ANNUAL VOTES
ARTICLE 2. (By Direction of Selectmen). To take any action the Town may desire upon the reports of the several Town Boards and Com- mittees and to appoint or change any Committee that the Town may think proper.
ARTICLE 3. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, on and after January 1, 1959, to borrow in anticipation of the revenue of the year 1959.
ARTICLE 4. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote from surplus for the use of the assessors in determin- ing the tax rate for the year 1958, or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 5. (By Direction of Selectmen). That the Selectmen be authorized to sell or otherwise dispose of personal property and any real estate of which the Town has possession or title, including all property taken for non-payment of taxes, all such cases of sale to be made by pub- lic auction or private sale as the Selectmen may deem for the best in- terest of the Town, and that the Board or Officer in charge of any other Town Department may, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen, sell at public auction or private sale, as the Board of Selectmen may ap- prove, any personal property belonging to said Department which in the opinion of the Officer or Board in charge of the Department which is no longer needed by the Town and which in the opinion of the Selectmen is not needed by any other Department, provided that in each case in- volving real estate, majorities of the Planning Board, Sewer Commission- ers and Park Commissioners respectively vote to concur in the opinion that the property will not be needed for parks, playgrounds or other public use, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 6. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Board of Selectmen to accept conveyances or mort- gages of any real or personal property belonging to persons receiving re- lief from the Town, and dispose of said property in the manner they may judge for the Town's best interest and to authorize them to discharge any encumbrances on said property if they consider it for the best inter- est of the Town and so to do and to see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the discharging of such encum- brances.

ARTICLE 7. (On Petition and by Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will accept the several reports of the Selectmen laying out as Town ways the following designated private ways and parts of them, to wit :- --
ALACHUA ROAD - Approximately 245 feet from a point at 37 Manatee Road to a point at Okala Road.
ALBERT ROAD - From a point at the interesction of Hinston Road to a point 340 feet easterly.
BLAKE ROAD - From the intersection of Welland Road about 230 feet to Blake Read Extension.
BLUEFIELD TERRACE - From Ledgebrook Road to a point at the Hing- ham-Weymouth Town Line.
BURKHALL STREET - From the intersection of Pleasant Street to a point 640 feet northwesterly.
DAVIS ROAD - From Pond Street to Ivy Road.
EDWARD CODY LANE - From Bluefield Terrace to a point at the Land of Grace E. Thompson.

or any portion of said ways, and will authorize the Board of Selectmen to acquire by gift or purchase or take by right of Eminent Domain in fee or otherwise for all purposes of a public street and highway in and over each of said streets as laid out and accepted, and see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the working of each of the above-named streets, including the acquisitions of the fee above referred to and for the building of any bridges, drains and conduits or securing easements which may be necessary in connection therewith, and to see whether the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to accept deeds of any reservation strips existing in connection with any said streets, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 8. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate to reconstruct, resur- face, widen, straighten, relocate or work, Commercial and Pleasant Streets and/or any other streets, or any portion of said way and for the build- ing of any bridges, drains and conduits, or securing easements which may be necessary in connection therewith, and to see whether the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to accept deeds of any reservation strips existing in connection with said street, provided the State, cr county, or both will appropriate a sum of money to help defray the ex- penses of such work; and transfer from surplus funds that the Town may have, the county and state share of said cost, the amount of this transfer or reimbursement to be credited to the account from which it came; and will authorize the Board of Selectmen to acquire by gift, pur- chase or take by right of eminent domain in fee or otherwise for all purposes of a public street and highway in and over said street and such property as may be necessary or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 9. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will raise and approprite or borrow the sum of $250,000.00 for continuance of the Major Highway Program for reconstruction of main streets and roads including Commercial, Church, Green, Evans, Pleasant Streets pro- vided that Chapter 90 funds, if any may be used for this purpose, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 10. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will take by right of eminent domain in fee or otherwise the lands and buildings at 1349 to 1379 Pleasant Street as shown on plan "Plan of Land in Weymouth, Mass. Proposed Land Taking" plan No. 204-B dated October 1956 made by Arthur J. Bilodeau, Town Engineer, for the purpose of widening Pleasant Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 11. (On Petition of George E. Lane and Others). To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate for the relocation, widening and reconstruction of Pleasant Street from 1393 Pleasant Street to the junction of Water and Pleasant Streets, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 12. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, by taxation, or otherwise, for the purpose acquiring by gift, purchase, or eminent domain in fee a parcel of land on Pleasant Street adjacent to the Police Station now or formerly of Helena F. Reidy, said parcel of land being shown on plan entitled "Plan of Land in Weymouth, Mass," dated De- cember 27, 1957, Plan number 329-B made by Arthur J. Bilodeau, Town Engineer, said land for use of and as a parking area for the Police Sta- tion, and for Police purposes or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 13. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise the sum of $10,500.00 for the construction of a retaining wall on the southerly side of Oak Street, wall beginning at the intersection of Oak Street and Pine Street and ending at 27 Oak Street a distance of approximately 350 feet or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 14. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise a sum of money for installing water mains and for the working of Wituwamat Road, said street having been accepted at the 1957 Town Meeting, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 15. (By Direction of the Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise for the purpose of acquiring by gift, purchase or to take by right of Eminent Domain in fee, or as otherwise specified, lands along Front, Summer and Broad Streets, Weymouth, Mass., in accordance with Chapter 79 of the General Laws for the purpose of Alteration, Widening and Reconstructing of said streets or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 16. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for construction of sidewalks and curbing in the sidewalk building program; said money to be under the jurisdiction of the Board of Selectmen or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 17. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise a sum of money to construct sidewalk and install curbing on the northerly side of Ralph Talbot Street, between Pleasant Street and the Hingham Line, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 18. (By Direction of Se"ectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise a sum of money for the black topping and maintenance of a side walk on the westerly side of Washington Street (Route No. 3) from the corner of Winter Street and Washington Streets, to the Boston Motor Court a distance of about 1150 feet provided work to be completed only if the State Department of Public Works prepares the area for black top work to be done by a contractor or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 19. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $4,000 for the installation of curbing on the Northerly side of Park Avenue and Ralph Talbot Street (Auto Route 128) from the Pleasant Street Intersection Easterly to the Hingham Line, a distance of approximately 6,800 feet, provided the work to be completed only if the State Department of Public Works installs the curbing and the Town of Weymouth widens the existing bi- tuminous concrete to a minimum of 4.5 foot width, the walk surface widening to fit the new curb line, work to be done by a contractor, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 20. (At Request of Mrs. Charles H. Fitzgerald, 55 Essex Street and Others). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate a sum of money for construction of sidewalks and curbing in the sidewalk building program to include that portion of Essex Street ex- tending from Middle Street to Spring Street; said money to be under the jurisdiction of the Board of Selectmen, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 21. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1500.00, for stream clear- ance and diking in the vicinity of the Fitzgerald Mill End Shop at 1256 Washington Street. The following items should be done. (1) to straight- en elbow in streams at point about 30' North of Culvert at Route No. 3 so that the stream will be a straight line from the culvert at Route No. 3. At present the stream heads toward the Fitzgerald Mill End Shop. (2) to bank westerly side of stream at least 12" higher than at present in the area of the shop. (3) Clear stream of brush, etc. up to a point 500' in Northerly direction from Route No. 3. Said work to be done in con- junction with the State under Chapter 91 of the General Laws, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 22. (At Request of the Drainage Committee). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, by taxa- tion or otherwise, for drainage purposes (for stream improvement) from Weymouth Back River to Whitmans Pond; consisting of flood-flow con- duit and channel and works at dams as recommended by Metcalf and Eddy, Engineers, in report to Weymouth Drainage Committee, dated March 11, 1957.
That the sum of money named shall be made available only if the State, under General Laws, Chapter 91, will pay a sum of money pro- portionate to the cost of construction under the provisions of said chap- ter.

Provided further, that such work shall be done by private contract under the direction of the Board of Selectmen and/or the State De- partment of Public Works.
Also, to see if the Town will assume liability in the manner provided by Section 29 of Chapter 91 of the General Laws, as amended by Chapter 516 and 524, Acts of 1950, for all damages that may be incurred by work to be performed by the Department of Public Works of Massachusetts for the improvement, development, maintenance and protection of tidal and n n-tidal rivers and streams, harbors, tidewaters, foreshores and shores along a public beach outside of Boston Harbor, including the Mer- rimack and Connecticut Rivers, in accordance with Section 11 of Chap- ter 91 of the General Laws, and authorize the Selectmen to execute and deliver a bond of indemnity therefor to the Commonwealth; or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 23. (At Request of Sewer Commissioners). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the con- struction of particular sewers and determine whether the money shall be provided for by taxation, by appropriation from available funds in- cluding sewer assessment funds, and by borrowing under authority of Chapter 44 of the General Laws, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 24. (At Request of Sewer Commissioners). To see if the Town will vcte to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the con- struction of common sewers and determine whether the monsy shall be provided for by taxation, by appropriation from available funds including sewer assessments funds, and by borrowing under authority of Chapter 44 of the General Laws, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 25. (At Request of School Committee). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation or otherwise, and appropriate, for the purpose of replacing the cornice and gutters of the original high school building erected in 1898, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 26. (At Request of Board of Water Commissioners). To see if the Town will vote to transfer to the authority and supervision of the Board of Water Commissioners or the Commissioners of Public Works, to be used for water supply purposes, a portion of Lot 21, Sheet 5, Great Hill Park, bounded on the North by a roadway, on the East by Bradley Road, on the South by a stone wall and on the West by a stone wall, containing approximately 46,000 square feet or take any other ac- tion in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 27. (At Request of Board of Water Commissioners). To see if the Town will vote that the Moderator appoint a committee con- sisting of the Senator and the Representatives from this district to in- troduce legislation in the General Court, authorizing the Town of Wey- mouth to transfer to the authority and supervision of the Board of Water Commissioners or Commissioners of Public Works, to be used for water supply purposes, a portion of the great H ll Park and more fully described in Article 26 or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 28. (At Request of Board of Water Commissioners). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to take from surplus funds of the Water Department or otherwise and appropriate for the develop- ment of additional emergency well fields, including we'ls, pipes, pump- ing station and new pumping station equipment or take any other ac- tion in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 29. (At Request of the Re-Zoning Committee). To see if the Town will vote to amend its Zoning Laws and Zoning Map, Ar- ticle X of the Town By-Laws, by making the following changes:

ARTICLE 30. (At Request of the Re-Zoning Committee). To see if the Town will vote to amend its Zoning Laws and Zoning Map, Ar- ticle X of the Town By-Laws, by making the following changes:

From Residential to Limited Business, land shown on the Weymouth Town Atlas as revised to January 1, 1957 or take any other action in relation thereto, more particularly,
(Areas on both sides of Main Street, from the business area at Derby Street to the limited business and business areas South to the present limited business areas at the Old Colony Railroad; and from the present business at Derby Street, North to the limited business area at the junc- tion of Main and Pond Streets.
ARTICLE 31. (On Petition and by Direction of Selectmen). To see what action the Town will take to rezone that portion of Broad Street between Lincoln Square and Vine Street from Residential to Business.
