ARTICLE 25. (At Request of Board of Public Works). To see what action the Town will take to acquire by gift, purchase or take by

eminent domain approximately 13 acres of land located near the south- erly end of Whitman's Pond near the entrance to Swamp River, for the purpose of developing an emergency water supply, and to acquire the necessary 50 foot roadway to Pleasant and/or Middle Streets, all as shown on a plan by the Town Engineer entitled "Plan of Land for Well Location for Water Supply" and filed with the Town Clerk, or take any other action in relation thereto.


MOVED by the Appropriation Committee:


That the Town vote to acquire by gift, purchase, or take by Right of Eminent Domain, in fee, together with all rights, therein, approxi- mately 13 acres of land located near the southerly end of Whitman's Pond near the entrance to Swamp River, for the purpose of developing an emergency water supply, and to acquire the necessary 50 foot road- way to Pleasant and/or Middle Streets, all as shown on a plan by the Town Engineer, entitled "Plan of Land for Well Location for Water Supply" and filed with the Town Clerk, and $1.00 shall be appropriated from tax levy for this purpose. $ 1.00

ARTICLE 27. (At Request of Board of Public Works). That the Town vote to raise and appropriate from tax levy, the sum of $9,500.00 for the purpose of bringing up to date a report, with recommendations, and to take the necessary borings for an incinera- tor; said sum to be expended by a Committee consisting of the present Incinerator Committee, increased by the addition of the Superintend- ent of Public Works and one (1) member of the Board of Selectmen, and two citizens of the Town; said Committee to be appointed by the Moderator. $ 9,500.00

To see what action the Town will take to acquire by gift, purchase or take by eminent domain, in fee, under Chapter 79 of the General Laws for the purpose of future Marina development the low water and flat rights of the abutters between mean high tide and mean low tide as indicated on a plan drawn by Frank Lagrotteria, Town Engineer, dated December 28, 1961, Plan 1245B, or take any other action in relation thereto.

To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation, transfer and/or borrowing the sum of $1,500.00 to install on the existing traffic light installation at intersection of Broad and Middle Street, Central Square, a pedestrian actuated push button control for pedestrian lights, said work to be done under the direction of the Board of Selectmen, or take and other action in relation thereto.

It is hereby determined that there is a need for a Redevelopment. Authority in the Town of Weymouth for the purpose of engaging in Urban Renewal and land assembly and redevelopment projects and that it is in the public interest that such Authority be organized in the Town of Weymouth in accordance with the provision of Section 26QQ of Chapter 121 of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachu- setts, as amended, and that such Authority be organized and established and that the Selectmen be and are authorized and directed to take any and all necessary steps required for the appointment of members of said Authority and for the Authority the sum of Five Hundered Dollars ($500.00) is hereby appropriated, said sum to be transferred from the E. & D. fund, or take any other action in relation thereto.

It is hereby determined that there exists in the Town of Wey- mouth the need for an Urban Renewal program or programs therein in accordance with provisions of Section 26XX of Chapter 121, of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as amended.

FRIDAY, MARCH 9, 1962


The Adjourned Annual Town Meeting was called to order at 7:45 o'clock in the evening of Friday, March 9, 1962, by the Annual Modera- tor, Mr. Philip T. Jones.


Prayer for Divine Guidance was offered by Rev. Richard O. Burns, Pastor of the Universalist Church, South Weymouth.


There were no Town Meeting Members to be sworn.


The Moderator ordered a teller count to establish the presence of a quorum. Teller count was made and the tellers reported 134 Town Meeting Members present. The Moderator then declared a quorum present.


We now continue with consideration of the Articles in the Warrant. Upon motion duly made by the Appropriation Committee, it was UNANIMOUSLY VOTED: To take Article 43 from the table.


ARTICLE 43. (By Direction of Board of Selectmen). It is hereby determined that there exists in the Town of Weymouth the need for an Urban Renewal program or programs in accordance with provisions of Section 26XX of Chapter 121, of the General Laws of the Common- wealth of Massachusetts, as amended.


It is hereby determined that there is a need for a Dedevelopment. Authority in the Town of Weymouth for the purpose of engaging in Urban Renewal and land assembly and redevelopment projects and that it is in the public interest that such Authority be organized in the Town of Weymouth in accordance with the provision of Section 26QQ of Chapter 121 of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massa- chusetts, as amended, and that such Authority be organized and estab- lished and that the Selectmen be and are authorized and directed to take any and all necessary steps required for the appointment of mem- bers of said Authority and for the Authority the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) is hereby appropriated, said sum to be transferred from the E. & D. fund, or take any other action in relation thereto.
