Containing about 3.2 acres be the same or any of the aforesaid measure- ments more or less, and all as shown on the plan entitled "Plan of Land in (East) Weymouth, Mass.", made by Russell H. Whiting, Town Engineer, dated February 12, 1955, and made a part of this description and record.


Above described land is to be conveyed to the authority and super- vision of the School Committee and it is hereby and herein understood and agreed that the entire area of lot B shall constitute a joint right of way for both the School authorities and the Park authorities and also that the Park authorities shall be herein granted a right of way 20.00 feet in width across the land herein conveyed for access to the remaining playground land.


The presence of a quorum being questioned by Mr. Christensen, Town Clerk, tellers were appointed and sworn in as follows:

A count was taken and the tellers reported 143 Town Meeting Mem- bers present at this time. The Chair then stated that 143 being present, 129 being necessary for a quorum, a quorum is present.


The Moderator further stated, "The Chair would like to congratulate the Town Meeting Members for the attendance at the various Special Town Meetings. It is a duty and an honor, and the Chair is gratified as there has been quite a change in the matter of the past five years in this regard."


ARTICLE 2. (At the request of the East Weymouth School Building Committtee). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation or otherwise, and appropriate, for the purpose of constructing and originally equipping and furnishing an elementary school on the por- tion of the East Weymouth Playground set aside for school purposes, or take any other action in relation thereto.


Upon motion duly made by the Appropriation Committee, it was UNANIMOUSLY VOTED: That the sum of $520,000.00 be raised and appropriated for the purpose of constructing and originally equipping and furnishing an elementary school on the portion of land of the East Weymouth playground set aside for school purposes, for the develop- ment of the site; and to meet appropriation $40,000.00 shall be appro- priated from the Excess and Deficiency Account and the Treasurer, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen, be and is hereby authorized to borrow the sum of $480,000.00 under authorization of Section 7, Clause 3, Chapter 44 of the General Laws as amended. Said total of bonds to be payable in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 44 of the General Laws so that the whole loan shall be payable in not more than 20 years The sums appropriated shall be expended under the direction of the committee of seven appointed in accordance with Article 37 in the warrant $40,000.00 for the Annual Town meeting of March 7, 1955. $480,000.00


ARTICLE 3. (At the request of the Building Committee.) To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation, or otherwise, and appropriate for the purpose of acquiring by gift, purchase, or eminent domain in fee part of Lot 5, Block 253, containing about 1700 sq. ft., as appears on Sheet 23 of the Atlas of the Town of Weymouth for the year 1954, for the purpose of widening the entrance to the school site reserved from the northwest portion of the East Weymouth Playground, or take any other action in relation thereto.


Upon motion duly made by the Appropriation Committee, it was UNANIMOUSLY VOTED: That the Town acquire by gift, purchase, or take by right of eminent domain, in fee, for the purpose of widening the entrance to the school site reserved from the northwest portion of the East Weymouth playground, part of Lot 5, Block 253, containing approximately 1700 square feet as appears on Sheet 23 of the Atlas of the Town of Weymouth for the year 1954. The Board of Selectmen are hereby authorized to acquire by gift, purchase or take by right of eminent domain said land, and the sum of $150.00 is appropriated from the Excess and Deficiency Account for this purpose. $150.00


Description of land to be acquired by the Town of Weymouth from Tristano T. Mariano and Jessie P. Mariano, joint tenants :


A certain parcel of land situated in that part of said Weymouth known as East Weymouth, being a part of lot 5 in block 253 on sheet

23 of the Assessors plans of the Town of Weymouth revised to January 1, 1954, bounded and described as follows :-


Beginning at a point on the northeasterly side line of Commercial Street at the division line between land of the said Town of Weymouth and land of the said Tristano T. Mariano and Jessie P. Mariano, joint tenants; thence running northeasterly by said division line, a distance of about 135.30 feet to a stone monument and other land of the said Town of Weymouth shown as lot 8 in said block 253 on said sheet 23 of the Assessors plans of the Town of Weymouth; thence turning and running southeasterly by said other land of the Town of Weymouth, a distance of 20.00 feet to other land of the said Tristano T. Mariano and Jessie P. Mariano, being the southeasterly part of said lot 5; thence turning and running southwesterly by said other land of Tristano T. Mariano and Jessie P. Mariano, a distance of about 136.00 feet to said side line of Commercial Street; thence turning and running northwesterly by said side line of Commercial Street a distance of 5.00 feet to the point of beginning; containing about 1700 square feet.


The above described premises are shown as Parcel A on a plan entitled "Plan of Land in (East) Weymouth, Mass.", made by Russell H Whiting, Registered Professional Engineer, dated Jan. 10, 1956, recorded herewith and made a part of this description and location.


ARTICLE 4. (At request of the Park Department.) To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation, or otherwise, the sum of $6000.00, for the purpose of reconstructing the tennis courts and play apparatus at the East Weymouth School Building site on Lovell Park, from School Department land to Park Department, work to be done under the direction of the Park Department, or take any other action in relation thereto.


Upon motion duly made by the Appropriation Committee, it was


UNANIMOUSLY VOTED: That the sum of $6,000.00 be appropriated from the Excess and Deficiency Account for the purpose of reconstruct- ing the tennis courts and play apparatus at the East Weymouth school building site on Lovell Park from School Department land to Park De- partment land. Said sum to be expended under the direction of the Park Commissioners. $6,000.00

ANNUAL VOTES


ARTICLE 2. (By Direction of Selectmen). To take any action the Town may desire upon the reports of the several Town Boards and Com- mittees and to appoint or change any Committee that the Town may think proper.


ARTICLE 3. (By Direction of the Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen. on and after January 1, 1957, to borrow in anticipation of the revenue of the year 1957.


ARTICLE 4. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote from surplus for the use of the Assessors in determining the tax rate for the year 1956, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 5. (By Direction of Selectmen). That the Selectmen be authorized to sell or otherwise dispose of personal property and any real estate of which the Town has possession or title, including all property taken for non-payment of taxes, all such cases of sale to be made by public auction or private sale as the Selectmen may deem for the best interest of the Town, and that the Board or Officer in charge of any other Town Department may, with the approval of the Board of Select- men, sell at public auction or private sale, as the Board of Selectmen may approve, any personal property belonging to said Department which in the opinion of the Officer or Board in charge of the Department is no longer needed by the Town and which in the opinion of the Selectmen is not needed by any other Department, provided that in each case in- volving real estate, majorities of the Planning Board, Sewer Commission- ers and Park Commissioners respectively vote to concur in the opinion that the property will not be needed for parks, playgrounds or other public use.


ARTICLE 6. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Board of Selectmen to accept conveyances or mort- gages of any real or personal property belonging to persons receiving relief from the Town, and dispose of said property in the manner they may judge for the Town's best interest, and to authorize them to discharge any encumbrances on said property if they consider it for the best interest of the Town so to do and to see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the discharging of such encum- brances.

or otherwise for all purposes of a public street and highway in and over each of said streets as laid out and accepted, and see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the working of each of the above-named streets, including the acquisition of the fee above re- ferred to and for the building of any bridges, drains and conduits or securing easements which may be necessary in connection therewith, and to see whether the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to accept deeds of any reservation strips existing in connection with any of said streets, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 8. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to reconstruct, resur- face, widen, straighten, relocate or work Commercial Street, Middle Street, Pleasant Street and/or any other streets or any portion of said ways and for the building of any bridges, drains and conduits, or securing ease- ments which may be necessary in connection therewith, and to see whether the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to accept deeds of any reservation strips existing in connection with said streets, provided the state, or county, or both will appropriate a sum of money to help defray the expenses of such work; and transfer from the surplus funds that the Town may have, the county and state share of said cost, the amount of this transfer or reimbursement to be credited to the account from which it came; and will authorize the Board of Selectmen to ac- quire by gift, purchase or take by right of eminent domain in fee or other- wise for all purposes of a public street and highway in and over said street such property as may be necessary or take any other action in relation thereeto.


ARTICLE 9. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise the sum of $980.00 for the resurfacing of Vine Street, from Washington Street to bend, a distance of approximately 600 feet, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 10. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise the sum of $2,000.00 for the resurfacing of Summer Street, from Sherrick's Farm to Progress Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 11. (On petition of George E. Lane and Others). To see if the Town will raise and appropriate or appropriate the sum of $250,000.00 for reconstruction, rebuilding and or relocation of town streets and roads provided the above sum shall be borrowed under Chapter 44 of the General Lays as amended by Chapter 56 of the Acts of 1952 as part of a 10-year $2,500,000.00 Highway Building Program; provided fur- ther that such work shall be done by private contract under the direction of the Board of Selectmen and or the Department of Public Works if state funds are made available and in accordance with plans and specifi- cations prepared by the Highway Department in co-operation with the State Public Works Department and of the County Commissioners; and provided further that such sums as may be made available by the State or County shall be used for this purpose; or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 12. (On petition and by Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise a sum of money for the rebuilding of Fort Point Road, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 13. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for construction of side-

walks and curbing in the sidewalk building program; said money to be under the jurisdiction of the Board of Selectmen, or take any other ac- tion in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 14. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise the sum of $15,000.00 for the repair of existing sidewalks, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 15. (On petition of Mountain View Manor Association, Inc.). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate by taxation or otherwise for the purpose of continuing the repair of the existing sidewalk on the right hand side of Belmont Street from No. 57 Belmont Street to No. 121 Belmont Street, a distance of approxi- mately 1,125 lineal feet, more or less, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 16. (On Petition of Mountain View Manor Association Inc.). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate by taxation or otherwise for the purpose of repairing the existing sidewalk on the right hand side of Adorn Street from No. 9 Adorn Street to No. 51 Adorn Street, a distance of approximately 570 lineal feet, more or less, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 17. (At Request of Academy Avenue School Parent Teach- ers Association and by Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to provide by appropriation or taxation or otherwise the sum of $2,300.00 for the construction of approximately 900 square yards of side- walk on the northerly side of Academy Avenue from a point opposite the entrance of the Academy Avenue School westerly to Broad Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 18. (On petition of Patricia H. Sheehy, and others and by Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise a sum of money for drainage purposes of Great Hill Drive, from Lindale Avenue to Regatta Road, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 19. (On Petition and by Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise the sum of $1,750.00 for drainage of Willow Avenue and the improvement of Sea Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 20. (On Petition of James G. Cummings and Others). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money for the installation of two catch-basins at the westerly end of Ranger Circle and to connect them with drain pipe to existing catch- basins at the junction of the following streets: Delia Walker Avenue, Ranger Circle, Courier Street and Bald Eagle Road, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 21. (On Petition and by Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise a sum of money to rectify drainage system on Rindge Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 22. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise a sum of money to install drainage system on Saning Road, or take any other action in re- lation thereto.

ARTICLE 23. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation or otherwise a sum of money to improve the drainage condition in the vicinity of 116 Phillips Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 24. (At Request of Pond Plain Improvement Association) To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $4,750.00 to continue pipe drain through present parking area at west side of tracks at South Weymouth depot, fill, penetrate and seal unfinished portion of said parking area, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 25. (At Request of Greenbriar Improvement Association Inc.). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate to regrade Colasanti Road so that it will drain toward existing catchbasins, or take any other action in relation thereto.
