Town Warrant


To either of the Constables of the Town of Rutland. in the County of Worcester.


Worcester. ss.


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are directed to noify the inhabitants of the Town of Rutland, qualified to vote in elections and in Town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall, in said Rutland, on the Seventh day of February next, at Nine o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to act on the following articles :


Article 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.


Article 2. To hear the annual reports of the town officers and committees and act thereon.


Article 3. To bring in and deposit their ballots for one Selectman for three years, for one Assessor for three years, for one Overseer of the Poor for three years, for a Treasurer for one year, for a Collector of Taxes for one year, for one Water Commissioner for three years, for one Member of the School Committee for three years, for one Library Trustee for three years, for an Auditor for one year, for a Tree Warden for one year, for one Park Commissioner for three years, for five Constables for one year.


All the above to be voted for on one ballot, specifying the person voted for by placing a cross (X) after the name.

The polls will open at 10 o'clock A. M. and may be closed at 2 P. M.


Atricle 4. To choose all necessary town officers and committees.


Article 5. To see if the town will authorize the Treas- urer to borrow money for the use of the town in anticipation of revenue, under the approval of the Selectmen.


Article 6. To determine how much money the town will raise and appropriate for General Government; 2, for Protection of Persons and Property ; 3, for Highways; 4, for Health and Sanitation; 5, for Charities and Soldiers' Benefits; 6. Education ; 7, for Recreation and Unclassified ; 8, for Public Service Enterprises; 9, for Interest and Maturing Debts.


Article 7. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to assist in defraying the expense of a band for open air concerts during the summer, or take any action thereon.


Article 8. To see if the town will raise and appropriate a sum of money to be used with money to be Allotted by the State and County for permanent improvement of the East County Road and Maple Avenue, or take any action thereon.


Article 9. To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of Three Hundred and Fifty dollars ($350.00) for repairs and improvement of conditions at the North Rutland School or take any action thereon.


Article 10. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to improve Muschopauge Road or take any action thereon.

Atricle 11. To see if the town will vote to have street lights installed on Central Tree Road or take any action thereon.


Article 12. To see if the town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money to purchase a piano for the Town Hall or take any action thereon.


Article 13. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to repair the town scales or take any action thereon.


Article 14. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Assessors to use all unappropriated money coming into the treasury for the purpose of reducing the Tax Rate.


Article 15. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to purchase a town clock or take any action thereon.


Article 16. To see if the town will vote to purchase a stone crusher and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the same, or take any action thereon.


Article 17. To see if the town will authorize the treas- urer under the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow a sum of money for the purpose of purchasing a stone crusher.


Article 18. To see if the town will vote to extend the street lights on Main Street to the Rufus Putnam Memorial, or take any action thereon.


Article 19. To see if the town will vote to elect its Moderator for a term of one year.

Article 20. To see if the town will authorize the Treas- urer, under the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow a sum of money for the purpose of making permanent improvement on Maple Avenue.


And you are directed to serve this warrant, by posting up attested copies thereof agreeable to vote of the Town. One at each post office, one at store at North Rutland and one at the public building in said Town, seven days at least before the time of holding said meeting.


Hereof, fail not and make due return of this Warrant, with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk at the time and place of meeting aforesaid.
