To the public.
BRADLEY'S REGISTER was commenced in 1847, and in 1849 it was combined with GREEN'S. The Register of 1847* contains, ) Annals of Connecticut ; The Patent of 1631; The Charter of 1662; List of State Officers from 1639 to 1846; and Historical Notices of Probate Courts, and of each Town, &c. That of 1848 contains. The Constitution of 1639; List of Assistants from 1639 to 1819 ; Democratic Powers of Towns, &c. That of 1849 con- tains. The Organization of the Superior Court in 1711, and List of Judges from 1711 to 1849, &c. That of 1850 contains, the Votes for Governor from 1819 to 1849 ; List of Senators from 1830 to 1849, with votes of opposing Candidates, &c. That of 1851 contains, Population of the Towns of the State at different Peri- ods, &c. The present Register contains a list of Members of Congress from 1765 to 1853, & c.
We have been at the utmost pains to make the Register for 1853 as full and accurate as possible. But no work of the kind can be more perfect than the returns made. Though most of these were accurately made and promptly returned-for which we give our sincere thanks-yet many were hastily and incompletely made, names obscurely written, and not returned in season ; and some have not come to hand, though three separate blanks have been sent.
We shall send Registers to those who have made returns, as far as ordered. And such others as do not receive them, will be supplied by applying to F. A. Brown, Hartford.
The public are as much interested as the publisher in having the Register accurate and complete. For this purpose, we desire that any errors in the present number, which may be continued, particularly in Justices of Peace, may be noted, and sent to F. A. Brown, Hartford, or Wmn. S. Porter, New Haven. We also wish the names of some one in each town, interested in statistical mat- ters, sent as above ; to whom blanks will be sent for future num- bers of the Register. Those making returns are entitled to a copy of the Register as compensation.
* The publisher has for sale a few copies of the back numbers of the Register.
