FRANKFORT. This city, the cap. ital of the State, is located on the east side of the Kentucky river, in Franklin county, 48 miles east of Louisville. The census of 1880 shows the population to be 6.979. The main line of the L. C. & L. R. R., passos through here, giving it excellent shipping and transportation facilities. Here are 2 banks, several newspapers, among which the Kentucky Yeoman deserves special men- tion, a cotton-mill, a bridge works, a num- ber of stores and elegant private residences, fine church edifices, a circulating library,
