In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of Weymouth aforesaid quali- fied to vote in Town affairs to meet in the hall of the Weymouth High School on
MONDAY, THE THIRTEENTH DAY OF JANUARY, 1958
at seven o'clock and forty-five minutes in the evening, then and there to act upon the following articles namely:
ARTICLE 1. (By Direction of the Board of Selectmen and at the Request of the Building Committee.) To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation, or otherwise, and appropriate, for the pur- pose of constructing and originally equipping and furnishing an elementary school on the site off Middle Street whose purchase was authorized at the Annual Town Meeting held in March 1957, or take any other action in relation thereto. (Center Portable School replacement).
ARTICLE 2. (By Direction of the Board of Selectmen and at the Request of the Building Committee). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation, or otherwise, and appropriate, for the purpose of constructing and originally equipping and furnishing an addition to the Pond School consisting of six classrooms, a remedial reading room, auxiliary spaces, an additional boiler, and a multi-purpose room, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 3. (By Direction of the Board of Selectmen and at the Request of the School Committee). To see what additional sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation, or otherwise, and appropriate, for the purpose of preparing preliminary plans for the construction of a High School to be built on the land to be purchased or taken by Eminent Do- main under Article 3 of the Special Town Meeting held on November 18, 1957, said sum to be expended under the direction of the Building Com- mittee authorized under Article 5 of the above Special Town Meeting, or take any other action in relation thereto.

You are directed to serve this Warrant by posting a true copy thereof, attested by you in writing, in each of two public places in each voting precinct in said town, seven days at least before the date of holding said meeting.

TOWN OF WEYMOUTH SPECIAL TOWN MEETING MONDAY, JANUARY 13, 1958
Pursuant to a Warrant duly issued, the Special Town Meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Weymouth, represented by their duly elected and qualified Town Meeting Members, was held in the auditorium of the Weymouth High School on Monday, January 13, 1958.
The Meeting was called to order at 7:45 o'clock in the evening by the Annual Moderator, Mr. Daniel L. O'Donnell.
The Town Clerk, Mr. Harry Christensen, read the call of the Meeting.
There were 167 Town Meeting Members present.
Upon motion duly made, it was
UNANIMOUSLY VOTED: That the reading of the Articles in the Warrant be suspended.
Prayer for Divine Guidance at this Special Town Meeting was offered by the Reverend Father Bernard M. Hoey, Assistant Pastor of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Weymouth Landing.
There were no Town Meeting Members to be administered the oath by the Moderator.
The Moderator declared a quorum present.
We now continue with consideration of the Articles in the Warrant.
ARTICLE 1. (By Direction of the Board of Selectmen and at the Request of the Building Committee). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation, or otherwise, and appropriate, for the purpose of constructing and originally equipping and furnishing an elementary school on the site off Middle Street whose purchase was au- thorized at the Annual Town Meeting held in March 1957, or take any other action in relation thereto. (Center Portable School replacement).
MOVED by the Appropriation Committee:
That the sum of $313,200.00 be raised and appropriated for the pur- pose of constructing and originally equipping and furnishing an elementary school and for development of the site off Middle Street, which purpose was authorized at the Annual Town meeting held in March, 1957; and that to meet said appropriation $13,200.00 shall be appropriated from the Excess and Deficiency Account; and the Treasurer, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow the sum of $300,000.00 under authority of Chapter 645 of the Acts of 1948 as amended, and to issue Bonds or notes, to be payable in accordance with provisions of Chapter 44 of the General Laws, so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than twenty (20) years from the date of issue of the first Bond or Note. The sums appropriated shall be expended under the direction of the Building Committee appointed under Article 44 $13,200.00 of the Annual Town Meeting of March, 1957. $300,000.00

Upon motion duly made by the Appropriation Committee, is was
UNANIMOUSLY VOTED: That the sum of $268,000.00 be raised and appropriated for the purpose of constructing and originally equipping and furnishing an addition to the Pond School consisting of six (6) class rooms, a remedial reading room, auxiliary spaces, an additional boiler and a multi-purpose room, and for development of the site, and to meet said appropriation $18,000.00 shall be appropriated from the Excess and Deficiency Account; and the Treasurer with the approval of the Board of Selectmen be and hereby is authorized to borrow the sum of $250,000.00 under authority of Chapter 645 of the Acts of 1918 as amended, and to issue bonds or notes to be payable in accordance with provisions of Chap- ter 44 of the General Laws so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than twenty (20) years from the date of issue of the first bond or note. The sums appropriated shall be expended under the direction of the Building Committee appointed under Article 4 of the Special Town $18,000.00 Meeting of April 29, 1957.
