HOBART. With a population of 1,360 (principally German), is located on the P. Ft. W. & C. Ry, in Hobart town- ship, Lake county. Io miles northeast of Crown Point, the county seat. George Creek flows by the village, and affords water power to operate one flour mill, which, with a pottery, foundry and brick yard, comprise its manufactories. It sup- ports seven churches-Methodist, Catholic, Baptist, German. Methodist, Unitarian, Ger- man and Swedish Lutheran-one hotel and a weekly newspaper. Express, Adams. Telegraph, Western Union.
