Pursuant to a Warrant duly issued, the Annual Town Meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Weymouth, represented by their duly elected and qualified Town Meeting Members, was held in the auditorium of the Weymouth High School on Monday, March 3, 1958.


The Meeting was called to order at 7:45 o'clock in the evening by the Annual Moderator, Mr. Daniel L. O'Donnell.


The Town Clerk, Mr. Harry Christensen, read the Call of the Meeting.

UNANIMOUSLY VOTED: That the reading of the Articles in the Warrant be suspended.


Prayer for Divine Guidance at this Annual Town Meeting was offered by the Rev. Frank Gulinello, Pastor of the First Methodist Church, East Weymouth.


The Moderator recognized the presence of a group of students from Woburn High School who were present as part of the Student Govern- ment Exchange Program.


The Moderator announced that the Junior Chamber of Commerce would sponsor a Candidates Night at the Central Junior High School on March 4 at 8:00 P.M.


There were no Town Meeting Members to be administered the oath by the Moderator.


The Mcderator declared a quorum present.


Upon request by the Appropriation Committee for unanimous consent to consider Article 38 at this time, and there be'ng no objection, the Moderator ruled that Article 38 would be considered at this time.


ARTICLE 38. (At Request of the Personnel Board). To see if the Town will vote to amend Article 4, Section 409 of the Town By-Laws, by accepting changes in the classification and pay plan; or take any other action in relation thereto.

ITEM 23. For the Board of Health $59,365.00


The salaries of the Board of Health are hereby fixed at $350.00 for each of the three members of the Board.


Of the total sum, not exceeding $2,700.00 shall be for miscellaneous expenses and $3,025.50 for clerical services;


For dairy and food inspections, posting contagious disease cases, and investigations of nuisances and menaces harmful to health, a sum not exceeding $5,525.50 shall be for the personal services and transportation of the Health Agent, who shall not be a member of the Board;


For payments as required for Tuberculosis cases, as sum of $7,000.00;


For quarantine and contagious disease cases, a sum not exceeding $3,000.00;


For Bacteria examinations and Health Tests, a sum not exceeding $850.00 and a member of the Board of Health may be appointed to do this work at this salary.


For the maintenance of town dumps, a sum not exceeding $5,261.50 pro- vided that not exceeding $4,261.50 shall be for personal services;


For the services of a Dental Assistant, a sum not exceeding $2,590.00 including transportation expense;


For dentists, dental supplies and transportation, a sum not exceeding $3,200.00;


For a public nurse, a sum not exceeding $4,495.00 which includes trans- portation expense;


For plumbing inspection the sum of $5,525.50 including transportation expense ;


For Premature Infant Cases, a sum not exceeding $3,000.00.


For Polio Vaccine Clinic, a sum not exceeding $5,000.00.


Not more than $300.00 may be used for travel outside the Common- wealth in accordance with Section 5, Chapter 40, Clause 34, of the Gen- eral Laws.


And for burying animals, a sum not exceeding $1,200.00 which includes transportation expense.

UNANIMOUSLY VOTED


At the adjourned Annual Town Meeting held on March 5, 19 8 the Appropriation Committee requested unanimous consent for reconsideration of Item 23 of Article 1. There being no objection the Moderator ruled that Item 23 of Article 1 would be reconsidered.


MOVED by the Appropriation Committee to amend its original mo- tion as follows:


For dentists, dental supplies and transportation, a sum not exceeding $4,000.00.

For plumbing inspection the sum of $5,667.00 including transportation expense and a vacation substitute.
