FAY.

The immigrant ancestor of the families of this name in Prince- ton is supposed to be DAVID1 of Marlboro. It appears that his son John Fay2 when eight years of age, with two other boys, Thomas Barnes and Shadrach Hapgood, sailed on ship Speed- well, May 30, 1656, from Gravesend, arriving at Boston in June. They settled in Sudbury, Mass., where they had friends and relatives. It is probable that his father and other members of his family had already come to America. John served in the King Phillips War, lived in Marlboro and Watertown, and re- turned to Marlboro where he died Dec. 5, 1690. Gershom3
