This vessel was constructed for the Hudson River trade in 1849 ; fitted up for California by Thomas Hunt, where she Arrived in the early part of 1851, when, in conjunction with the Confidence, she was refitted as a river steamer, and tnok her phice in the Union Line, between this city and Sacra- mento. In March. 1854, the W. G. Hunt became the prop- erty of her present owners, who supplanted her position by the Antelope, a steamer of mueb greater capacity. The W. G. H. has been a fortunate steamer, always commanded hy popular officers, she has been a favorite with the public. Her dimensions are as follows : length of kecl. 1857% feet ; breadth of beam, 25 5-6 feet ; depth of hold, 634 feet ; meas- ures 311 tuns.
