Report of the Selectmen

The Report of the Selectmen for the year ending Dec. 31, 1931 is herewith submitted :

In March there was a State Audit of the accounts of the various departments of the town, the Report of the result of this Audit will be found elsewhere in this book.

During the progress of the Audit it was recommended by the Dept. of Taxation that the town adopt the town accounting system. At a special town meeting the town voted to adopt the system which was installed by the State Auditors im- mediately.

Your board of Selectmen believe this is a step of progress in handling the town accounts and will be the means of saving many dollars of the tax-payers money in future years.

The Board appointed Albert J. Thomas as Town Account- ant and we believe the town is very fortunate to be able to secure the services of so able a man to fill this position.

We wish to express our appreciation for the co-operation we have received from the various town officers in endeavoring to keep the expenditures within the appropriations of their departments.

The analysis of expenditures will be found on the pages immediately following.
