EVERETT.
The progenitor of the families of this name in Princeton was RICHARD1 EVERETT, who came to New England, locating at Dedham, in 1636. He was one of the founders of that town, and died there July 3, 1682. He was undoubtedly of English birth and descent, although there is no record of his arrival, or to show from what part of England he came. By his wife, Mary he had II children, John2 who married Elizabeth Pepper, had 7 children among them John3 and Richard3. John3 was born in Dedham June 9, 1676, and married Mary Browne, by whom Edward4 was born Oct. 18, 1714. Edward4 married Mary Allen and they were the parents of David5, and Mercy who married Ebenezer Colburn. Hon. Edward Everett the statesman was not of this branch of the family as has often been erroneously stated.
EVERETT David5 (Edward4, John3, John2, Richard1), son of Edward4 and Mary (Allen) Everett, born April 16, 1745 in Dedham, married Oct. 29, 1767, Susanna Rolfe, daughter of Stephen Rolfe born Feb. 22, 1743, at Mendon. He served as a private in Capt. Jonathan Holman's company, Col. Ephraim Doolittle's regiment, engaged in the battle of Bunker Hill.
