For twenty-five years he served our town as a member of the Board of Registrars of Voters, of which eight years he served as Chairman, previous to which he served as a member of the Board of Assessors, performing outstanding service with understanding and a strong, abiding will to protect and preserve the rights and welfare of the people of the Town of Norwood.

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING Monday, January 21, 1957, adjourned to March 28, 1957


On a warrant duly issued by the Selectmen unde the date of January 8, 1957, and signed by Alonzo F. Swift, Jr., Charles L. Rich, Harry B. Butters, James J. Drummey and John A. Abdallah, Selectmen of Norwood, the meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Francis C. Foley, The proper service of this warrant was duly attested by James E. Quinn, Constable of Norwood.


All the requirements of the statutes and by-laws relating to elections and town meetings were complied with. The warrant calling the meeting was read by Assistant Town Clerk John E. Folan, Jr. The articles contained in the warrant, and the action thereunder being as follows:


ARTICLE 1. To choose all necessary Town Officers: The following are to be chosen by ballot, namely: Two Selectmen for three years; one Town Treasurer and Collector of Taxes for one year; one Moderator for one year; one member of the Board of Health for three years; one Finance Commis- sioner for three years; one Finance Commissioner for two years (to fill vacancy) ; one member of the Town Planning Board for five years; two mem- bers of the School Committee for three years; two Trustees of the Morrill Memorial Library for three years; one Trustee of the Morrill Memorial Library for two years (to fill vacancy) ; one member of the Norwood Housing Authority for one year (to fill vacancy); two Constables for one year; five Town Meeting Members for District One for three years; seven Town Meet- ing Members for District Two for three years; three Town Meeting Mem- bers for District Three for three years; six Town Meeting Members for District Four for three years; one Town Meeting Member for District Four for one year (to fill vacancy); seven Town Mccting Members for District Five for three years; six Town Meeting Members for District Six for three years; eight Town Meeting Members for District Seven for three years; two Town Meeting Members for District Seven for one year (to fill vacancies) ; seven Town Meeting Members for District Eight for three years.
