ANNUAL TOWN ELECTION Saturday, March 9th, 1940
In accordance with Article 1 of the Warrant the Meeting was called to order by the Moderator, the ballot box was inspected, the following Ballot Clerks were duly sworn : Willis N. Cousins, Bertha V. Bowles, D. Everett Sherman, Jr., Raymond E. Hagerty, Helena A. Dee and Allan R. Dougherty, and the Polls declared open at 12 o'clock Noon by the Moder- ator. At 1.15 P.M., the Moderator and Town Clerk ordered the counting of ballots. At 7 o'clock P.M. the Polls were declared closed, Manley B. Boyce and James V. Lennon were sworn as Ballot Clerks. Total number of votes cast, 500, resulting as follows:

In the name of the Commonwealth you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of said Town who are qualified to vote in the State Election to meet in the Town Hall, Tuesday the fifth day of November, 1940, at 7 o'clock A.M., for the following purposes: To bring in their votes for the election of the following officers and questions: Presidential Electors, Governor, Lieutenant-Governor, Treasurer, Secre- tary, Auditor, Attorney General, Senator in Congress, Repre- sentative in Congress, Councillor, Senator, Representative in General Court Clerk of Courts, Register of Deeds, County Commissioners (2), County Treasurer (To fill vacancy): Questions: To obtain a full expression of opinion, voters should vote on all three of the following questions: (a) If a voter desires to permit the sale in this Town of any and all alcoholic beverages to be drunk on and off the premises where sold, he will vote "Yes" on all three questions. (b) If he desires to permit the sale herein of wines and malt beverages only to be drunk on and off the premises where sold, he will vote "No" on question 1, "Yes" on question 2 and "No" on ques- tion 3. (c) If he desires to permit the sale herein of all alcoholic beverages but only in packages, so called, not to be drunk on the premises where sold, he will vote "No" on questions 1 and 2, and "Yes" on question 3. (d) If he desires to permit the sale herein of wines and malt beverages to be drunk on and off the premises where sold he will vote "No" on question 1, and "Yes" on questions 2 and 3. (e) If he desires to prohibit the sale herein of any and all alcoholic beverages whether to be drunk on or off the premises where sold, he will vote "No" on all three questions.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING December 23, 1940
WARRANT
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS MIDDLESEX, ss.
To either of the Constables of the Town of Lincoln in said County: GREETING:
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify the legal voters of said Town of Lincoln, qualified to vote in Town Meeting for the transaction of Town affairs, to meet in the Town Hall in said Lincoln, on Monday, the twenty-third day of December next at 7.30 o'clock P.M., then and there to act on the following Article, by posting a copy of this Warrant, by you attested, in each of the Post Offices, and some other public place in said Town seven days at least before the twenty-third day of December next:
Article 1. To see if the Town will vote to accept from Julian DeCordova, Esq., an unconditional gift of twelve thousand dollars.
Hereof fail not and make due return of this Warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk, at or before the time for the meeting aforesaid.
Given under our hands this thirteenth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and forty.

On the reverse of the Warrant is the following:
December 14th, 1940.
I have served this Warrant by posting attested copies in each of the Post Offices, one at the Town Hall, and one at the Railroad Station seven days before date of said meeting.

In accordance with the above Warrant the meeting was called to order at 7.40 P.M., the return of the Warrant was read and on motion duly seconded it was voted to adjourn for a few minutes. At 7.45 P.M., the Meeting re-convened and it was unanimously
Voted: That the gift of $12,000.00 which has been offered to the Town by Mr. Julian DeCordova be accepted, and that the sincere thanks of the Town be extended to him for such substantial evidence of his kind interest in our Town and its affairs.
The Meeting adjourned at 7.50 P.M.
