley Mortuary chapel in Lake Isabella for Arthur G. New of Lake Isabella. Officiating was Rev. John Davis, pastor of the Assembly of God church, Wofford Heights. Mr. New passed away at home March 4 following illness.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Lake Isabella; sons Arlon G. New of Kernville, Ronald New of Inyokern, Daughter Linda Jones of Bodfish. Art New was the oldest of 14 children and is survived by sisters Bonnie of Florida, Dixie of Oregon, Dee of Oregon, Faye of Arkansas, Jeannie of California; brothers Harold of Kansas and Ted of Illinois.
Art New was a founding member of the Coast Guard Aux- iliary Flotilla 75 and taught safe boating at Woodrow Wallace School, Bakersfield High and Sierra Sands college.
He was retired from NWC China Lake after 23 years as a computer specialist and micro circuitry. Art was a Baptist minister in the early years of his life and pastored for more than 13 years in Arkansas, Arizona and California.
Born Sept. 21, 1910 in Arkansas, Arthur Glenn New was 79 years of age. Interment at the Kern River Valley Cemetery. Ar- rangements by Valley Mortuary.
Marvin Franks
Services were held on Feb. 10 at Allen's Mortuary in Bell Gardens Cemetery for Marvin Franks, who died Feb. 6 at Inland Valley Hospital in Riverside County.
Mr. Franks was Born in Ami- ty, Arkansas on Sept. 7, 1913 and died at the age of 76 years
Mr. Franks served with the Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Marie Franks of Lake Isabella; two daughters, Lema Sue Poling of Murrieta, CA; Cyn- thia Lou Crismon of Murrieta, CA four grandchildren Vickie Bier- brodt, Debra Kelly, Amy and Summer Crismon all of CA; four great-grandchildren Nicolas, Candace and Elizabth Bierbrodt and Patrick Kelly, all of Califor- nia; brothers, Clifford and Austin, both of Arkansas; sisters Mona Roberts, Zona Burchfield, both of Arkansas; Luree Morris of Salem, Oregon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Franks lived in Lake Isabella for 11 years and retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Union No. 12.
He was a member of Mt. View Southern Baptist Church of Lake Isabella.
Ronald Pennington
A funeral service was con- ducted Monday, March 5 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel in Lake Isabella for Ronald R. Penn- ington of Onyx. Officiating was Pastor Kenneth Kirkpatrick of the South Shore Ministries of Mt Mesa. Mr. Pennington passsed away March 1 at the Kern Valley Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Mar- jory of Onyx; son Ronald of California; daughter Sandra of Virginia; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Ornella Lewsader of WA and Dolores Esterline of AZ, nieces and nephews.
Ronald Pennington was a WW II Veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, Moose, Kern Valley C.B.ers, For- resters (100F).
Born Jan. 31, 1915 in Taylor- ville, Christian County, Il- linois, Ronald Ralston Pennington was 75 years of age.

Charles "Doc"
Ackerman
A funeral service was con- ducted Wednesday, March 7 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel for Charles "Doc" Ackerman of Lake Isabella. Officiating were officers of KRV Masonic Lodge No. 827. Dr. Ackerman passed away March 4 at the Kern Valley Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Genevieve of Lake Isabella; grandsons Allen Acker- man of Oregon, George Acker- man of Oregon; brother Cleyts of Missouri.
Doc Ackerman was a Mason and founding Master of the Kern River Valley Lodge No. 827. He was a member of the Shrine, Scottish Rite and York Rite bodies and Eastern Star. Doc was a veteran of WW II and a doctor of chiropractic medicine. He had resided in the Kern Valley for 27 years.
Born July 1, 1907 in Missouri, Charles De Witt "Doc" Acker- man was 82 years old.

Roy Jones
Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 6 at Hillcrest Mortuary for Roy A. Jones, who died March 4.
Roy Jones, 69, was a 30 year re- sient of the Kern Valley who was retired from the Corps of Engineers, he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the KRV Moose Lodge, Legion 9194 and a member for 21 years of the KRV Elks Lodge. He also belong- ed to the American Legion.
Roy was born Dec. 21, 1920 in Toronto, Canada and had lived in Kern County for 44 years. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Lorraine of Weldon; daughter Debra Sellman of Mad River; daughter and son-in-law Denise and Robert Rhoads of Mt. Mesa; six grandchildren, Shan, Robert and Ryan Sellman of Mad River and Eric, Anna and Robby Rhoads of Mt. Mesa and a sister Pat Nelson of Ventura.
Thelma Krueger
Thelma Krueger of Weldon passed away at the Bakersfield Convalescent Hospital on March 14.
She is preceded in death by husband Karl deceased in 1988 and survived by sons Bill of San- ta Paula, Al of Weldon and Den- nis of Colorado; sister Maxine Nessler of Brown's Valley, CA; six grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
Born Aug. 14, 1914 in Pueblo, Colorado, Thelma Lucille Krueger was 75.

John M. Trotter
Services will be held on March 20 at 1 p.m. at the Valley Mor- tuary for John M. Trotter who passed away at home on March 13.
Mr. Trotter was born Oct. 26, 1923 in Milburn, Oklahoma and was 66 years of age at the time of his death.
He was retired from the Gar- rett Corporation and Louisiana Pacific and had been a resident of Wofford Heights for 19 years.
Mr. Trotter is preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Trotter in 1970. He is survived by his wife, Loisell of Wofford Heights, daughter Lucretia Chmielewski and son-in-law Mike, of Fairfield, CA; daughter Vickie Lester, and son-in-law Art, of El Segundo; Johnel Hoffman and son-in-law, Clay, of Wofford Heights: grandchildren A.J. Lester, John Chmielewski and Eddie Lester; brother Guy Trot- ter of El Cajon; sisters Kathren Ellison of Salem, OR and Wanda Martin, of Albany, CA.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW Post 7665, Moose Lodge No. 198 and Disabled American Veterans. He served in the Navy during World War II.
John Trotter participated in a cancer research program through the VA/U.C.L.A. medical center. Due to his will- ingness to participate, the doc- tors were able to obtain valuable information which will be useful in helping other patients.

Stella Lynch of Bodfish passed away March 8 a the Kern Valley Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charley Lynch deceas- ed in 1980. She is survived by her daughter Joanne Wiley of Califor- nia; stepson Ralph Lynchof New Jersey.

Georgia M. Roach
A funeral service was con- ducted Wednesday, March 21 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella for Georgia Roach of Weldon. Officiating was Rev. John Carpenter, Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, Lake Isabella. Mrs. Roach passed away March 17 at teh San Joa- quin Community Hospital, Bakersfield.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, John, "Jack" Roach of Weldon; sons Gary of Tacoma, Washington, Kurt of Weldon, David of Orlando, FLA, Daniel of Captistrano, Douglas of Hun- tington Beach; daughters Sandra of Van Nuys, Karen of Weldon; aunt Belle Ison of Culver City; sister in law Helen Mitchell of Los Angeles and 18 grandchildren.
Mrs. Roach had been a resident of the Kern Valley since 1981, moving from the San Fernando Valley. Born Sept. 18, 1928 in Oklahoma, Georgia Marcenia Roach was 61.

Raymond Kirkpatrick
A funeral service was con- ducted, Wednesday March 21 graveside at the Kern River Valley Cemetery, Wofford Heights for Raymond Kirkpatrick of Kernville. Of- ficiating were officers of KRV Oddfellows Lodge. Mr. Kirkpatrick passed away March 16 at a Bakersfield Hospital.
He is survived by his daughters Neal Downes of Simi Valley, Joan McCitcheon of Poway, Mary Sherwood of Indiana and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick had been a resident of the Kern Valley for the past 26 years and was a member of the Oddfellows.

Vernon W. Hill
Vernon W. Hill of Bodfish pass- ed away March 24 at the Kern Valley Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Jule of Bodfish; daughter Eleene J. Myers of San Diego, son Vernon Hill, Jr. of Wofford Heights, grandchildren Mathew, Mark and Timothy of San Diego, Lizabeth of San Diego and Brian of Bakersfield.
Vernon Hill was a Master Mason and a member of the Flagstaff, Arizona Masonic Lodge. During WW II he served with the U.S. Army. Vernon Hill was a retired high school teacher having served 31 years mostly with the Grossmont Union High School District.
Born Feb. 10, 1919 near McGill, Nevada, Vernon Willard Hill was 71.
Minnie Marie Hedges
Memorial services were held March 1 at Kern Valley Christian Church by Pastor Duane Splawn for Minnie Marie Hedges. Graveside services were held at Westminster Memorial Park on March 3. Interment at Westminster Park.
Minnie Hedges was born in Los Angeles on Feb. 22, 1919 and pass- ed away Feb. 26 in Bakersfield. She was 71.
She is survived by one son Gary Galyen of Grand Prarie, Texas; two step grandchildren Debbie Cote and Danny Blaue of Garden Grove; one step-great grand- daughter Ashely Cote.
She was a resident of Wofford Heights for 14 years and retired from her own clothes cleaning business in Hermosa Beach. She performed many bookeeping services for residents.

Luella Henstra Luella Henstra passed away March 31 in Lake Isabella at the age of 79.
Loving mother of Michael Henstra of Lake Isabella and Jack Henstra, Jr. of Sacramento, she is also survived by four grandchildren.
Mrs. Henstra was preceded in death by her husband Jack Henstra and son, James D. Henstra. Mr. and Mrs. Henstra were the founders of Desert Haven Training Center In Lan- caster and the Antelope Valley Association for Retarded Children.
Mrs. Henstra was born in Bloomington, CA Nov. 2, 1910 and moved to Southlake Estates in July, 1982. Just last year, Henstra was honored as the Volunteer of the Year for the Kern River Valley Senior Citizen Program in Lake Isabella.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Desert Haven Training Center, P.O. Box 2119, Lancaster, CA 93539. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 6 at 11 a.m. at Joshua Memorial Park in Lan- caster,
Floyd Norwood
Floyd Norwood of Lake Isabella passed away March 17 in Moreno Valley at the age of 66.
He was born Oct. 14, 1923 in Springfield, Missouri and worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. for 37 years.
A graveside service was held March 22 at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.

Frank M. Robetson died Mon- day, March 19 in Yuma, Arizona. He was 76 years of age.
Mr. Robertson who was a native of Salem, Indiana, lived in Lake Isabella from 1970 to 1983. He retired in 1975 after 30 years in the construction trade. He was a member of the Kern Valley Elks Lodge and had been an Elk for 33 years.
He is survived by his wife Crystal, three children, six grandchildren, four sisters and three brothers.

A funeral service was con- ducted graveside at the Taren- tum Cemetery, Tarentum Penn- sylvania for Miriam Hillerud of Reeder Tract, Lake Isabella.

Mrs. Hillerud passed away March 22 at the Kern Valley Hospital. She is survived by her husband Albert of Lake Isabella; sister Elvira Smith and brother Russell Toward, both of Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Hillerud had been a resi- dent of the Kern Valley for the past eight years.

Jack R. Yager
A funeral service was con- ducted Monday, April 16 at the Valley Mortuary for Jack Yager of Wofford Heights. Officiating was Rev. Grant Allen pastor of the United Methodist Church, Kernville. Mr. Yager passed away April 12 at the Kern Valley Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Alice of Wofford Heights. Jack and Alice would have celebrated their 46 wedding anniversary on April 19. He is also survived by his step children Danny Caussey of New Mexico, Charles Caussey of Washington, Jeanne Beaumont of Quincey; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Jack Yager was a U.S. Army enlisted man serving in the Phillipine Islands at the outbreak of World War II. He was captured by the Japanese and was intern- ed as a prisoner of war for more than three years. His military career spanned 34 years and three wars. During his service, Jack receive many decorations including the Bronze Star.
He was a member of Post 7665 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chapter 54 Disabled American Veterans, American Ex- Prisoners of War. Born Dec. 4, 1921 in Mackinaw City, Michigan, Jack Richard Yager was 68 years old.

Dennis Guider was a member of VFW Post 7665 and a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps who served in Germany.

Born March 20, 1928 in Bronx, Bronx County, New York, Dennis James Guider was 62.

She is preceded in death by husband Robert Bruce Donoho deceased in 1975 and by daughter Ollie Nylene decesed in 1986. Lilah is survived by her sons Bob of San Jose, Don of Culver City, George of Kernville; 10 grand- children and 20 great grand- children and one brother Blaine Bennett of Missouri.
Born Dec. 20, 1901 in Sullivan County, Missouri, Lilah Pearl Donoho was 88 years of age.

Gladys H. Scott
A funeral service was con- ducted Monday, April 23 at the United Methodist Church Kern- ville for Gladys Scott of Kern- ville. Officiating was Rev. Grant Allen, pastor. Mrs. Scott, 69, passed away April 18 at Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edward of Kernville; daughters Marie Robertson of Saugus, Karen Scott of Alameda, Susan Leffler of Oregon; four grandhcildren and one great grandchild. Gladys Scott was a member of the Eastern Star and a resident of the Kern Valley for eight years.

ACCIDENT
Kernville woman dies in car plunge
A Kernville woman was killed In a single car accident after be- ing thrown from a vehicle.
Janet McDaris, 31, was pro- nounced dead at the scene of the 10:15 a.m. accident on Friday, April 20, according to the Callfor- nia Highway Patrol.
McDaris was a passenger in the car driven by Edwin Berst, 30, of Bakersfield. Berst was driving his 1979 Lincoln sedan on China Garden Road, a dirt road off Highway 178 in the Kern River Canyon. Berst told the CHP that
he was traveling north on China Garden Road when he hit a bump in the road, which caused him to lose control of his car. The car ran off the west side of the road, and down 350 feet to the bottom, hitting a rock embankment.
McDaris was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.
Berst suffered minor injuries. McDaris' two children Donnie and Christy, both 14 and of Kern- ville suffered minor injuries. The driver and two teenagers were wearing seatbelts.

OBITUARY
Glen William Adair
A memorial service was held Monday, April 30 at the Kern River Valley Moose Lodge in Lake Isabella for Glen William Adair of Lake Isabella. Of- ficiating were the officers of the Kern River Valley Moose Lodge.
Mr. Adair was born March 16, 1922 in Alberta, Canada and he died April 27 at his residence. He was 68 years old.
He is survived by his wife of seven years Bonnie Adair of Lake Isabella; son Glen Jr. of Elko, Nevada; daughter Jean Batana of Westminster; step-sons Jerry Cochran of Houston, Texas, Owen Cochran of Dallas, step-daughter Sandra Kay of Bebe, Arkansas and five grandchildren.
