Oliver and Dolly lived in Stratton, Vt., and Chesterfield, N. H., and it was at the former place their three children were born. After the untimely death of Dolly, Oliver may have lived awhile in Brattleboro, Vt., or vicinity before he went to Delaware Co., N. Y., where according to tradition he was at one time a gatekeeper at a toll bridge over the Delaware. He married (2d) a widow, Lucy by name (no issue) who surviving Oliver lived with a son by her former husband.


Oliver and Lucy moved from Delaware Co., to Jefferson Co., N. Y., and he died at " eleven o'clock the morning of April 30, 1835, at Henderson," Jefferson Co., N. Y., where his remains were buried. Children of Oliver and Dolly (Trowbridge) Morsman were:

Y., Sept. 20, 1807, Abigail Phillips, daughter of Joshua and Dorcas (Cook) Phillips by whom he had two children. Joshua Phillips was an American by birth and Scotch-Irish by descent. Abigail Phillips was born April, 1785, and died May 10, 1830. Martin-Trowbridge married (2ª) the widow Conger (no issue) whom he survived. He was a soldier in the war of 1812, and when 86 years old applied for a pension which was allowed: surg. ctf. 219618. He d. ae. 94 at Sacketts Harbor, Jefferson Co., N. Y., April 17,

4. MORSMAN Dr. Moses-Jenry6 (Martin-Trowbridge5, Oliver4, Timothy3, Timothy2, James1), son of Martin-Trowbridge5 and Abigail (Phillips) Morsman, was born at Henderson, Jefferson Co., N. Y., May 20, 1812; received his M.D. from the Uni- versity of New York, April 14, 1835. In 1835 he went to Ohio and at Castalia, Margaretta Township, Erie Co., married Mary Margaret Hubbard, May 22, 1836, she, the daughter of Elisha-Andrews and Amanda (Falley) Hubbard, was born June 2, 1819 at Fulton, Oswego Co., N. Y., and died at Iowa City, Iowa, June 4, 1880, to which place the Doctor had moved his family in 1846. She was a descendant of George Hubbard, b. England 1594, Lieut. Richard Falley 1740, famous in the old French and Indian War and also in the later Revolutionary struggle, et al. The Doctor was prominent in the community in which he lived, was mayor of the city, bank president and in every way a useful and influential citizen. He died in Iowa City, Sept. 12, 1898. The children of Dr. Moses-Jenry and Mary Margaret (Hubbard) Mors- man were:

MOSMAN Timothy3 (Timothy2, James1), son of Timothy2 and Sarah (Hicks) Mosman, born in Sudbury, Mass., in 1709 or 1710. He married Feb. 26, 1734-5, Martha Ann, daughter of William and Martha (Peirce) Whitney, born in Weston, April 4, 1716. They lived in Sudbury a few years, but re- moved to Dorchester, Canada (Ashburnham) and settled on a grant of land made to his grandfather Hicks, and built a house of entertainment on this land. About 1744, the settlement was abandoned through fear of the Indians. Timothy remained after the other families were removed to places of safety, and was directed to take care of the meeting house, and board up the windows, and doors. In August of that year he sold his tavern property, and was one of the last to desert the settlement. He returned to Sudbury, but about 1760, settled in Princeton on the "Plaisted Farm " so-called, near the village of East Princeton, where he engaged in the manufacture of potash. He subsequently removed to West- minster, where he died Sept. 2, 1801, ae. 91, and she April 15, the same year, ae. 85. Their children were:

MUNROE.


The immigrant ancestor of this family, WILLIAM1 MUNROE of Dundee, Scotland, came to Boston on the ship Lion in 1629. William Munroe2, son of the former, settled in Cambridge, Mass. William Munroe3 settled in Bristol, R. I., in 1685. Nathaniel Munroe4, son of William Munroe3, was born in Bristol, R. I., in 1712. In 1757 he was appointed Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Providence Plantation. In 1768 he resigned and moved to Rutland, Mass., where he died in 1794.


MUNROE Lieut. Timothy5 ( Nathaniel4, William3, William2, William1), son of Nathaniel4, was born in Bristol, R. I., in 1747; married Apr. 12, 1781, Lucretia Gates. He enlisted as a private in the war of the Revolution. In 1779 was made 2nd Lieut. of the 7th Mass. Reg. He removed to Princeton, Mass., in 1805, where he died Feb. 7, 1836, ae. 89. His widow died July 26 the same year. Their children were:

PETER1 MURDOCK, the immigrant ancestor of this family, was of Protestant Scotch-Irish descent, born in Limerick, Ireland in 1679, son of John Murdock a wool comber of Limerick, and Mary (Munson) Murdock. Peter Murdock came to America about 1700, married Mary Fithen of East Hampton, Long Island and died 1753. His son John2, married (Is) Phebe Sill. By his second wife Frances Conklin he had a son Abraham3, who married Hannah Lay.

He was born in Marlboro, May 17, 1736, married Feby. 10, 1761, Hannah Eager. Their son Jonathan was born in Marl- boro, April 27, 1761. His wife Hannah, died July 2, 1782 and he married (2ª) April 27, 1783, Joanna Gibbs, widow of William Gibbs, who died June 28, 1830, ae. 90. He died probably early in 1805, as his will was filed May 23d of that year. Chil- dren born in Princeton were:

NORCROSS.


The immigrant ancestor of the family of this name in Prince- ton, JEREMIAH1, was the son of Thomas Norcross, a merchant of London, who died in 1603, leaving three sons, John, Jeremiah and Thomas.


John and Jeremiah1, came to New England, in 1638, Jerimiah1 settled in Watertown, but returned to England, in 1651, and there died, in 1657. His wife was Adrean Smith, and his chil- dren; Nathaniel, a graduate of Cambridge, England, d. in England 1662, and Sarah, who married Francis Massey; Richard2, who was born in 1621, married June 24, 1650, Mary Brooks, and died 1709, ae. 88. He was forty-nine years a schoolmaster at Watertown, of his seven children Richard3, born Aug. 4, 1660 of Weston, married Aug. 10, 1686, Rose Woodward, and (2ª) Aug. 6, 1695, Hannah Sanders. He died in 1745, having eleven children, of whom Joseph4 was the sixth.


NORCROSS Joseph4 (Richard3, Richard2, Jeremiah1), son of Richard3 and Hannah (Sanders) Norcross, born July 1, 1701, in Weston, married Hannah Shepherd of Newton. He died March 27, 1789, in Princeton. Their children were:

iii. NOAH, b. Jany. 8, 1736, m. April 1, 1762 in Weston, Ruth Upham dau. of Dea. Thomas Upham. He was in the service at Crown Point 1755, rendered other service in 1760. He lived on what is now the J. C. Harrington place and was accidentally killed, April 1771 by the falling of a tree. His widow married Josiah Mirick, they lived on the same farm, and here Mr. Mirick was killed, also accidentally, by the kick of a horse. Children: (I) EPHRAIM b. 1763, enlisted in Rev. Service, 1780 for three years, d. April 18, 178I, (II) NOAH, b. Dec. 5, 1770, m. (Ist) Fanny Rollins (2ª) Prudence Gale, 8 children, d. in Alabama, about 1820, (III) RUTH, b. 1771, m. 1787, and (IV) JOSIAH CUTTING.


iv. JOSEPH, b. May 10, 1737, was in military life 1758-60 and in the Revolutionary War, lived in Hopkinton awhile and died un- married over 70 years of age.


v. ISAAC, b. May 23, 1739, m. Lydia Shepard of Newton, July 25, 1765. He was in military service 1756-60 and in the Revolu- tionary War, from Princeton 1778, d. in Royalston, May 2, 1817. Children: (I) ISAAC, (II) NANCY, m. Calvin Clark, res. Holland Purchase, N. Y., (III) HANNAH, m. Smith Holman and (IV) JOSEPH, res. Winchendon.


vi. MEHITABLE, b. June 29, 1741, d. Dec. 9, 1743.


vii. SAMUEL, b. Nov. 12, 1745, m. Rachel dau. of Dr. Zachariah and Ame Harvey, in Lancaster, Mass., May 2, 1766, she d. Sept. 28, 18II, ae. 62. He was in Revolutionary Service, rem. to West- minster in 1768 and afterwards to Marlboro, N. H., where he died March 16, 1812. Their children were: (I) CANDACE, b. Dec. 4, 1766, d. ing the name of Norcross. Jacob5, is said to have lived on his father's place, on the Valley road in a brick house, he was a very large and strong man, "was a drummer at the time of the Lexington Alarm, and in the Service in 1778." The children of Jacob and Isabel were:

NORCROSS Josiah, son of Josiah, and Elizabeth (Child) Nor- cross, of Watertown, born April 22, 1777, res. Shrewsbury, married (Ist) Elizabeth Corkham, and (2ª) Jany. 7, 1809, Sarah Rand of Princeton, daughter of Thomas, and Elizabeth of Westminster, she died March 25, 1825, ae. 34. He married (3ª) Elizabeth Stone of Shrewsbury, and died Dec. 23, 1863, he had eight children, among them FANNY, who married Simeon Allen of Princeton.

NOURSE Joseph3 (Joseph2, Daniel1), son of Joseph2 and Han- nah (Davis) Nourse, born in Shrewsbury, Jany. 9, 1797, married April 14, 1823, Elizabeth Fiske of Worcester, daugh- ter of Samuel and Priscilla, she died Feb. 2, 1841, ae. 47, in Hubbardston. He died Aug. 27, 1834. Their children were:


i. LUCY, b. Feb. 12, 1824, m. May 11, 1843, Albert Bennett of Hub- bardston.


ii. EMELINE-E., b. Sept. 26, 1825, m. June 185(2), Edward Knight. He d. Sept. 23, 1861, and she m. (2d) William Edwards and d. in Clinton, April 6, 1883.
