He was author of a History of Princeton, published in 1838. He died in Cambridge, Mass., Jany. 16, 1896. His widow died Oct. 7, 1897. Their children were:

SAVAGE.


The immigrant ancestor of this family EDWARD1 SAVAGE was of Huguenot parentage. Edward and his twin brothers, John and Abraham, were the children of Abraham Savage, a French Huguenot, a native of France who was driven from thence and took refuge in Ireland, where he died. His widow became the second wife of Arthur Hamilton, whose first wife had died, leaving three daughters, Eleanor, Betsey and Martha Hamilton. They with the six children, emigrated to Massachusetts in 1717, settling in Rutland. In 1728 Edward Savage and wife Mary united with the church in Rutland.


SAVAGE Edward3 " the portrait painter," son of Seth and Lydia (Craige) Savage and grandson of Edward1 of Rutland, born Nov. 26, 1761, married Oct. 13, 1794, Sarah Seaver, born Sept. 8, 1765, died Jany. 27, 1861 in Lancaster, Mass. He died in Princeton, July 6, 1817. Children:

He married Abigail Manning, and had Thomas2, born Sept. 27, 1657, who with his wife Deborah (Rice) Sawin, lived in Sherborn. Their son John3, born in 1689, by wife - Lyons, had in Natick, John4, born 1721, who married Abigail Babcock, and probably came to Princeton, in 1771.


SAWIN Ezekiel5 (John4, John3, Thomas2, John1), son of John4 and Abigail (Babcock) Sawin of Natick, born 1752, married in Needham, Mary Parker of Newton, July 16, 1778, and came to Princeton, to live. He was in the Revolutionary Army, and at Bunker Hill; was an active member of the Baptist denomination. He died July 21, 1817, and she July 25, 1833. Their children were:

THOMAS1 SKINNER who was born in Chichester, England, in 1617, came to Malden about 1650 with his wife Mary and two sons, Thomas2 and Abraham. Thomas2 married Mary Pratt. They had eight children. Thomas3 and John3 removed to Norton in 1695. Thomas became the first Schoolmaster of that town. John3 married Sarah - -, their son Ezra4, born April 26, 1703, married Elizabeth Swain, June, 1724. Their son Ezra5, born Feb., 1730, married Mary Hewit of Taunton, Oct. 17, 1764.

JAMES1 the progenitor of one family of this name in Princeton came from Ireland to Rutland, about 1720. His wife's name was Margaret. They had a son George2, called Lieut., whose wife was Jane Macclenan. They had Isaac, Hugh, Mary, Agnes, George, Elizabeth, John and Andrew in Rutland. The ancestry of the other families here recorded is untraced.

Co., Mass., Jany. 8, 1802, educated at Berkshire Medical School. In 1825 he was a physician in West Boylston, and for ten years practiced medicine in Princeton. He lived in the Dr. Bagg house, now the Grimes house, before Dr. Partridge. From 1836 until his death, June 28, 1843, he lived in Wor- cester and for four years of the time was town physician. He married (Ist) in Princeton, Oct. 18, 1829, Asenath K. Babcock, who died Nov. 22, 1835. He married (2ª) Dec. 16, 1836, Harriet Bullard of Princeton.
