SYNOPSIS OF CONTENTS
The Florida Gazetteer contains one thousand and seventy pages, the contents arranged as follows: The first fifty-one pages are de- voted to useful miscellaneous information relating to Florida, embrac- ing a descriptive sketch of the State, showing its location, contour, water course, soil, products, manufactures, commerce, climate, etc., followed by the government officers, the judiciary, state boards, a list of county seats and county officers, county commissioners, a bankers' directory, railroads with express companies operating on same, etc.
Pages fifty-eight to six hundred and sixty-four is an alphabetical list of the cities, towns, villages and settlements in Florida, with a sketch of each place, showing its geographical location, population, distance to different points, most convenient shipping stations and banking points, products that are marketed, churches, schools, libraries and other items of interest. Each of these sketches is followed by. the names of all busi- ness and professional persons located there, as well as those in business in the surrounding country for which it is the postoffice.
Pages six hundred and sixty-five to one thousand and sixty-nine contain an alphabetical list of classifications of the various trades and professions followed within the State. Every line of trade is represent- ed in these classifications and all. the.persons doing business in each particular line throughout Floridas are arranged in alphabetical order by towns under these classifications, thus bringing the persons en- gaged in any business or profession' together under one heading, separated by towns.
With this issue is presented a map of the State, giving all railroads and their branches, and showing the names of express companies oper- ating on same.
