The village has unexcelled educational and re- ligious advantages, having six churches- Presbyterian, Christian, Methodist, Friends and two Baptist-good graded school of 8 departments, and the Central Normal College erected in 1858, at a cost of $18,000. The surrounding country is slightly undu- lating and very fertile, being under a high state of cultivation, and tilled by an indus- trious, intelligent farming community. It supports two hotels, two banks, two week- ly newspapers-the Democrat and Union- and an excellent monthly publication known as the Normal Teacher, edited by Mr. Joseph E. THE COMMERCIAL COURSE
Embraces two terms of 10 weeks each. The Department is supplied with facilities for Actual Business Operations. The course is valuable, practical and thorough.
THE PREPARATORY MEDICAL COURSE

A MANUFACTURING DEPARTMENT
Of Scientific Apparatus has been established and placed in the hands of a skillful work. man and scientist. This department contains a Steam Engine, Lathes, Boring Tools, Circular Saws and other machinery useful in the manufacture of Apparatus. This De- partment is free to all, and has yielded surprising results.
OUR CORPS OF TEACHERS
Has been strengthened and increased until it is now unsurpassed. Every Department is well sustained and thoroughly equipped.
