THOMAS WELLES, of Glastenbury, Conn., was twice married, as is supposed. 1. To 2. To Martha Pitkin, daughter of William Pitkin, Esq., of East-Hartford, Conn., December 28, 1715. Mrs. Martha Welles died July 4, 1763, aged 72. Hon. Thomas Welles died May 14, 1767, aged 75.

THADDEUS WELLES, of Glastenbury, Conn., was married to Elizabeth Cowles, daughter of Deacon Timothy Cowles, of East- Hartford, Conn., and of Hannah his wife, daughter of Hon. Wil- liam Pitkin, one of the early settlers of Hartford, Conn., and of Hannah his wife, daughter of Ozias Goodwin, one of the first set- tlers of' Hartford.


Thaddeus Welles, Esq., died December 22, 1781, aged 86. His widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Welles, died May 20, 1782, aged 85.

1727. Settled in Glastenbury. Was married to Lucy Kilbourn, daughter of Ebe- nezer Kilbourn, of Glastenbury, Au- gust, 1752. Deacon Samnel Welles died December 29, 1800, aged 73. His widow, Mrs. Lucy Welles, died March 15, 1812, aged 81. They raised a large family of children,-among them Samuel, born October 6, 1754, and married to Ann Hale, daughter of Gideon Hale, of Glastenbury, May 2, 1783, and died November 12, 1834, aged 80, was the father of Gideon Welles, Esq., of Hartford, and of Thaddeus Welles, Esq., of Glasten- bury, (who resides on a farm that belonged to his first American an- cestors.)

ICHABOD WELLES, of Wethersfield, Conn., was married to Abi- gail Bigelow, daughter of Bigelow, of - -, January 3, 1751.


Mr. Ichabod Welles died in 1758, aged 46. Administration on his estate was granted to Benjamin Welles, of Bolton, March 7, 1758.

Mr. Thompson removed from Hartford to Farmington, in 1652. 2. To Anthony Hawkins, of Farmington. She was his second wife. By his first wife he had three children, Mary, born July 16, 1644, Ruth, born 1649, and John, 1651.
