Chester County December the 12th 1693 The Grand Juery by the King and Queens Authority Presents John Bristow ffor Takeing and new brand marking of A horse that was Brand marked and Eare marked before and Converting him to his owne use Tho : Coeburn fforeman: Witneses they that were Attested who sets theyr names to the presentinent ordered that [they be] summoned to the next Court

Thomas Marcy being Attested: Deposeth that he was the first that brought this horse Downe out of the woods and As he Brought this with other horses he as A came Downe with them he looked to see If he could see any mark that this same horse had and that when he came to the Indian ffields he Did see this horse Did Stumble and being In A sweett Did see that he was marked with F. S and and that the horse had a little Cut of one of his Ears but it was not to be seene but one mite ffeele it plaine


John Shaw being Attested Deposeth that there was a bay stone borse came Downe in thevr neighborhood and that a stayd there a boute a yeare and that was the horse that Richard Tomson Brought to John Bristow and that he was marked with to letters F. S. and that he did see it


Daniell Williamson Being Attested Deposeth that Thomas Marcy enquired of him If he Could tell what marke that horse had and A little time after he the said Deponant went to Darby with one of his owne and that this horse followed him and as he Rid home againe he Did see this horse sweatt and then he could see the two letters FS: Brand marked on the said horse


Thomas Bright being Examined said that John Bristow Desiered him to looke one the horse to see If that he could perseve any mark that a had and he looked up and Downe and felt and that he Did thinke there was part of an S under the B which John Bristow had marked him with


The Petty Juery Brought In theyr verditt which is ve 13th of the first month


Wee off the Petty Juery Doe ffind John Bristow not Guilty : William. Garrett fforeman


The Court Gives Judgment on the verditt and orders that John Bristow be Clered by Proclimation he paving the Charges : which was accordingly don.
