ANNUAL TOWN MEETING


Monday, January 17, 1949, adjourned to March 31, 1949


On a warrant duly issued by the Selectmen under the date of January 4, 1949, and signed by Sture Nelson, Clement A. Riley, George C. O'Brien and W. J. Dempsey, Selectmen of Norwood, the meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Francis C. Foley. The proper service of this warrant was duly attested by James E. Quinn, Constable of Norwood.


All the requirements of the statutes and by-laws relating to elections and town meetings were complied with. The articles contained in the war- rant, and the action thereunder is as follows:


ARTICLE 1. To choose all necessary Town Officers. The following arc to be chosen by ballot, namely: One Selectman for three years; one Town Treasurer and Collector of Taxes for one year; one Moderator for one year; one member of the Board of Health for three years; one member of the Town Planning Board for three years; one Finance Commissioner for three years; two members of the School Committee for three years; two Trustecs of the Morrill Memorial Library for three years; four members of Norwood Housing Authority; six Constables for one year.


One Selectman for Three Years.


Charles L. Rich had thirty-five hundred and eighty-eight (3588) votes. Elected and sworn by Town Clerk and Accountant. Clement A. Riley had twenty-one hundred and forty-two (2142) votes. Blanks, fifty-five (55).


One Town Treasurer and Collector of Taxes for One Year.


Edmund F. Sullivan had forty-seven hundred and forty-six (4746) votes. Elected and sworn by Town Clerk and Accountant.


Scattering, one (1).


Blanks, ten hundred and thirty-eight (1038).


One Moderator for One Ycar.


Francis C. Foley had forty-six hundred and twenty- eight (4628) votes. Elected and sworn by Town Clerk and Accountant. Blanks, eleven hundred and fifty-seven (1157).


One Member of the Board of Health for Three Years.


James F. Foley had twenty-eight hundred and fifty-nine (2859) votes. Elected and sworn by Town Clerk and Accountant.


Edward V. Paduck had twenty-one hundred and eighty-two (2182) votes. Scattering, one (1) Blanks, seven hundred and forty-three (743).

One Finance Commissioner for Three Years.

Two Members of the School Committee for Three Years.


John J. Cavanaugh had twenty-five hundred and ninety-three (2593) votes. Elected and sworn by Town Clerk and Accountant. Alexander Macintyre had sixteen hundred and fifty (1650) votes. Anthony F. O'Donnell had twenty-four hundred and forty-three (2443) votes. Edward H. Thompson had three thousand and two (3002) votes. Elected and sworn by Town Clerk and Accountant. Scattering, five (5).
