Williains was born February 22. 1927, in Los Angeles. He had lived in the valley four months and was a salesman for Adanac Mobile Home Sales.


He is survived by his wife, Joan; one son, Michael, Midway City; two daughters, Linda Milittelo, Rose- mead; and Georgia Zaletel, Ingle- wood; his mother, Ann Jones, Gar- dena, and 5 grandchildren.

Jenkins was born in Safford, Arizona, July 12, 1920 and lived in the valley four years. He was a retired foreman for Bethlehem Steel Com- pany. Jenkins was a member of the LDS Church and the American Legion. . .

Services were held Monday, Oc- tober 13, at 2 p.m., in the Valley Mortuary Chapel, for Hazel Verna Brown, 74, who passed away in Kern Valley Hospital. Mrs. Brown was born in Dwight, Kansas, October 16, 1900 and resided in Lake Isabella for eleven years.


She is survived by her husband, Merle, Lake Isabella; one son, Dr. M. Robert Brown, San Mateo; one daughter, Lois B. Dungan, Bakers- field; and 3 grandchildren. Arrange- inents by Valley Mortuary.

Maurice Metz


Services were held Monday, Oc- tober 20 in Fresno for Maurice Jean Metz, 65, who died in San Jose, October 16.


He was well known in Kern River Valley as the architect for the Kern Valley Hospital. He was born in Fresno and spent most of his life in that area.


He is survived by two sons; John and gary; one daughter, Carol and one brother, Eddie Metz of Wofford Heights.


Evelyn Welcher


On Sunday, October 19, Evelyn Welcher, 53, passed away in Loma Linda Hospital after a long Illness. N. services were held, as Evelyn : quested her body to be donated to medical research.


She resided in Bodfish for 9 years, living her life to the fullest. Evelyn's memory will remain bright and ever- lasting in the hearts of her family and friends.


She is survived by her husband, Orville; two sons, Gary Welcher, Mt. Mesa, John Welcher, Morongo Valley; one daughter, Jo Ann Gear- den, Riverside; three brothers, Jack Scott, Wofford Heights, Dick Scott, Wofford Heights, and Phil Scott, Morongo Valley; three sisters, Doro- thy Ballard, Lola Hamilton and Pat Edge, Morongo Valley; nine grand children, one great-grandchild and her parents, John and Emeline Scott, Morongo Valley.

HENRY WELDON


On Sautrday, November 25, Catholic graveside services were held at Kelso Valley Indian Cemetery for Henry David Weldon, 57, of Weldon. Mr. Weldon, third generation des- cendant of the founder of the community of Weldon died October 21. He was born in Kelso Valley.


Mr. Weldon, a cattle rancher, was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army .


Survivors include the widow,

Services were held Saturday, Oc- tober 25 at 11 a.m. for William Elmer Standerfer, 70, who died October 22 at Kern Valley Hospital. Rev. Hugh Power officiated. Interment followed at Kern Valley Cemetery.


Standerfer, a retired rancher was born in Texas, December 4, 1904 and had resided in the Kern County area for 33 years.


He is survived by his wife, Mar- garet; one son, Gregory Lee, Vista: three brothers, Ernest and Leslie, Texas, and C.P., La Puente; two sisters, Essie Knight and Bessie Turner, Texas

D'ARCY A. FLANAGAN


D'Arcy A. Flanagan, 70, died at his home in Kernville early Sunday morning. November 2. A sufferer


from emphysema, he had recently been hospitalized for an attack of pneumonia.


Mr. Flanagan was born July 3, 1905 in Orillia, Ontario, Canada. He came to the United States when a young man and became a nautralized


citizen. He and his family resided in various cities of the east where he wa engaged in the transportation business Mr. and Mrs. Flanagan came to Kernville from San Fernando in 1968 and built a home on Hillside Drive. Besides his wife, Jeri, He is survived by a son, Dion of Kernville, a daughter, Mrs Gerry Morrison of San Fernando, three grandchildren,two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Regan of Toronto, Canada, and Mrs. Agnes Regan of Sudbury, Canada.


Private services were conducted at the Valley Mortuary Tuesday, Nov- ember 4. Ashes will be scattered over the High Sierras.

Graveside services were held Fri- day, October 31, at Valhalla Memorial Park, North Hollywood, for Agnes A. Wonser, 58, who died Tuesday, October 28. Reverend Bock officlated.


She is survived by her husband, Harold J. Wonser, Lake Isabella; one daughter, DeRene Patricia Krise and three grandchildren.

Services for Margaret Stalford, 44, Weldon, were conducted Saturday, November 1 in the Doughty-Calhoun- O'Meara Mortuary Chapel. Margaret Stalford died October 29. Mrs Stal- ford was a native of Fresno and had lived in the Kernville area 43 years, and in California all her life. She was last employed by A. Brown Company of Kernville.


Msgr. Patrick Hannon officiated with interment following in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bakersfield.


Survivors include the widower, Sidney; 3 sons, Sterling of Kernville and Levi and Billy, both of Weldon; 2 daughters, Jeanie of Wilmington and Jennifer of Weldon; 2 brothers, Nathan Mace of Weldon and William Mace of Santa Monica; 5 sisters, Irene Miranda of Weldon, Angela Tungate and Pat Casteel, both of Tracy, Mildred Somera of Lathrop and Sylvia Mace of Porterville; and 1 grandson.


JOHN R. SPRINGER


Graveside services are being held today, November 6, at 1:30p.m.for John Robert Springer, 54, who died Monday, November 3, at his home in Kernville. The VFW Post will offici- ate. Interment to follow at Kern Valley Cemetery.


Mr. Springer was born April 21, 1921 In Bakersfield and was a native of Kern County. He worked at the Fish Hatchery as a Technician for the California Department of Fish and Game. Mr. Springer was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the VFW. He is survived by one son, John, Lake Isabella; one daughter, Barbara Vadanais, Ridgecrest; his mother, Mildred Springer, Bakersfield; two sisters, Dorothy Ward, Hartflat; Betty Regent, SanDiego, and four grandchildren

A private cremation was held Tuesday, October 21, for Edgar Askey, 62. who died Monday, October 20 at Kern Valley Hospital. Mr. Askey was born in Kane, Pennsylvania, March 21, 1913 and was a retired technical engineer for Hughes Aircraft. He is survived by his wife, Made- line; three sons, James, Eureka, Jerome, Oceanside, Richard, El Cajon; two daughters, Carol Warnock and Nancy Clancy, both of Wood- bridge; one brother, Harold Davis, Santa Ana; two sisters, Neona Carl and Grace Holliwill, both of Erie, Penn. and thirteen grandchildren. Stanley Plews, 71, Kernville for the past 9 years, passed away November, 5, 1975 at U.C.L.A. Medical


Center after a long illness. Retired manager of the Bond Department of Travelers' Insurance Company of Los Angeles, he was past president of the Surety Association of Southern California. Plews was a


member of Kernville United Metho- dist Church and a member of the Kern River REACT team.


Mr. Plews is survived by hie wife, Katheryn; son, Gordon of Santa Barbara; one sister, and two brothers of Southern California. Memorial services will be announced later.


RACHEL E. REECE


Rosary was recited Friday, No- vember 7, at 7:30 p.m. at Valley Mortuary Chapel for Rachel Ellen Reece, 64, who died Wednesday, November 5 in Mercy Hospital. Requiem Mass was held in Valley Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, No- vember 8, at 11 a.m. and was followed by interment at Kern Valley Ceme- tery.


Mrs. Reece was born May 26, 1911, in Lincoln, Kansas, She had lived in Lake Isabella for 52 years, and was a retired teller at California Bank and treasurer for the Altar Society. She is survived by her husband, Orville; one daughter, Marge Gen- semer, Cerritos; one step-daughter, Joann Geddie, Las Vegas; four brothers, Paul Smith, Lynwood, Leo- nard Smith, Long Beach, Keith Smith, La Habra and Neil Smith, Desert Hot Springs; one sister, Mildred Best, Huntington Beach, and two grand- children.

Graveside services will be held Friday, November 21, at 10:30 a.m., Kern Valley Cemetery, for Robert Dunlap, 68, who passed away Sunday, November 16, at Kern Valley Hos- pital. Rev. Hugh Power will officiate.


Dunlap was born in Missouri, May 23, 1907, and had lived in the community for six inonths He was self-employed.


He is survived by his son, Chester, Bodfish; one brother. Cy Dunlap, Missouri; four sisters, Mildred Pierce, Missouri, Thelma Jones, Washington, Mable Dunlap, Illinois. Beulah Dunlap, Michigan; four grandchildren and two great-grand- children.

Services will be held Friday, November.21, at 2:30 p.in , Valley Mortuary Chapel, for Elizabeth I. Keifel, 71, who died Monday, Novem- ber 17, at Kern Valley Hospital. Interment will follow at Kern Valley Cemetery with Rev. Hugh Power officiating.


Ms. Keifel was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 13, 1904. She had resided in Wofford Heights for fifteen years, was a member of the Rebekahs and a former clerk at Safeway Market.


She is survived by three sisters, Kathryn Rodriquez, Wofford Heights, Alma Waldorf, El Segundo, Louise Falk, Lake Isabella; one brother, Julius Schoenfeld. Lakewood; and thirteen nieces and nephews.

Lawrence Ramo Bonneville, 52, passed away Sunday, November 16 at Kern Valley Hospital. Services were held Wednesday, November 19, at 11 a.m. in the Valley Mortuary Chapel. Interment followed at Kern Valley Cemetery, with Rev. Arthur Lewis officiating.


Bonneville was born in Virgon. May 5, 1922, and had lived in the valley for 512 years. He was a Inember of the Kern Valley Search and Rescue Squad Bonneville was self-employed and a former photo- grapher for the Kern Valley SUN.


He is survived by his wife, Marie ( Pepper); one daughter, Kathy Mc- Cann, Norwalk; three sisters, Doro- thy Prell, Los Angeles, Connie Smith, Southgate, MaryAnn Brown, Hunting- ton Beach; and two grandchildren.

Herbert Shelton Jr.


Interment services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Kernville District Cemetery, Kernville. for Herbert H. Shelton, Jr., 61, who died in Kernville, November 15. Officers of The B.P.O. Elks Lodge officiated. Mr. Shelton resided in Kern County three years and in California 36 years, and was a member of the B. P.O. Elks Lodge No. 2358, Kernville. He was a member of the International Assoc- iation of Machinists, and was retired from McDonald-Douglass Aircraft. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Burlah Shelton, Kernville. Services are being held today, November 26, at 1 p.m., in Valley Mortuary Chapel for Donald Wayne Welch Sr., 47, who died Friday, November 21, at City of Hope, Duarte, Calif. Rev. Raulsten will officiate. Interment will follow at Kern Valley. Cemetery.


Welch was born April 20, 1928. He had been the owner of the Cane Brake Inn for three years.


He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, Cane Brake; three sons, Donald Welch, Jr., Norwalk, Gary Welch and Thomas Michael Welch, Mt. Mesa: one daughter, Lisa Fay, Mt. Mesa; two brothers, Robert C. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, December 2, at the Union Cemetary in Bakersfield for Homer Jay Underwood, 78, of 300 Olive Street in Bakersfield, who died on November 29 in a Bakersfield hospital. Services were conducted by officers of Libertas Lodge No. 466.


Under wood managed the Frontier Realty Co in Wofford Heights prior to opening Ins real estate offices in Bakersfield He was a real estate broker fot 20 years before his retirement in the Bakersfield area.


He was a World War 1 veteran, an active member of the Masonic Lodge; Past Master of Pittsburg, Kansas Lodge No. 187, F&AM; past High Priest of the Royal Arch with a life membership; a member of Montjote Commandery 29, KT, and a Shriner with Mirza Temple of Pittsburg.


Survivors include the widow, Emily; 3 sons, Jackson of San Diego, William of Bakersfield, and Larry of Es- condido; and one sister, Mrs. Edith Converse of Kansas City, Missouri.


Clay W. Henderson


Graveside services were held Mon- day at Kern Valley Cemetary for Clay Warren Henderson, 62, Lake Isabella, who died December 4 at Kern Valley Hospital. Elks Lodge, Kern River Valley Pust No. 2358. will officiate


Mr. Henderson resided in Kern Valley for 16 years He was born in Oakland, Oklahoma, and came to c'alifornia in 1941 Mr. Henderson was a member of the Elks Club and Moose Lodge No 498 He was last employed as an eler tiftan al Edwards Air Force Base

Maud Blandford


Graveside services were held De- cember 15 at Oakdale Memorial Park, Glendora, for Maude J. Blandford, 89, who died on December 12 at Kern Valley Hospital.


Mrs. Blandford was a four-year resident of Kern River Valley and had lived in California for the past fifty-five years.


She is survived by one son, William Allen, Escondido; one daughter, Elsie Durie, Wofford Heights; two grand- children and ten great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, December 17, at Valley Mortuary Chapel for Elise Goergl, 79, who died December 15 at Beverly Manor Guest Home, Bakersfield. Glen Burton officiated. Interment followed at Kern Valley Cemetery.


Mrs. Goergl, a retired seamstress and twenty nine year member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, re- sided in Bodfish tor the past eleven years

Harry V. Larson


Private family services will be held today. Thursday, December 18 in Hemet in memory of Harris V. Larson, 79, known to his friends as Pinkie A 12-year resident of Wofford Heights, Larson ched on December 14 in Vista, California


He was born on March 30, 1896 in North Dakota and moved to California nearly 60 years ago. He was employed by Standard Oil of California in the El Segundo plant for 43 years prior to his retirement. Larson was a veteran of World War I


He is survived by one brother and two meces In lieu of Howers, the fannly requests that donations be made in the name of Harris V. Larson to the American Cancer Fund.


Luda P. Combs


Services were held in Hillcrest Mortuary Chapel Wednesday, De- cember 17 at 3 p.m. for 1.uda P. "Lou" Combs, 65, who died December 13. The Rev. Fred Cottriel of the First Assembly of God Church officiated


Mrs. Combs was born in Paris. Texas, and had resided in the Lake Isabella area for seven years. Sur- vivors include the widower, Elbert: sun, Vimian of Bakersfield; 2 brothers. Nathan and Melford Rumsey, both of Oklahoma, and 3 sisters, Lela Robin- son of Oklahoma, Mattie Wells and Lorene Flum, both of California.

Amburs W. Fry


Graveside services were held in Paraja Memorial Park in Watson- ville, California, on Monday, De- cember 22 in memory of Amburs W. Fry, 60, formerly of Lake Isabella, who died on December 17 at the Kern Valley Hospital. The services were conducted by Valley Mortuary.


Mr. Fry was born in Waldion, Arkansas on April 19, 1915. He was a retired highway construction worker and a resident of Lake Isabella for the past year.


He is survived by two sons, William of San Jose and Franklin of Okla- homa; three sisters, Hettie Ryder of Huntington Beach, Gertha Mainard and Earlimart, Ella Metcalf of Red Oak, Oklahoma; and three grand- children. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

l'uneral services for Wesley Ori Towlerton, 70, of Lake Isabella, were conducted Wednesday, December 17 at 3: 45 p.m. by Rose Hills Mortuary in Hillside Church. Guardian Masome Lodge No. 59G, F. & A.M. officiated and interment was in Rose Hills Memorial Park.


Mr. Towlerton, a resident of Call- fornia for 47 years, and Lake Isabella area for five years, was born in Iowa, and died Sunday. December 14 in Kern Valley Hospital. He was a former diesel mechame with Balser Trucking Company.


He is survived by his wife, Alma, of the home address, his father. L.dward E. Towlerton; three brothers, Merle, Roland and Dale Towlerton, and a sister, Alma Partridge.

Weldon Man Dies In Crash


Sidney G. Kidd, 27, of Weldon was killed in a one-cat accident on December 25 at about 12:30 a.m, according to the responding officer, CHIP Jim Maddon!


Kidd was westbound on Highway 178, east of lathe Isabella when the accident occured He apparently fost control of his velele after tailing to negotiate a curve and the car overturned and rolled over several tunes. He was transported to Kern Medical Center in Bakerstichl where he died about 10.30 a m. Christmas morning

Graveside services were held at Kern Valley Cemetery Monday, De- cember 29 in memory of Sidney George Kidd, 27, formerly of Weldon, who died December 25 at Kern Medical Center. Rev. Arthur Lewis officiated. Interment was in Kern Valley Cemetery.


Sidney Kidd was born in Santa Ana, June 1, 1948. He was employed by Starr Drilling of Lake Isabella and was a resident of Weldon for the past two years.


He is survived by Mr. and Mrs. leRoy Kidd, Onyx, and one sister, Shirley Kidd, also of Onyx.

Neva Vance


Neva Vance, 61, long-time resident of Kernville, died suddenly Monday, December 29. She was the former communications manager and held the concession at Kernville Airport. She is survived by three sons, Ron, Gary, and Bill Vance.

Robert Nestell


Memorial services will be held today, Wednesday, December 31 at 11 a.m. in the Valley Mortuary Chapel for Robert Edward Nestell, 58, who died on December 27 at the Kern Valley Hospital. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7665 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 54 will officiate at the services. Interment will follow in the Kern River Valley District Cemetery.


Mr. Nestell was born in old Whiskey Flat on May 16, 1915 and became a part of the pioneer legend of the Kern River Valley. He lived in Kernville or the Bishop area all of his life, and highlighting a varied career, he becanie known as the "Blonde Bom- ber" during his days as a professional boxer. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 54, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and of the Moose Lodge No. 498


He is survived by the widow, Mary, of Bodfish, one son, Steven of Reno, Nevada; three daughters - Gloria Barnes of Bishop, Susan Nestell of San Diego, Toni Cannon of Woodville; one brother, Forrest Burns of Mill Valley; one sister, Jean Moffat of Long Beach and 5 grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. on December 29 in the Highland Chapel Methodist Church in Lake Isabella in memory of Charlotte Ethel Petty- pool, who died December 24 at the Kern Valley Hospital. Rev. Donald Roulsten officiated at the service and interment followed in the old Kern River Valley Cemetery.


Mrs. Pettypool was a native of the Kern River Valley and at the time of her death was the oldest living native resident. She was born on October 28, 1875 in Onyx. Her father, Capt. Edwin Andress was one of the first settlers in the South Fork ranch country.


She married Ed Pettypool in 1896 and assisted in establishing the early Methodist churches in the valley. Mrs. Pettypool was one of the first corres- pondents with the Bakersfield Cali- fornian in the early 1930's, bringing the news of the social life of the Kern River Valley to the San Joaquin Valley. She was a resident of the Lakeview Guest Home in Wofford Heights at the time of her death.


She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gertrude and Gus Suhre of Wofford Heights; three grand- children, Elizabeth Waldrop of Wof- ford Heights, Phyliss Sherlock of Whitman, Massachusetts, Mrs. Har- riet Chamberlin of Stockton; 11 great- grandchildren, 7 great-great-grand- and children and many nieces nephews.


Pallbearers were Kurtis and Jef- frey Waldrop, her grandsons; Hugh Chamberlin, Clifford Cross, Merrill Hight, and Marvin Powers.

OBITUARY


John Tomlinson


Services were held Tuesday, De- cember 30, 3 p.m., at Valley Mortuary Chapel in memory of John Leo Tomlinson, 72, of Lake Isabella, who died December 27 at Kern Valley Hospital. Rev. Arthur Lewis officia- ted. Interment was at Kern Valley Cemetery Wednesday, December 31.


Mr. Tomlinson was born in Chicago, June 27, 1903 and resided in Lakeland Tract, Lake Isabella, for the past five years. He was a retired security guard for Amphenol Electronics Co., Los Angeles and a member of 55 Plus Club.


He is survived by his widow, Ella; two sons, John of Auburn, Massachu- setts, and Robert of Hickory Hill Illinois; one daughter, Shirley Wilkie, Westlake Village; one brother, Lawrence, Chicago; three sisters, Marie Curley of Denver, Ann Vana of Chicago, and Celia Ungurates of Chicago; eleven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Enar E. Enarson


Enar Eugene Enarson, 73, a resi- dent of Kern County for 10 years, passed away on December 23 at the Santa Fe Hospital in Los Angeles.


Mr. Enarson was born on May 22. 1901 in Iron Mountain, Michigan. He retired as Chief Clerk of the Santa Fe Railroad in Barstow after 21 years of service.


He is survived by the widow, Wavel; one sister, Mrs. Pat Szwedoweki of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a brother-in- law, Mr. Carle of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Interment was in Barstow .:
