the wealthiest of its size in the State, is compactly built, has good court house, jail, and unusually substantial business blocks and residences. Its manufactories are: Two saw mills, paper mill, cooperage, flax mill, hub and spoke factory, three flour mills, engine manufactory, two planing mills, fur- niture manufactory and three lime kilns. Delphi was incorporated as a city in 1865, is surrounded by a very fertile agricultural district, and contains an excellent high school building, Catholic parochial school, two banks, an opera house, two grain ele- vators, three weekly newspapers -- Journal (Republican), Times (Democrat), and Eu- derprise (Independent)-six churches, two hotels, and volunteer fire department. . DENVER. Was laid out in 1872, is located at crossing of I: P. & C. and Eel River Div. W. St. L. & P. Rys., in Jeffer- son township, Miami county, 9 miles north of Peru, the county seat. This thrifty little village of 600 inhabitants contains Methodist church, graded school, two hotels and two saw mills. Its principal exports are stock, grain, lumber and pro- duce.
