Report of the Water Commissioners

While conditions in the Water Department are not all that could desired we feel that some improvement has been made during the last year. Frank E. Matthews was appointed sup- erintendent at a salary of sixteen hundred dollars per year, taking office on April 15, and on May 1 we started taking readings from the Venturi meter at the pumping station, showing the amount of water pumped in each month as follows :

May 7,541,600 gallons

June

7,721,600 gallons

July .8,289,100 gallons

August

9,816,100 gallons

September 7,072,100 gallons

October

7,445,200 gallons

November

7,721,200 gallons

December

8,023,000 gallons

Total for 8 months 63,629,900 gallons

Unfortunately, quite a number of our service meters were not working so we are not able to give you the amount of water sold during this period but so far as we know every service meter is working at the present time and we hope to have some accurate data for you at the close of next year.

The financial report of the department for the year clos- ing December 31, is as follows :

72

June 1, bills rendered to Collector. $1341 64

Dec. 1, bills rendered to Collector 1324 14
