MINARD (MINOR, MINER).


THOMAS, the Puritan founder of the name in New Eng., was in Hing. as early as 1636, and had that year a grant of land near the Training Field at Hing. Centre. He remained here but a few yrs., however, and in 1645 joined a company in settling at Pequod, now New London, Conn. He d. at Stonington, Conn., 1690. The name of his w. is not given on Hing. rec's, but a Thomas Miner m. at Charlestown, 1634-35, Grace, dau. of Walter Palmer, and he un- doubtedly was the Thomas who early came to Hing.

MOORFIELD.


JAMES, was b. at Boston, Sept. 28, 1780. His w., who was Nancy Eaton, was b. at Boston, Oct. 12, 1782, and d. at Roxbury, 8 May, 1857, æt. 75 yrs. He d. in Hing. 8 Oct. 1835, æt. 55 yrs. During the summer of 1819 he was in command of the "Eagle," the first steamboat engaged in the conveyance of passengers between Boston and Hing.
