Building Associations and Savings Banks

Differ from Savings Banks, in requiring monthly payments to be made of one dollar on a share, and in allowing a higher rate of interest than 6 per cent. to be taken on loans to stockholders, in the form of a bonus. No moneys can be withdrawn until the shares, including principal and interest, amount to $200, when the stock becomes full. The average rate of interest, including the bonus, at present, is about 15 per cent. Besides payments on stock, these institutions receive money on deposit, to be with- drawn at pleasure, the same as Savings Banks.
