WALL AT EAST BURYING GROUND.

At a meeting held in November, 1879, the selectmen were au- thorized to ascertain the expense of building a faced wall at the East Burying Ground. In March, 1880, they reported in favor of building such wall, and recommended that a wall should be built the first year from the receiving tomb east, to the old entrance to the yard, trusting the town would continue the wall the entire front the following year, and asked for an appropriation of $360.00, which was voted. They advertised for proposals, and the work was awarded to George Yapp. Nearly twice the distance anticipated has been laid, being 243 rods, leaving about 12 rods to be built to complete the whole distance.

Cost of building "faced wall" at East Burying Ground has been as follows :

Paid H. D. Pierce, for teaming stone. $100.00

Moses Sweatt and John Eaton, for moving derrick

at Graniteville to load stone 5.25

George Yapp, for laying wall.
