Billy D. Connelly


Services were held on Friday, March 21 at 1 p.m. In Valley Mortuary Chapel for Billy D. Connelly, 45, of Lake Isabella who died on Wednes- day, March 19 as the result of an automobile accident. Rev. Mark Stahnke, pastor of the Weldon Metho- dist Church and the Highland Chapel, officiated at the service. Interment followed at Kern River Valley District Cemetery.


Connelly was born in Edmond, Oklahoma on June 22, 1929. He had lived in California for 11 years and in the valley for the past three years. He was the owner of R.C. Electric in Lake Isabella.

Gordon L. Middleton


Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26 at the Kern River Valley District Cemetery for Gordon Lee Middleton, 58, who died on March 23 at the Kern Valley Hospital. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7665, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 54, and the World War I Veterans Barracks No. 1841 officiated at the services.


Middleton was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 26, 1915. He had lived in California for 23 years and in Bodfish for the past 8 years. He was a retired civil engineer, last employed by Boyle Engineering in Fresno. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 509 of Fresno.


He is survived by the widow, Elsle; four daughters, Susan Brown of Arizona, Carol Browning of Illinois, Joyce Turner of Fresno, Constant Deacon of San Jose; four grand- children and one great grandchild. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

Earl F. Mowry Jr.


Cremation services were held for Earl Frank Mowry Jr., 41, on April 2 in Bakersfield. He was born in Los Angeles on October 25, 1933 and died in Bakersfield on March 31.


He had resided in Lake Isabella for 8 years at the time of his death. Mowry is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mowry Sr. of Lake Isabella. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.


Rita Charlton


Graveside services will be held at the Rankin Ranch Cemetery in Walker Basin in memory of Rita Laverne Charlton, 60, who died at the Kern Valley Hospital on March 31. Rev. Mark Stahnke, pastor of the Weldon Methodist Church will offi- ciate at the service.


Mrs. Charlton was born in Oregon on October 14, 1914. She had lived in Caliente for 30 years and was a retired R.N. She worked with Dr. Levin, dermatologist, in Bakersfield for many years prior to retirement.


She is survived by the widower. Memorial services will be held today, Thursday, April 3 at 1 pm. in the Valley Mortuary Chapel for Adeline E. Fugitt, 88, who died at the Kern Valley Hospital on March 31. Rev. Myron Goodyear, pastor of the Kernville United Methodist Church. officiated at the services. Interment will follow at Kern River Valley District Cemetery.


Mrs. Fugitt was born on October 15, 1886 in Weldon and resided on Burlando Road in Kernville at the time of her death. She was a native of the valley and a member of one of the pioneer families.


She is survived by two daughters - Elizabeth Crowder of Kernville, and Adeline Malone of Bishop and Kern- ville; grandchildren - Trudy Hylton of Kernville, Don Stancliff of Michigan, Lois Hoad of New Jersey, Bob Stubblefield of Rialto, Jane Firth of Huntington Beach, Bob Crowder of Bakersfield, Don Crowder of Bakers- field, Ron Crowder of Bakersfield and Ronnie Smith of Missouri; 18 great- grandchildren, 1 great-great grand- child and many nieces and nephews. Mary Lou Perry


Services will be held on April 9 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Lake Isabella for Mary Lou Perry, 25; Weldon Lee Perry, 18 months; and Joshua Saul Perry, 21/2 years. The three died as the result of an auto accident on April 4.


Mrs. Perry was born on June 8, 1949 in Montana and she had been a resident of the Lake Isabella area for three years. At the time of her death she was employed by the Kern Valley Hospital as a Nurses' Aide.


They are survived by the widower and father, Robert Perry Jr .; and.@ sister, Pamela. Mrs. Perry is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Dorothy Simpson of Vacaville; two brothers - Maurice A. Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 12 at 2 p.m. at the Kern Valley District Cemetery for Jeannette B. Cummings, 69, who died at the Kern Valley Hospital on April 9. Rev. Woody Peabody, pastor of the Episcopal Church, officiated at the service.


Mrs. Cummings was born on July 11, 1905 in Dallas, Texas and she had resided in Weldon for 3 years at the time of her death

She was born in Nebraska on June 18, 1892 and she was a retired watchperson for the Northern Pacific Railway. She had lived on Sierra Way in Kernville for the past 5 years.

Private memorial services will be held today, Thursday, April 17 at 3 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Chapel for Frank Guthrie Marshall, 68, of Wofford Heights who died at his home on April 14. Dr. John A. Lavendar, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Bakersfield, will officiate at the service.


Marshall was born on February 25, 1907 in Ohio. He had lived in California for 62 years and was self-employed dealer in office machines for 45 years. At the time of his death he had been a resident of Wofford Heights for 3 year's.

Private services will be held in memory of Everett L. Sears Sr., 90, who passed away on April 22 at the Kern Valley Hospital. Interment will be In the Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto.


Mr. Sears was born in Randolph County, Missouri on October 13, 1884.


He was a retired automobile dealer, Sears and Sears Ford Co .; and a 60 year member of the F&AM and the B.P.O.E. of Pueblo and Walsonberg, Colorado. He was a resident of the Lakeview Guest Home In Wofford Heights at the time of his death.


Mr. Sears is survived by one son, Everett Jr., of Kernville; two sisters, Mae Finnell of Armstrong, Missouri and Mrs. W.C. Phelps of Olney. Illinois; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

Private services were held in Hill- crest Mortuary Wednesday for Frank W. Requa, 84, of Kernville, who died April 21. Mr. Requa was a trailer park owner 18 years before his retirement. Survivors include the widow, Julia; son, Wayne of Arcadia; grandson; 3 sisters, Henreitta Hammel of Bakers- field, Anita Johnson of Los Angeles and Caroline Leonard of Arizona; 4 brothers, Harold of San Diego, De Wolf of Los Angeles, Harding of Los Angeles, and Earl of Paso Robles. Ted A. Miller


Services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29 for Ted A. Miller, 68, who passed away on April 25 at Kern Valley Hospital. Miller was born in Newton, Kansas on June 23, 1906. The Rev. Myron Goodyear and the Kern Valley Masonic Lodge officiated at the services. Interment was at Kern Valley Cemetery.


Miller had resided for one year on Panorama Drive in Wofford Heights at the time of his death. He was a resident of California for 35 years.


He was a 50-year Master Mason, and also belonged to the Shriners, Kern River Valley Elks Lodge No. 2358, Eastern Star, and the Wofford Heights Improvement Group. Miller was a retired self-employed baker from the Whittier area.


Miller is survived by the widow, Ellen; two sons, Ted Jr., San Bernardino, and Ronald Perigan, Fullerton; five daughters, Barbara Morrison, Brea, Betty Jean Burch, Phoenix, Billie Clausen, Wheeler, Oregon, Bettie Perigan, Chino, and Bobbie Horwell, Anaheim; one bro- ther, Gerald Fancher, Norwalk; two sisters, Ada Thompson, Roland Helghts, and Gladys Carnahan of Kansas; 14 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. Albert J. Malouf


Services were held in Greenlawn Chapel Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. for Albert J. Malouf, 60, 3309 Fillmore Avenue, Bakersfield, who died May 7. Earl E. Beck, chaplain of the East Bakersfield Rotary Club officiated and interment followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.


Malouf was a native of Utah and resided in Kern County 55 years. He was the owner of Edison Sand Co. Malouf was a member of the Libertas Lodge 466, F&AM, Bakersfield Order of DeMolay, past master, valley master counselor, past commander of legion of honor and was on the advisory council for many years.


He was justice of the peace in McKittrick in 1942, Army veteran of World War II, charter member of American Legion Post 682 and a member of the 40 & 8. Scottish Rite Bodies, Kern County Shrine Club, Al Malaikak temple and honorary char- ter member of the East Bakersfield Rotary Club


Survivors include his sons, Gerald of Bakersfield and James of Lake Isabella; daughter, Gail Fisher of Bakersfield: 2 brothers, Herb of Bakersfield and the Rev. Ted of Tennessee, sister, Linda Bagley of Santa Rosa. and 3 grandchildren Pallbearers were Luther Crouse, Charlie Moore, Williamn Moore, Cla- rence Johnson, Joseph Flesher and George Reil Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Prunty, Andrew Berry and Ed Schaeffer. Services were held on March 31 at the First Baptist Church in Lake Isabella in memory of Loyd Funk, 69. who passed away on March 26 at the Kern Valley Hospital. Rev. Hugh Power officiated at the services and interment followed in the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakersfield


Mr. Funk was born on September 2, 1905 in Louisiana. He was a retired assembly worker employed by the Collugm Motors Co. He and his wife had Uved in Lake Isabella at 2705 Steenson Street for the last 8 years.


He is survived by the widow, Lois; his mother, Mary Funk of Arkansas; two sons, James of Redondo Beach and Gordon of Oregon; 3 brothers and two sisters; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 at the Kernville United Methodist Church in Kernville, for George Willard Horning of Wofford Heights who passed away Sunday, May 11, at Kaiser Hospital in Panorama City, after an illness of several months. Services will be conducted by Rev Myron B. Good- year and the Kern River Lodge No. 827, F&AM.


Mr. Horning was born in Los Angeles on January 6, 1907 He serced in the Navy Seabees for 3 years in the South Pacific and Point Barrow, Alaska. He was a member of Kern River Masonic Lodge No. 827, F&AM, and the Kern River Valley Chapter No. 643, Order of the Eastern Star,


Mr. Horning leaves the widow, Anna Adele Horning; a sister, Mary McGulre of South Pasadena; and two brothers, Thomas Horning of Los Angeles and Robert Horning of South Africa.

The Altar Society officiated at a Rosary service in the Valley Mor- tuary Chapel at 8 p.m. on May 20 for Charles Austin Lang, 67, who died May 18 at Kern Valley Hospital. A Requiem mass was held at the St. Jude's Cathohe Church on Wednes- day, May 21 at 11 a.m with Rev. Thomas Timmings officiating and interment followed at Kern Valley District Cemetery.


Mr. Lang was born on January 28, 1908 in Witchita, Kansas. He had lived in California for 55 years and was a retired machinist with the Wymnan Co. in Van Nuys, He had resided in Kernville for the last 3 years. The only survivor is the widow, Marie. Ar- rangements by Valley Mortuary.

Graveside services will be held today, Thursday, May 22 at 1 p.m. at the Kern Valley District Cemetery in memory of Auna Fredericks, G7, who died on May 17 at the Pioneer Guest Home in Bakersfield Rev. Willard Vanfossen will offrate.

Graveside service was held at 9 a.m. Friday, May 16 in Union Cemetery for Edna Valentine Hubert, 67, Kernville, who died May 12. Mrs. Hubert was a native of Woodland, Utah, and lived in Bakersfield before moving to Kernville in 1970.


She was a waitress at the Dam Korner Cafe in Kernville, and was active in Kernville conununity affairs before her illness There are no survivors Arrangements by Mish Funeral Home, Oudale.

Mr. Voorhees was born in Kansas on August 21, 1917. He was a resident of the Kern River Valley for 25 years and a beloved and active member of the community. He was past president of the Kernville Lions' Club.

Services were held on Tuesday, May 27 at 1 p.m. in the Valley Mortuary Chapel for Theodore G. Britton, 79, who died in the Pioneer Convalescant Hospital in Bakersfield on May 22, Rev. Services were held in Kern River Valley Cemetery for Miriam H. Auld, 63, who died May 18 in Santa Monica Medical Center. A resident of River- kern in the Kern Valley six years, she was secretary of the Riverkern Mutual Water Co. She is survived by a brother, Robert A. Hoffman, West- chester.


Larry E. Hughes


Graveside services were held at Pilot Butte Cemetery for Larry E. Hughes, 35, who was killed in an automobile accident near Redmond, Oregon. He was the son of Florence and Leo C. Graves of Lake Isabella and had been a resident of the Kern Valley for 11/2 years prior to moving to Bend, Oregon. While in the valley Hughes was employed by Bill Kissack of Mt. Mesa.


He was a grade trimmer for the Whittier Division of Brooks-Scanlon Inc., in Redmond for the past 7 years. He was born September 8, 1939 in Lansing Michigan. He is survived by the widow, Barbara; a daughter, Jamie and a son, Sean; two brothers, two sisters, two step-brothers, and a step-sister. Arrangements were handled by the Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Graveside rites were held on Saturday, May 31 at 1 p.m. at the Kern Valley District Cemetery for John Oren Risdon Jr., 54, who died in a Bakersfield hospital on May 29. Members of the VFW Post No. 7665 and the American Legion Post, KRV Chapter officiated at the service.


Mr. Risdon was born on July 27, 1920 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a retired electrician and a resident of Onyx for the past 21/2 years, He was a member of the American Legion, newly formed chapter in the Kern Valley.


He is survived by the widow, Eleanor; two sons, John, who Is with the Air Force in Turkey and David of Angola, Indiana; his father, John Sr., and one sister, Sue Reason, both of Indianapolis; and one grandson, Joel. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

OBITUARY


Esteine Mabry


Services were held on Tuesday, June 10 at 1 p.m in the Valley Mortuary Chapel in memory of Esteine B. Mabry, 64, who died in Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield on June 5. Rev. E.B. Wallace, pastor of the Mt. Mesa Church of Christ officiated at the srvices and interment followed in the Kern River Valley District Cemetery.


Mabry was a retired school cus- todian for the los Angeles Schools and had lived in Caliente for the past four years. He was born in Los Angeles on May 1, 1911.


He is survived by the widow, Jean; one son, Robert of Caliente; one daughter, Cristina Caron of Lancas- ter; one brother, Victor of Malibu and two grandchildren. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.


Harry K. Griffin


Memorial services were held Tues- day, June 10, at the Kingdom Hall in Lake Isabella for Harry K. Griffin, 63, who died on June 7 at the Kern Valley Hospital. Rev. Olivetti officiated at the ceremony. Interment was private.


Mr. Griffin was born on January 7, 1912 In New York. He was a retired electrician with the I.B.F. W. Local 11, and had lived on Grandview Avenue in Kernville for the past 2 years.


He is survived by the widow, Irene: two sons, Harry Jr. of Midway City, California and Carl Sill of Torrance; one daughter, Shirley Powers of Kernville; one sister, Clair Patterson of New York and eight grandchildren. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

Cheryl Mora


Cheryl Mora, 30, died on June 10 in a Los Gatos hospital as the result of an automobile accident. She was a resident of Kernville for 5 years. Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs, Forrest Vehrencamp of Wrightwood; two children, Steven and Melanie; and two sisters, Ann Perkins of Kernville and Jeanine Green. Services are pending.
