They had one child only, a son, Jabez H., born December 24, 1760, married Rebecca Lewis, daughter of Joseph Lewis, of Stratford, by whom he had four children, of whom, Gideon, born Decem- ber 31, 1780, was Governor of Connecticut, from 1827 to 1831, both years inclusive. Mrs. Rebecca Tomlinson died January 1, 1823. Jabez H. Tomlinson, Esq., died in 1849, aged 88. Jabez, born April 15, 1738. Sam- uel Hooker, second Pastor of the First Church in Farmington, Conn., and grand-daughter of Rev. Thomas Hooker, first minister of Hartford, in the same State, July 28, 1727.
Rev. Jonathan Edwards died at Princeton, N. Y., March 22, 1758, in the 55th year of his age.

Rev. Simon Backus died at Louisburg, Island of Cape Breton, (" having gone there as Chaplain of the Army of the New England Colonies,") February 2, 1746, aged 45. He was son of Josephi Backus, of Norwich, Conn., and was born February 11, 1701.+
Ilis widow, Mrs. Eunice Backus, died at East Windsor, Conn., June 1, 1788, aged 83.

t General Assembly, May Session, 1746. Petition of Eunice Backus, stating that her late husband, the Rev. Mr. Backus, in compliance with public desire and order, was induced to leave his family and ministerial charge at Newington, and to repair to Louisburg, there to reside in quality of Chaplain to the troops from this Colony, in garrison there. That not long after his arrival there, it pleased God so to dispose, that he, in the general mortality, was conveyed to the place of silence. He left seven children, which are generally young. His widow, Mrs. Esther Cady, was living in Vernon on the 4th of Octo- ber, 1850, and was cared for by her son-in-law, Russell Cady, Esq., of that town. They had 4 children. Mr. Amos Cady's first wife, to whom he was married July 16, 1770, was Han- nah Kingsbury, daughter of Simon Kingsbury, of Ellington, Conn. She died November 7, 1786, aged about 35. By her, he had 7 children; among them, Russell, above named, born June 12, 1777, and lives on the old family farm in Vernon.

She was lost at sea, on her passage from Charlestown to New York, in 1812. Gov. Allston died at Charleston, September 10, 1816, aged 38.

Married Abby Alsop, of Middletown, Conn. He was an eminent lawyer. Settled in Hartford, Conn., but sub- sequently removed to the city of New York, where he died, in 1846.

Married Jonathan Edwards Porter, of Hadley, Mass., January 16, 1793. Married Rebecca Robbins, daughter of Appleton Robbins, Esq., of Wethers field, Conn., June 20, 1798. Doet. Nathaniel Dwight died June 11, 1831, aged 61. Mrs. Rebecca Dwight died April 28, 1848, aged 77. Had a family of children.

LUCY EDWARDS was married to Jableel Woodbridge, of Stock- bridge, Mass., June 7, 1764. [After her death he was married to Hannah Rebecca Keep, widow of Rev. John Keep, of Sheffield, Mass., and daughter of the Rev. Philemon Robbins, of Branford. Conn., by whom he had no children. ]
Mrs. Lucy Woodbridge died September 18, 1786, aged 51. Hon. Jahleel Woodbridge. died August 13, 1796, aged 58.

12, 1765. Married Rachel Welles, daughter of Ashbel Welles, of West Hartford, Conn. He died in Youngstown, O., August 7, 1836. She died in Stock- bridge, November 7, 1833, aged 66. Married Sarah Meech, of Worthington, Mass. Was a Lawyer. He died in Worthington in 1808, leaving five children, viz. : Lucy Edwards Wood- bridge, who married Mr. E. S. Her- rick, of Albany; Mary Ann Wood bridge, who married Mr. Calvin Walker, of Brockport, N. Y .; Abby D. Woodbridge, a teacher in the AI bany Female Academy, Rev. Jona- than Edwards Woodbridge, late Editor of the Puritan Recorder, Bos- ton, and Rev. George Woodbridge, of Richmond, Va.

She died Febru- ary 9, 1819, aged 44. He died April 23, 1829, in his 58th year. Children, 1, 1773. Catharine, Henry, Joseph, William. Married Elisha Brown, first of Stock- bridge, Mass., afterwards of Dayton, O., where he died in February, 1853.

7, 1775. Married Moses Lester, of Griswold, Conn., November 2, 1807. She was his second wife. He died in 1815. She died in Constantia, N. Y., December 11, 1837. She was the mother of C. Edwards Lester, the author.
