Admiralty, it appears that on or about the fifteenth ult., a certain James Burn did feloniously run away with, and carry off the negro boy aforesaid, and a sloop called the Bumper, Simpson, master, the property of David King and William M'Dowal, of the Island of Antigua :


And whereas, It appears by the deposition of James Kennard, Pilot, taken as aforesaid, that on the 29th of August last, being near Lewistown, in the bay of Delaware, he found the sloop aforesaid at anchor, with the negro boy Jem on Board, (the said Burn having previously quitted the sloop and gone ashore :)


And whereas, It is of the utmost importance that the perpetra- tor of such attrocious crimes be brought to condign punishment ; we have thought fit to offer, and do hereby offer a public reward of one hundred dollars for the said James Burn, to any person who shall apprehend and secure him, to be paid on his conviction for the same : And all Judges, Justices, Sheriffs and Constables, are hereby strictly enjoined and required to make diligent search and enquiry after, and to use their utmost endeavors to apprehend and secure the said James Burn, his aiders, abettors and comforters, and every of them, so that they may be dealt with according to law.


Given in Council, under the hand of the Vice President and the seal of the State, at Philadelphia, this eighth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty- six.

The petition of Joseph Miller of Lancaster county, stating that by neglecting to enter 425 gallons of rum and 50 gallons of wine, in the office of Collector of Excise of Lancaster county, he hath incurred the forfeiture of the same, and is also subjected to the payment of a considerable fine, one-half to the use of the State, and the other half to the said Collector, and praying Council to remit such part of the said fine and forfeiture as belongs to the State, was read ; and an order taken that the fine due to the State be remitted.

The cropping, which is a part of the sentence of the Court against George Davis, upon conviction of horse stealing, in the county of Dauphine, was remitted, upon the petition of the said Davis, and the recommendation of the Justices of the Court of General Quarter Sessions of the Peace of said county.


Ordered, That the Agents for the sale of Confiscated Estates in the county of Northumberland, be directed to proceed to the sale of a tract of land situate in Buffaloe Valley, in the said county, late the estate of Thomas Mackenness, forfeited by his attainder of high treason, to the use of this Commonwealth, the said agents giving due notice of the time and place of sale.

Ordered, That the sale of a lot of ground in the city of Phila- delphia, containing in breadth on the north side of Market or High street, one hundred and thirty-two feet, and in length on the east side of Fourth street from the river Schuylkill, three hundred and six feet, be postponed until the further order of Council, be- ing the same lot which is divided into eight lots, numbered in the general plan as follows, vizt : No. 1932 to 1939, inclusive.

SUPREME EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.


Council having received information of a robbery being com- mitted upon several friendly Indians, at or near Tioga, by a certain John Hogg and some people that were with him, in the month of August last, it was


Ordered, That the sum of twelve pounds specie be put into the hands of Samuel Dale, Esquire, who was instructed to proceed to Tioga, and pay the same to such Indians as have been robbed, to reimburse them for the articles taken from them; and an order was drawn upon the Treasurer accordingly.


Copies of the law for erecting the northern part of the county of Northumberland into a separate county, were delivered to Mr. Dale, with instructions to distribute the same, for the information of people residing within the new county.


The fines imposed upon John Conrad Latour and John Speckert, upon conviction of a cheat, in the county of Philadelphia, were remitted.

Ordered, That the Sheriff of the county of Lancaster be autho- rized and directed to execute a deed or deeds to any person or per- sons the Commissioners aforesaid may sell the said estate to, in the same manner as if sold by himself.


A return of the distance from the Canoe Place, on Susquehanna, to the Kittanning, on the Allegany river, together with the boun- daries of the several districts of James Potter, James Johnston, James Hamilton, George Woods, Junior, and Thomas Brown McLene, as surveyed and laid down by Robert Galbraith, Esquire, in pursuance of an order of Council dated the 8th of April last, was presented to Council .; which being read and considered, an order was taken that the same be confirmed.

William Cook, Esquire, was appointed and commissionated a Justice of the Peace for the district of Point, in the county of Northumberland, upon a return made according to law.


Mr. Cook was also commissionated a Justice of the Court of Common Pleas of the said county.


On motion,


Ordered, That pardons under the Great Seal, issue to Phineas Bond, John Potts, and Michael Connor, severally attainted of high reason.


An order was drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of Doctor John Foulke, for ten pounds, in full of his account for medicines and ittendance upon several deceased natives of China and India, ac- ording to the Comptroller General's report, to be paid according o a resolution of Assembly dated the 5th of November, 1785.
